Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 287: Chapter 160: What a Divine Day This Is (Third Update)

The old Daoist didn’t want to discuss Christopher Mason’s family at all, and said irritably, ”Alright, alright, don’t push it. Look at their status compared to ours; for them to say a few words to you is already generous. What more do you want?—If your virtues don’t match your position, no matter how high you climb, you’ll fall hard!”

Lawrence Winters curled his lips and rolled his eyes slightly, ”Heavenly Master Grandpa, you’re thinking too far ahead. For me, just watching them talk is already satisfying enough. What do you think I want to do?—Grab their coattails and reach the pinnacle of life, become a CEO, and marry a tall, rich, and handsome guy?”

The old Daoist looked at her suspiciously, ”... You really haven’t thought about earning some money off them?”

Lawrence Winters: ”!!!”

Oh my!

The Heavenly Master Grandpa is amazing, seeing right through my facade at a glance.

She said embarrassedly, ”...If they could help our Zhang’s Heavenly Master Agency gain some fame, it would be a win-win situation...”

”You wish. People like them could turn us Daoists into research subjects in no time.” The old Daoist made a throat-slashing gesture across his own neck.

Lawrence Winters pursed her lips, feeling a bit of sudden panic, ”But earlier, I said we were Feng Shui consultants...”

”Being Feng Shui consultants is fine...” the old Daoist snorted, ”At most, they’ll just think we’re con artists, nothing to worry about.”

Lawrence Winters’ face looked even worse, and she said angrily, ”But I don’t want them to think of me as a con artist!”

Being taken as a con artist by her idols, does she have no dignity?!

”Heh, too late. I could tell at a glance that both of them think we’re con artists, so it’s good you didn’t make a huge blunder...” The old Daoist yawned and got into the ride-share car with her.

...

Christopher Mason and Lydia Graham returned to the residence, where he handed the two different strands of hair brought by Ian Lothrop to Leo Carter for DNA testing.

To be safe, he instructed Leo, ”For the A1 sample, besides DNA sequencing, check the familial relationship with Mrs. Sterling. For the B1 sample, just sequenc it, and ideally, get the full genome sequence.”

The A1 sample was the old Daoist’s hair.

The B1 sample was Lawrence Winters’ hair.

Leo Carter now had a quantum computer provided by Ian Lothrop for research, greatly enhancing sequencing speed.

Previously, sequencing a full genome could take almost forty-eight hours; now it was less than a second.

He ran the program instantly, and said to Christopher Mason, who was waiting nearby, ”The A1 sample is indeed related to Mrs. Sterling, and they’re quite closely related.”

”The B1 sample has no familial relationship with the A1 sample. What do you plan to do next?”

Christopher Mason confirmed that the old Daoist was indeed his mother, Clara Sterling’s, older brother and immediately dispatched a few people to secretly safeguard the old Daoist.

As for Lawrence Winters, Christopher Mason pondered for a while and said, ”Compare it with the national gene pool and see if you can find any clues.”

After comparing Lawrence Winters’ full genome sequence in the national gene pool, Leo Carter gave him an unexpected name.

”... So B1’s biological father is actually him?” Christopher Mason raised an eyebrow, saying with a bit of surprise, ”It seems this time, the fish we’ve caught are bigger than we expected.”

...

Lawrence Winters and the old Daoist returned home, where Nick Zeller and Gabrielle Winters were already there.

They were preparing lunch.

Lawrence Winters shouted exaggeratedly, ”Oh my! I’m so hungry! Mom, is there anything tasty?”

”Mama doesn’t have anything delicious, but Mother does. Do you want it?” Gabrielle Winters glanced at her, ”Straighten your tongue when you speak.”

Lawrence Winters clung to Gabrielle Winters and acted spoiled for a while before returning to her room to shower.

Though she only went out for half a day, since it was a place like Pine Cypress Cemetery, she should wash with pomelo leaves in the water.

The old Daoist was unconcerned and pulled Nick Zeller into a room to talk. ”... Nick, I’m planning to settle down in the Capital City temporarily.”

Nick Zeller immediately wailed, ”Master, spare me! Do you really want me to climb up and down for the rest of my life?! I’ve even divined my own fate! Always climbing up and down will lead to disasters!”

”Nonsense! Don’t show off your trifling fortune-telling skills in front of me!” The old Daoist almost wanted to kick Nick Zeller aside, ”I said I’ll settle in the Capital City, but never said I’d live with you!”

He opened his bank card in frustration and showed Nick the balance, ”Look! Is this enough for the down payment on a house?!”

Nick Zeller’s pupils dilated, and his eyes almost popped out, ”Master, how do you have so much money?! Not just a down payment; you could even buy the whole house in cash, and it would be nothing to you!”

The old Daoist gestured with his hand, collected his phone, and said proudly, ”Why pay in full if you can borrow money? Even if I can, I won’t.”

Nick Zeller rubbed his forehead, reluctant to discourage his master. But when it comes to buying a house, how could you fool someone? —He didn’t plan on using his own money to cover any gaps...

