Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 291: Chapter 162: It’s All Your Fault

Joyce Shaw nodded with a smile, expressing her gratitude once again.

After returning to the office, she quickly finished her breakfast and coffee, then headed to the company’s employee shower to take a shower and change clothes.

When she came out, Thomas was already there, leaving her an internal phone message: Shaw, come to my office.

Joyce hurriedly took the original data report and her data analysis, heading to Thomas’s office.

”Shaw, sit.” Thomas warmly walked over to greet her and casually closed the office door after she entered.

Joyce sat down with a smile, handed over her completed data analysis along with the original data report, and said, ”Thomas, I’ve finished this preliminary data analysis. You can check it when you have time.”

”Oh? You finished so quickly?” Thomas was quite surprised. ”The volume of this original data is quite large. Does our lab’s computer have such a powerful processor? Is the running speed that fast?”

Being an expert, when he said that, Joyce quickly nodded and said, ”Indeed, the volume of this original data is very large. I practically lived in the lab for a week, spending four days to complete the entire analysis.”

”... Even if you worked twenty-four hours a day without eating or drinking, it’s impossible to finish in four days.” Thomas’s voice turned cold. ”Shaw, I value your abilities very much, but I hope you won’t deliberately fake data to show efficiency just to cater to me.”

Joyce’s face turned red at Thomas’s words.

She had worked hard in the lab for a week, working continuously except for eating and bathroom breaks.

She only took short naps at the table when extremely tired, totaling less than four hours of sleep over four days!

Moreover, she had used the AI analysis software jointly developed by her and Kenneth Osborne to greatly improve analysis time and efficiency.

Yet Mr. Stewart didn’t even ask for the reason and accused her of generating fake data right off the bat!

For most people in technology, this is a great insult.

Joyce took a deep breath, suppressing the anger in her heart, saying word by word: ”Mr. Stewart, please look at my data analysis before drawing conclusions. Excuse my rudeness, I haven’t been home for a week. I want to go home early for the weekend today. — Goodbye.”

She couldn’t hold back anymore and turned to leave the office with long strides before Thomas could respond.

Back in her office, Joyce hurriedly packed her things, shouldered her backpack, and walked out.

”Director Shaw, where are you going so early?” a colleague managing the equipment seemed curious and stopped her.

Joyce said coldly, ”Move aside.”

”Hey, Director Shaw, a bit of camaraderie, please? How can you talk like that to a colleague?” the equipment management colleague said with a mischievous grin.

Joyce pushed him aside coldly, saying, ”I’m a director, and you’re just an equipment manager. We’re neither at the same level nor in the same department. Why should I tell you what I’m doing?”

The equipment management colleague seemed unprepared for Joyce, usually so affable, to suddenly act so assertively.

While he was momentarily stunned, Joyce had already walked past him with long strides, heading outside the company.

Meanwhile, in the office, Thomas also gloomily turned on the computer to verify the data analysis results Joyce did.

...

This Friday, Nora got home from work and as soon as she opened the door, she smelled the fragrance of savory braised pork.

Her eyes lit up: ”Joyce! Is it you?!”

Nora dropped her backpack and dashed to the kitchen.

Sure enough, Joyce was standing in front of the gas stove in an apron, ladling out the braised pork.

Without turning around, he said with a smile, ”Dinner’s ready, go wash your hands.”

”Alright, alright!” Nora was overjoyed and quickly went to the bathroom to wash her hands, then changed into her home clothes.

By the time she came out, Joyce had already set four dishes and a soup on the dining table.

Nora looked over and saw all her favorite dishes, her face beaming with smiles.

She pounced over, hugged Joyce, and gave him a kiss.

Joyce hadn’t been intimate with her for a long time, and couldn’t help but carry her straight to the bedroom.

...

After a long while, when they came out, the braised pork had already cooled.

Nora said sheepishly, ”Let’s heat it up in the microwave before eating.”

Joyce nodded with a satisfied smile, ”I’ll go heat it.”

The two of them enjoyed a meal together with the reheated dishes from the microwave.

After eating and drinking to their fill, Joyce went to clean up the dishes while Nora chirped next to him.

She recounted her day’s work circumstances and then asked Joyce, ”How about you? Why did you suddenly come back so early? I was startled.”

”I finished my work early, so I came back,” Joyce said, tapping her nose, ”Go take a shower. How can just one meal be enough?”

Nora paused for a moment, then blushed and went to the bathroom to shower.

...

In the middle of the night, Nora was asleep, but Joyce couldn’t sleep.

He rested his head on his arm, quietly staring at the ceiling in bed, then got up to the balcony to smoke.

On a late autumn night in the Capital City, the sound of autumn insects chirping rose and fell, occasionally disrupted by the headlights of a passing car, breaking the night’s silence.

Joyce sat in a lounge chair on the balcony smoking for a while, staring at the starry sky, holding his phone without knowing who to talk to for a long time.

Finally, he tentatively sent a WeChat message to Kenneth Osborne.

[Joyce]: Kenneth, are you asleep?

Looking at the time, it was already midnight.

Most people would have been asleep by now.

Of course, there are exceptions.

Kenneth was actually still awake.

Before long, Kenneth replied to him.

[Kenneth]: No, how about you? Not asleep either?

[Joyce]: Can’t sleep.

[Kenneth]: What’s up?

Joyce doesn’t like to complain to others, but this time he couldn’t help it. Besides the anger of not being understood by Thomas, he also felt a faint unease and fear.

[Joyce]: I worked overtime for four days this week, at the company day and night, doing data analysis, but Thomas just dismissed it in one go, thinking I was faking data. Depressed. JPG.

[Kenneth]: Is that all? Why so sensitive? It’s not a big deal, if it were Nora, she’d just make a voodoo doll and curse him till he couldn’t manage his life. Proud. JPG.

[Joyce]: But he’s Thomas! Thomas Stewart!

[Kenneth]: So what if he’s Thomas? Does he outshine Academician Paul Sterling? Indifferent. JPG. Don’t overestimate people like that, Joyce. You need to have confidence in yourself. You’re not any less than them, and given time and experience, surpassing Thomas is just a matter of minutes.

Joyce’s eyes quickly reddened. She sat straight up from the lounge chair, the pent-up energy in her chest nearly bursting forth.

Kenneth Osborne, in his heart, was someone he looked up to, and he had never expected to hear such an affirming answer from Kenneth!

And at this moment, this was exactly the encouragement he needed!
