Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 290: Chapter 162: It’s All Your Fault (Second Update, uu945 Alliance Hierarch+)

Lawrence Winters smiled happily, holding Kenneth Osborne’s hand, and said, ”So it’s settled, Ken, you’ll come with us to see the house. Once we move, you’ll have to stay with us too.”

Kenneth Osborne smiled and blinked, ”Sure, we’ll live together.”

Lawrence returned to her room, feeling very happy.

She had already showered, but since she made noodles for Kenneth, she went to the bathroom to wash her face again.

Sitting in front of the vanity, applying skincare products, she saw someone had sent her a WeChat message.

She picked it up and saw it was from Wild Girl.

Instead of typing, Lawrence chose to make a voice call.

Wild Girl answered immediately and started talking to her, ”Lawrence, Joyce still hasn’t come home. Sigh, he hasn’t been home for a week again, staying up all night often. I’m really worried about his health.”

Lawrence had just advised Kenneth not to sacrifice his health for money, so she immediately resonated with her and said, ”Right, even though he’s young, he shouldn’t keep it up. Haven’t you advised Joyce?”

”I was too embarrassed to, but I hinted at it once or twice. He said it’s his golden period for career development right now, and he must seize this opportunity,” Wild Girl sighed, ”I’m not trying to stop him from his career; I’m just worried about his health.”

”Mm-mm-mm, I completely understand!” Lawrence finally felt she had a common language with Wild Girl, ”I told Ken the same thing. Ken has also been working overtime a lot recently, though he doesn’t stay out all night. He just comes home at eight or nine in the evening. Occasionally, it’s earlier, around six or seven. The nine-to-five doesn’t exist for him.”

Wild Girl: ”...”

Why did it sound odd?

Wild Girl laughed and tentatively asked, ”...Are you and Scholar Ken together?”

Lawrence was puzzled, ”No? What gave you that impression?”

Wild Girl: ”...Your tone sounds like his girlfriend...”

Lawrence burst out laughing, ”I thought it was something like that... Of course not. Can’t good friends care about each other’s health? He is living with me, my mom, and my uncle, and we all care about him.”

Wild Girl: ”...Alright, as long as you’re happy.”

They chatted a bit more before Wild Girl started feeling sleepy.

She yawned and said to Lawrence, ”I’m going to sleep, you should sleep early too. Goodnight.”

Lawrence nodded, ”Goodnight.”

After their voice call ended, Wild Girl sent Joyce a ”I’m going to sleep” WeChat sticker before turning off the light and going to sleep.

At that moment, Joyce was frowning, looking at the three 27-inch high-definition monitors in front of him, murmuring, ”...Where did this raw AI data come from?”

The screens were filled with densely packed green numbers and symbols jumping around.

He looked at his data analysis, then at the original data report Thomas gave him, falling into deep thought.

...

That night was pretty much another sleepless one.

Joyce walked out of the computer lab and went to the break room to make himself a cup of black coffee.

As he drank, he chatted with Wild Girl on his phone.

When he saw the sticker yesterday, more than an hour had passed, and he didn’t reply because he didn’t want to disturb Wild Girl’s sleep.

It was now morning, likely when Wild Girl was waking up.

Sure enough, Wild Girl had a sweet and affectionate conversation with him for a while before getting up, then rushed with panic, leaving a message: I’m late! I’m late! I’m going to be late!

It’s all your fault! Blame you! It’s all on you!

Chatting with you makes me lose track of time!

As she complained, Wild Girl quickly washed up, grabbed her bag, and headed to work.

Joyce couldn’t help but smile.

With his head down, holding his phone in one hand and his coffee cup in the other, he almost bumped into someone.

”Eh? Isn’t this our tech director? Didn’t you go home again last night? Tsk tsk, this isn’t work; this is working yourself to death!”

Joyce looked up and saw it was some of the newly hired colleagues at the company, but none were in tech.

One was in equipment management, and another was an office assistant.

Joyce politely nodded, ”Good morning.”

”Good morning.”

The office assistant was particularly considerate and even brought him breakfast.

”Director Joyce, I specially bought this for you, rice dumplings, dough sticks, and a marinated egg.”

Joyce was indeed starving and didn’t want to eat instant noodles again, so he quickly accepted it with a smile, ”Thank you so much. How much was it? I’ll transfer it to you.”

”No need, Director Joyce, the boss said employee meals could be reimbursed.” She winked at him.
