Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 285: Chapter 159: How Many Good Brothers Do You Have? (Second Update, 300+ Monthly Tickets)

Only when Lydia Graham and Christopher Mason’s figures disappeared did Lawrence Winters reluctantly withdraw his gaze.

The old Daoist snorted and said sarcastically, ”How could they not separate? Even if there’s a thousand-year-old iron threshold, eventually it just becomes a mound of dirt. When people die, they’ll naturally separate.”

Lawrence Winters frowned and angrily said, ”...How can you say that about my idol CP?! Breaking up a CP will bring down thunderbolts!”

Just as she was about to turn and look at the old Daoist’s sister’s tombstone again, another man strolled out from behind the nearby large tree.

Lawrence Winters was so startled she almost screamed.

Raising her eyes in shock, she saw it was the president of the SSA Private Equity Fund, Francis Johnson. She let out a huge sigh of relief, patting her chest and saying, ”It’s actually President Johnson! Gosh, I should check the calendar more carefully when I leave the house, see what day today is?—I guess it’s the kind of day to meet VIPs!”

Francis Johnson seemed quite surprised. He frowned and asked, ”What VIPs? You mean me?—You’re overestimating me, what kind of VIP am I?”

”Of course not you... But compared to us, you’re a VIP.” Lawrence Winters said half enviously, half jokingly, ”You’re really rich! Compared to you, I’m in the destitute class.”

Francis Johnson took out a cigarette, lit it, took a puff, and asked Lawrence Winters, ”Why are you here? Where’s Kenneth? Didn’t he come with you?”

He seemed to completely dismiss the old Daoist next to Lawrence Winters as someone who came with her.

Lawrence Winters had to introduce, ”Kenneth is at work, focused on making money for you, how could he skip work? I came with my relative.”

She walked up to the old Daoist, smiling, ”He’s my master-grandfather, my uncle’s master.”

Due to Kenneth Osborne, Francis Johnson was quite familiar with Lawrence Winters’ family situation.

He nodded and greeted the old Daoist, ”Hello, nice weather today.”

The old Daoist didn’t even blink, just stared dazedly at the tombstone.

Lawrence Winters awkwardly explained, ”President Johnson, my master-grandfather has been in the mountains for years, not fond of interacting with people.”

Francis Johnson didn’t mind, saying indifferently, ”You don’t have to be so formal with me, just call me Francis.”

Lawrence Winters felt a spark in her heart, smiled and said, ”Then I’ll call you Brother Francis, you’re older, have a higher status, it’s worth calling you ’brother’.”

Francis Johnson narrowed his eyes, clutching the cigarette, smiled and said, ”Being called brother, that’s something, you have to pay up for the title change.”

With that, he took out his phone and swiftly transferred 8888.88 to Lawrence Winters, with the note: Title Change Fee.

Upon seeing the number, Lawrence Winters almost fainted with laughter, repeatedly saying, ”Brother Francis! You’re like my real brother!”

The old Daoist beside her turned his head to give her a glance, chuckling, ”My disciple’s granddaughter is truly remarkable, exactly how many good brothers do you have?—And they’re all real brothers!”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”.

Francis Johnson didn’t mind at all, lightly said, ”I’m more than a decade older than her, calling me Uncle Francis would also work.”

Lawrence Winters was even more surprised, ”Brother Francis, are you really in your thirties?! It’s not obvious at all! You’ve maintained yourself so well! I thought you were about twenty-five or six.”

Francis Johnson waved his hand, ”Okay, don’t go overboard with the flattery. I’ve got things to do, I’m off.”

Lawrence Winters watched Francis Johnson keep walking, following the stone pathway deeper into Pine Cypress Cemetery.

Her curiosity peaked, so she followed along.

Not far from the small grave of the old Daoist’s sister, Lawrence Winters saw Francis Johnson stop at a rather luxurious tombstone.

He stood in front of the tombstone for a moment, then half-squatted, taking out a tissue, carefully cleaning the tombstone, then walked around the grave, pulling out weeds by hand.

He spent a good half an hour doing it before turning back and saying, ”Since you’re here, come over.”

Lawrence Winters awkwardly stepped over, embarrassed, and said, ”I was just curious... Brother Francis, I didn’t mean anything by it...”

”I know, this isn’t a secret here.” Francis Johnson said calmly, his gaze circling that tombstone a few times.

Lawrence Winters squinted and saw that the tombstone simply read ”Tomb of Sarah White.”

There was no signature or header, but the tombstone was exquisitely made, with a crying little angel standing in front of it, a bouquet of fresh flowers at its feet.

Lawrence Winters asked in surprise, ”...Did someone come by earlier?”

She clearly hadn’t seen Francis Johnson bring flowers, so these flowers had to have been placed there earlier.

The flowers looked relatively fresh, the person who left them likely left not too long ago.

Lawrence Winters instinctively looked around but didn’t see anyone else.
