Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 253: Chapter 141: My People—I Can’t Even Bear to Scold Them (Part 2)

He streamed both live broadcasts onto one screen and aired them simultaneously.

On the left was the news of the ”mistress” being beaten, and on the right was Becca, accompanied by Zoe Johnson, looking pitifully at the reporters.

This way, it could be proven that there was absolutely no connection between her and the so-called ”mistress.”

Ms. Zeng was also watching the live broadcast and couldn’t help but praise, ”Miss Winters, how did you know that the person wasn’t Becca? To be honest, I’ve been her manager for years and didn’t even recognize it wasn’t her.”

Lawrence Winters laughed and said, ”If I told you I was just guessing, would you believe it?”

”Really just a guess?!” Ms. Zeng was too surprised, ”Then your luck is amazing!”

Lawrence Winters smiled without speaking, thinking to herself that her uncle would talk half the time about feng shui without making sense, so why couldn’t she guess randomly?

...

In the live broadcast video, Becca took off the black mask from her face, revealing her snowy white skin and eyes full of tears.

She stood up, choking with emotion, ”I am really upset, it clearly has nothing to do with me, I don’t know why someone would be so vicious and use my name to trend on social media...”

Lawrence Winters looked at the computer screen, shaking her head with a smile, ”Are these lines memorized beforehand? Why not change them up a bit.”

Sure enough, a reporter began to question her, ”Miss Tao, according to the trending topics we’ve seen, none of them had your name; it only mentioned ’Tao XX.’ Moreover, the latest news from the reporters over there states that the real mistress being beaten is indeed surnamed Tao.”

Becca was startled and at a loss, quickly glancing at Zoe Johnson.

”Yes, Miss Tao, even your company’s PR spokesperson immediately came forward to clarify for you, stating it was a case of mistaken identity. Why didn’t you promptly respond to her post on Weibo but instead chose to hold a press conference here?”

Becca became more flustered, her lips quivering, unable to utter a word.

Zoe Johnson took the microphone, speaking solemnly, ”This further proves that someone is deliberately tarnishing Becca’s reputation with a premeditated scheme.”

”They’re spreading some half-truths, skirting the edge of the law, leaving Becca with no way to speak out.” She glanced at the reporter who just asked the question, smiling, ”As you just asked, same origin, why the rush to harm each other?”

Hearing this, the reporters became more intrigued, passing their microphones to Becca, ”Miss Tao, what does Manager Zhao mean? Where is your agent? Your assistant? Why is no one by your side except Manager Zhao?”

Zoe Johnson had been in the entertainment industry for many years, knowing several particularly close reporter friends who were now helping her out.

Becca seeing the questions finally following the script, finally relaxed, although her eyes reddened, she said, ”There are things I shouldn’t say, but I don’t know why, they all left, leaving just me. If it weren’t for Sister Zhao... In any case, this spokesperson just joined our company, freshly graduated from university and immediately became a senior executive, and... and... she particularly likes to target me...”

”Really?! Then is today’s clarification Weibo also targeting you? Shouldn’t it be watching the drama from the sidelines or stirring up trouble? Why would she help clarify for you?” Some reporters who didn’t get along with Zoe Johnson asked questions to break the scene.

Zoe Johnson ambiguously replied, ”You should ask her, maybe she had a pang of conscience or feared that Becca would complain to little Edward... We can’t just look at what she said, we need to see what she did.”

With a simple sentence, she easily pinned the whole scheme onto Lawrence Winters, citing internal strife and rivalry.

Becca ignored these undermining reporters, speaking only to those following the script’s questions, ”... Right, they say she has connections above, I really don’t know who. I’m just a humble small-time actress, I hope this doesn’t affect my career. I truly love performing.”

With that, she bowed deeply to the reporters at a ninety-degree angle.

Then, while straightening up, she suddenly covered her mouth and rushed to a nearby trash can to vomit.

Zoe Johnson immediately moved to shield Becca with her body and said to the continuously photographing reporters, ”Becca isn’t feeling well, please step aside, we need to go to the hospital.”

Behind her, Becca already had her mask back on. With Zoe protecting her, they wove through the reporters, got into a nanny van at the door, and headed to a private hospital she was familiar with to visit the obstetrics department.

Although they might not glean any clues from the private hospital, imaginative entertainment journalists had already mentally scripted a ”Duel for Foster” family feud.

Becca and Zoe hadn’t even come out of the hospital before she was back on the trending topics.

These tweets kept popping up in the trending section as Edward Foster had yet to return to the country, but his phone was already blowing up with calls from the domestic media, as well as relatives and friends.

Especially his mom, who was over the moon, had the butler call him for half an hour, finally waking him up from his sleep, excitedly asking, ”Son! Are you getting married?! Hurry up and get married, let me hold my grandchild soon!”

Edward Foster, forced into ”marriage and grandchildren” before he’s fully awake: ”???”

He looked at his phone, pinched himself hard, grimacing in pain, muttering, ”... I’m not dreaming, am I? What’s going on here?”

His mom, hearing this on the other end of the phone, shouted, ”Haven’t you seen the news?! I’ve always said, walk the night enough times and you’ll meet a ghost; you should calm down... Since Becca is pregnant...”

Edward was even more confused, ”Wait! Wait! What are you talking about? Becca is pregnant? Since when? She even has a variety show contract, which states she can’t be pregnant within a year, what’s she out of her mind doing?”

Mrs. Foster was stunned, ”What did you say? What do you mean can’t be pregnant? I don’t care, anyway the child is yours, you have to be responsible!”

She didn’t care about the girl’s background, as long as the character was good and she could have children, she liked her.

Edward Foster snorted, ”Have her take a DNA test; if it’s mine, I’ll definitely be responsible! What nonsense is this?!”

He opened Weibo and finally understood what was going on.

Then he saw tweet after tweet, filled with veiled criticism and insinuations at his newly hired PR spokesperson Lawrence Winters, and he immediately fumed.

My people, even I can’t bear to say a harsh word to, and you bastards are looking to revolt?!