So he spoke honestly and tactfully, ”Master, at your age, it’s impossible to get a loan...”

Home loans typically last for thirty years.

The old Daoist was already seventy-eight; which bank would give a nearly eighty-year-old a thirty-year loan? —Even loan sharks wouldn’t do it!

The old Daoist suddenly realized and rubbed his goatee thoughtfully, saying, ”So the younger you are, the easier it is to get a loan?”

Nick nodded, ”That’s right.”

”Then buy the house using my young disciple’s name,” the elderly Daoist decided with a thud, ”I’ll pay the down payment, and I’ll handle the mortgage.”

”Ah?! Really!” Nick was both shocked and delighted, secretly feeling happy.

Lawrence truly is a little lucky star, look at this lucky break with a house just falling from the sky!

”Why would I lie to you? I get along quite well with my young disciple. I can take care of her better if she stays with me,” the elderly Daoist boasted shamelessly.

Nick’s mouth twitched, thinking that he clearly wanted Lawrence to take care of him, yet he claimed it was him taking care of Lawrence...

But thinking again about how the elderly Daoist cooked so well, Lawrence, the little foodie, will definitely move in automatically.

Nick felt a bit sour, but still said, ”Then I’ll call Lawrence and my eldest sister over, and we’ll discuss it together.”

”The house I’m buying for my young disciple, what’s it got to do with others?” Although the elderly Daoist said this, his face was beaming.

As people age, they actually enjoy staying together.

The buzz.

When he was in the mountains, although he didn’t have disciples, there were several people serving him.

Nick cheerfully went out to call Gabrielle and Lawrence in, announcing smugly, ”Lawrence, you’re going to be rich! Your master plans to settle in the Capital City and wants to buy a house using your name!”

After speaking, he happily looked at Lawrence, waiting for her to scream.

Lawrence and Gabrielle exchanged a glance and seemed not very enthusiastic.

Even the elderly Daoist raised his eyebrows high and said, ”What’s wrong? Not willing? Why not? I pay the money, what’s wrong with having the house in your name?”

Lawrence looked at Gabrielle again.

Gabrielle then held her hand and politely said to the elderly Daoist, ”...But if you buy a house using Lawrence’s name, she will face a purchase restriction when she buys another house in the future.”

”What’s this purchase restriction thing?” The elderly Daoist’s eyes widened, ”My entire cash won’t do?”

”Of course not.” Gabrielle replied politely, without the intention of coveting the elderly Daoist’s property.

Only Nick was anxious, complaining, ”Where are you thinking? Since Master wrote Lawrence’s name, the house is hers! ...What other house does she need to buy?”

The elderly Daoist also nodded repeatedly, as if it were obvious and said, ”Yes, yes! My belongings will eventually be divided into two, half to Nick, half to Lawrence. This house is just given ahead.”

Nick hurriedly said, ”In that case, there’s no need to give me, just give it to Lawrence. My belongings will all go to her anyway.”

Lawrence listened, feeling dizzy, thinking, what kind of miraculous day is today?

Not only did she see the CP she idolizes most, Mason and Graham, but also got a free house in the Capital City!

She looked at the elderly Daoist, her eyes almost glowing, and her voice as sweet as honey, ”Master Grandpa, you’re so kind! But I shouldn’t accept something I haven’t worked for, how can I...”

”You, don’t pretend to be humble.” The elderly Daoist saw through her nature at a glance and laughed, ”Now help me pick a place, where should we buy the house? I have ample money here, let’s buy a bigger one, so everyone can live together without feeling cramped.”

Lawrence excitedly opened Nick’s computer, clicked on the app for buying a house, and said, ”If money isn’t a problem, let’s buy a large flat!”

She’s been eyeing the large flats for a long time, the more the people, the more fun living in a large flat.

”How about this one? It’s quite expensive, but since Master Grandpa isn’t short of money, let’s look at this kind first.” Lawrence happily showcased it, ”Look, it’s over three hundred square meters, the elevator goes directly into the apartment, five bedrooms, six bathrooms, plus living room, dining room, study room, multimedia entertainment room, large balcony, even a sauna room!”

After glancing at the direction, the elderly Daoist asked Nick, ”Check the feng shui, how is it? Is this a new house or a second-hand one?”

Lawrence glanced at the description, ”New house. There’s another one, a second-hand house. The second-hand house is even more expensive. Of course, second-hand ones are renovated, new ones still need renovation.”

Both Nick and the elderly Daoist were skilled at assessing feng shui, new or old houses didn’t matter to them as long as the feng shui was good, that nourishes and gathers energy.

Lawrence also knew feng shui, but when buying her favorite house, she focused on the house itself rather than the feng shui.

Of course, that’s also because she knows her uncle and Master would consider feng shui carefully.

Gabrielle also got interested and gave them many constructive suggestions.

By the evening when Kenneth returned, Lawrence and the others had basically decided on the new large flat to look at the next day.

At dinner, Lawrence excitedly talked about this matter.

Nick deliberately said, ”Our Lawrence is also someone who owns a large flat now.”

Kenneth instantly felt that the house he liked was too small!
