Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 292: Chapter 163: Sometimes a Man Should Pretend Not to Understand

Joyce Shaw’s mood became bright and cheerful, even the stars above her head seemed much cuter, twinkling like a lover’s eyes.

Her body was already extremely exhausted, but she was so mentally tense that she couldn’t fall asleep.

Now that she was mentally relaxed, drowsiness instantly washed over her. She typed a few words to Kenneth Osborne and went back to her room to sleep.

Kenneth Osborne looked at the playful emojis Joyce sent on his phone and shook his head, chuckling.

He was well aware of Joyce’s abilities, just that she lacked some confidence, possibly due to family reasons.

That was understandable.

Even someone as awesome as Kenneth Osborne almost lost his confidence in the face of a super apartment.

Luckily, his Nora placed him above money, which greatly soothed his uneasy heart.

Although his rational mind told him that Nora placed his ”health” above money, Kenneth Osborne felt that sometimes a man should choose to be dense.

Occasionally, don’t be so precise with math, round it off a bit, his ”health” is approximately equal to himself.

After all, if he didn’t have his health, his own existence would cease too.

Perfect logic.

...

The next day, Kenneth Osborne didn’t go to work.

He called Blake Leaf, sent him the algorithm optimization model he worked overnight on, and asked him to validate it again with different data.

Blake Leaf hurriedly said, ”Don’t worry, boss, I’ll do it right away. Did you not sleep last night, doing it so quickly?”

Kenneth Osborne replied with a smile, ”Not too bad, caught a couple of hours’ nap in the morning.”

He rushed to finish this so he could go house-hunting with Lawrence Winters and the others today.

Just the webpage was enough to shock him; he still wanted to see the super apartment in person.

He came out of the bathroom after washing up and saw the old Daoist already in the kitchen making breakfast.

Whatever else, the old Daoist’s culinary skills were truly exceptional.

Kenneth Osborne was quite impressed.

”Morning, old master.” He went over and automatically started helping the old Daoist.

The old Daoist was in high spirits and said, ”Didn’t you say you wanted to learn cooking from me? Go, practice your knife skills first.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

Does it have to be this complicated?

Still, he went to cut the century eggs.

While stirring the porridge, the old Daoist glanced at his knife technique and suddenly said, ”... Have you practiced before?”

Kenneth Osborne looked at the knife in his hand and smiled, ”Not really practiced... but as a kid, my family sent me to the youth center to learn some moves of The Spring Chant Fist with a boxing master.”

”The Spring Chant Fist? It’s good, very good...” the old Daoist murmured, lost in memory.

Kenneth Osborne noticed the porridge was about to overflow and quickly said, ”Old master, the porridge!”

The old Daoist came to his senses, quickly turned down the heat, and added marinated lean pork to the porridge, using the residual warmth to stew the meat, making it exceptionally tender with a top-notch texture.

Once the pork was cooked, he added the finely chopped century eggs to the porridge for a quick boil, thus finishing the delicious century egg and pork congee.

Even Lawrence Winters, who wasn’t much of a fan of century egg and pork congee before, couldn’t stop eating it.

According to her analysis, the key was the proportion of spices the old Daoist used to marinate the meat; it was just perfect, making the flavor spot on.

After breakfast, everyone went house-hunting together.

Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller didn’t seem at all surprised that Kenneth Osborne would go along.

Only the old Daoist mumbled a couple of words, asking Lawrence Winters, ”Little apprentice, why is your buddy Kenneth tagging along with us?”

Lawrence Winters replied with a sweet smile, ”Because I asked him to go with us... You see, we’re either old or too young, and when we go house-hunting, we might be bullied. We need a strong, young guy to follow us for some deterrence.”

The old Daoist glanced at the handsome Kenneth Osborne, who looked like he was Photoshopped, and sneered, ”With that face of his, he probably needs to wear a mask, like the Prince of Lanling, to be intimidating!”

”Great-grandfather, you always give compliments like that, which shows you really do have a fondness for my buddy Kenneth.” Lawrence Winters winked at Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne smiled without saying a word.

...

Joyce Shaw woke up in the morning, both her body and mind returned to their best state.

It was Friday today, and she actually didn’t want to go to work, but Thomas called, insisting she go.

After making breakfast for the little wild child, she drove almost two hours to work.

Thomas had clearly said their company would move to the Capital City, but a month later, her salary had increased by fifty percent, yet the company relocation was still nowhere in sight.

Joyce parked her car in the underground parking lot of the company building and walked out leisurely with a gentle smile on her face.
