Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 275: Chapter 152: Another Scheme

Gabrielle Winters didn’t go out today; she stayed at home to prepare a meal.

Even if the old Daoist is staying at a hotel, he will come to eat at their house, so she was prepared for that.

Unexpectedly, the old Daoist didn’t stay at a hotel but directly lodged at their house.

Gabrielle Winters didn’t oppose this since he was staying in Nick Zeller’s room, which had nothing to do with her.

Both she, Nick Zeller, and Lawrence Winters’ rooms have private bathrooms, and there is also a public large bathroom in the suite, which Kenneth Osborne uses.

The old Daoist had met Gabrielle Winters once twenty years ago, and now seeing her again, he felt nostalgic and shook her hand, saying, ”It’s been twenty years since we last met. Seeing you have recovered, I’m very happy. Why haven’t you considered remarrying all these years?”

Gabrielle Winters: ”...”

She awkwardly smiled and said, ”Are you confusing me with someone else? I don’t remember meeting you.”

Nick Zeller quickly intervened, saying, ”My master is old and sometimes gets things mixed up. Ten years ago, when I took Lawrence to the mountains to see him, my older sister didn’t come with us.”

The old Daoist seemed like he wanted to say something but instead changed the topic after looking at Nick Zeller’s face and laughed, ”Oh, I see, my mistake. Lawrence, your mother seems quite familiar, like someone I’ve met before.”

”Master, that can’t be... My mom is so beautiful and unique; how could you have met her somewhere?” Lawrence Winters made a funny face, ”You just think you’ve met my mom because I look a lot like her?”

”Oh... yes... Hahaha... Look at my eyesight, my memory! Truly getting old is not optional!” The old Daoist laughed it off, moving past the awkwardness.

Gabrielle Winters glanced at them and then headed to the kitchen to heat up oil and start cooking.

Nick Zeller took the old Daoist to settle into his room.

Once inside, Nick Zeller closed the door and whispered, ”Master, you nearly scared me into an out-of-body ascension!”

The old Daoist tilted his head, thought for a moment, and laughed, ”I made a mistake. Twenty years ago, Lawrence’s mom didn’t meet me; it was I who saw her.”

”Yes, she was unconscious back then, how could she have met you? I didn’t even say it was you...” Nick Zeller stammered, ”Just remember you are only my master and Lawrence’s master of masters. You were the one who helped introduce me to several businesses so we could make a living.”

The old Daoist nodded lightly, ”You’re not wrong. Back then, you insisted on dropping out to learn the Celestial Path with me, wasn’t it because it earned more money?”

”... Actually, it’s not that much.” Nick Zeller chuckled, ”Mainly because I can talk my way into anything.”

”Talk your way into what?! Feng Shui is the most scientifically significant knowledge in the Celestial Path Sect! Have you actually learned anything all these years, always rushing to make money?!”

”I’ve learned, I’ve learned, otherwise how could I always be so accurate?” Nick Zeller quickly pleaded, cheekily smiling, ”Don’t be mad, Master! You’re like a reincarnated parent to me! I’ll listen to anything you say!”

”If you listened to everything I said, you wouldn’t be unmarried and childless... If you had a son, it would’ve been great... then Lawrence, a girl, wouldn’t have to work so hard.” The old Daoist sulkily said, ”Master, you’ve forgotten! You made me vow to not marry or have children so that I could join the sect! — We agreed on this long ago!” Nick Zeller almost stomped his feet.

If people found out that his vow ”not to marry or have children” wasn’t his master’s condition to accept him as a disciple, he would be in trouble!

He couldn’t imagine himself at his age still bustling in the dating market...

The mere thought made him wish he could die on the spot.

The old Daoist snapped back, smacked himself on the mouth, ”Forgot again. Alright, alright, I won’t bring this up anymore. Sigh, once you tell a lie, you need countless more to maintain it.”

”So people who aren’t smart should never lie.” Nick Zeller quickly fawned over the old Daoist, ”You’re such a genius, brilliant since childhood, praised globally even in university, of course lying is no problem for you!”

The old Daoist squinted and glanced at him, then stood up, ”I don’t want to talk nonsense with you. I’m going to take a shower. You take the mandarin duck from my snakeskin bag, slaughter it, clean it up, and freeze it, or else we’ll have to keep feeding the duck every day, which is really troublesome.”

”The woven bag contains bamboo fungus, matsutake mushrooms, lion’s mane mushrooms, and bird’s nest. Take them for Lawrence. She likes matsutake mushrooms and bamboo fungus. She hasn’t had much lion’s mane mushrooms; let her try them. The bird’s nest was sent by a foreign friend; I’ve kept it for a long time and reluctant to eat it, so let’s give it to her.”

Nick Zeller felt a bit sour, ”Master, what about me? You care so much for your disciple’s grandson, what about me, the disciple...”

”You? You’re so tall and strong, what else do you need to eat? I have deer whip to help with virility, do you want it?” The old Daoist rolled his eyes at him, shooing him away like a fly, ”Get out, get out, I want to take a bath.”

Nick Zeller walked out carrying the bags. He closed the door behind him and then went to the kitchen to find Gabrielle Winters.

Lawrence Winters was sitting by the kitchen island, sending messages to her boss, Edward Foster.

[Lawrence]: Little Edward, my family has someone staying over for a few more days, so I would like to request a week’s leave to accompany them, is that okay?

Edward Foster immediately replied.

[Little Edward]: Lawrence, what kind of family member is it? Do you need any help? I’m quite familiar with the Capital City; I can drive you guys around.

Lawrence Winters: ....

She sighed and replied: Little Edward, you still haven’t said if you agree with my leave request. I’ve only been with the company for a month and haven’t reached the point where I can take annual leave.

[Little Edward]: That’s not a problem. I agree. Just consider it your annual leave in advance. When you become eligible, we’ll deduct it then.

Lawrence Winters smiled, replying: Thank you, Little Edward! You’re awesome! Thumbs up.JPG.

Nick Zeller walked in carrying bags just in time to see Lawrence Winters messaging.

He glanced and felt even more sour, ”Lawrence, why is this Little Edward so easy to talk to? Doesn’t he have any ulterior motives towards you?”
