Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1283: Chapter 1074: The Elusive Enemy

Hill nodded. Even though he always considered himself human, he couldn’t deny that humans, as a species, are indeed quite cruel.

If one truly gets used to treating a species as a daily resource, they won’t easily stop consuming it, even if it takes a great amount of consumption, unless a better replacement is found or the resource is finally exhausted… then the Dragon Slaying Suit might go from a well-known joke toy to a regular weapon.

No wonder Bahamut chose to blend into the Anser Divine System back then and even ascended to the position of Main God because of his bravery in battle.

And Tiamat, as the Evil Goddess, seemed to be dealing with that Bahamut who shone brightly in the Anser Divine System, but in the end, perished together with the Main God of Mulholland, who had just been killed by Gewoosh and resurrected in her avatar.

Bahamut also fell because he invested most of his Divine Power into that aspect in the Anser Divine System, leaving only Lower Rank Divine Power.

Although dragons never had a high demand for Divine Power… it’s never been easy to make a dragon willingly give up its interests.

Lately, as the first to resurrect, the Lord of Kind Dragons, the eternal enemy of Tiamat, clearly knowing that the Chromatic Dragon Queen was trying to use the three evil dragons of Quel Senta for resurrection, Bahamut made no moves.

If this is indeed the real reason behind the fall of those two Dragon Gods, Hill would certainly not doubt Shaer’s words… even if it required sacrificing Divine Power, the Chromatic Dragon Queen and the Platinum Dragon King would definitely come.

With so many Dragon Balls around, how could there not be a dragon golem?

Bahamut and Tiamat would absolutely not tolerate such a situation; even if it meant sacrificing a dragon avatar, they would both show up on Snowfall Island.

On Toril, aside from the protagonists on the Path of Destiny, sometimes things have to follow a certain rhythm; at other times, they don’t have that habit, first sending several waves of subordinates before the big shots step in.

Unless they’ve truly misjudged the enemy’s combat strength… then at most they’d send a couple of waves before quickly sending in the bosses.

Fortunately, “Snow Cloud Peak” chose to directly initiate a full-area mission… once the dragon golem appears, it’s no different than facing several Ancient Dragons directly.

Hill turned his head and glanced over, “List, tell your grandfather I need to use Purwell… if he’s willing, he can follow Purwell to Snowfall Island to take a look, but don’t come out of Purwell’s body.

If he has his own stuff to do, the area below the Floating Castle is actually quite calm and definitely won’t affect him.

Then have Purwell bring Arausato and the others into the half-plane over Snowfall Island, and once the two Dragon Gods descend, let them out.

Aside from settling old scores and paying old debts, we also need to make sure no sneaky little thief from Toril steals any Dragon Balls.”

List quickly returned, “Mr. Fran decided to go see for himself, he promises he won’t leave Purwell.”

Hill nodded, knowing that his grandfather definitely understood his subtle hint.

Lansendel seemed a bit puzzled, tilting his head to look at Hill, “Why are you suddenly interested in this? I thought you’d never get involved in these Toril matters!”

Hill lowered his eyes, smiling gently, “Well… I suddenly had a premonition that in the future, when searching for those who harmed Teraxil, I might become comrades with dragons, regardless of the kind.

Those things in the Gnomish Inventor’s War Treasury feel extraordinarily familiar to me.

Especially that Golden Dragon Ball.

Can it control an entire race, making both good and evil dragons obey orders?

It’s damned familiar!”

Lansendel straightened his head, speaking in a serious tone, “In any case, finding the true enemies is a great thing… not everyone can identify the real culprits and retaliate.

I wish you and your Teraxil success soon.”

Hill smiled and nodded, “Thank you very much, I’d definitely throw a celebratory banquet, and please make sure the Lord of Dawn attends.”

“Can my followers also join?”

“Of course, there’s no limit.”

Shaer wasn’t paying much attention to this conversation; she simply watched the giant screen quietly, occasionally glancing at Celene with eyes cold and terrifying, seemingly reverting to the Goddess who cared for nothing ten thousand years ago.

With the lead he had, Hill keenly sensed her change, his eyelashes fluttering slightly, and he gently called out, “Respected Shaer, I’m a bit confused; the Anser Divine System and the Mulholland Pantheon should come from neighboring universes, perhaps even originating from the same world.

Why did Mulholland grow so strong on the Ferun Great Land, able to suppress even dragons?

Gnomish Inventors are all Mages, right? Mages from ten thousand years ago didn’t seem to pursue faith.

Why would they worship deities from an outer universe?”

“It’s simple, back then the Ferun Pantheon was neither strong nor united, not even qualifying as a God System, merely residuals from my battles with Celene, learning from the Elf Deity System how to absorb faith.

Hehe~

It might be due to their connections with the elves that Shuni and those guys became this way.

The only ones really capable of resisting the entire incoming God System would probably be me, Lansendel, and Coron. At that time, Celene was just Suren, still asleep.

As for Shantia, hehe~

Back then… the elves had just slowly begun to recover from the Crown War and Rose’s downfall, so Coron couldn’t possibly pay attention to matters on Ferun Great Land. Anyway, it was all humans rising by taking advantage of the elves’ plight.

As for the Ferun deities, they suddenly discovered a New Continent without knowing what to do, and the elves… just did whatever they wanted, never propagating their own doctrines!

So everyone was cautiously probing as they established their own circles of faith.

Including me and Lansendel, we were actually focused on the Starry Sky or other deities, not considering the few humans on the land.

At that time, Imasca was an entire Mage Empire, unlikely to believe in Human Gods, but they had the misfortune of being struck by a plague.

The mages were fine, but ordinary people serving them were basically wiped out; humanity was already scarce in Ferun back then.

What is AO like? You should know, without the concept of a native God System, you recruit from outside!

So those mages inexplicably opened the Otherworld Gate, coincidentally linking to the Universe where the Mulholland Pantheon resided.

The Main God of that God System, ah, it should be called Pharaoh, became interested in Ferun Great Land and brought his Lesser Gods, cutting a portion of Divinity and sending it through the Otherworld Gate into Ferun.

Along with sending to Imasca… a large number of slaves.

Since then, slavery began on Ferun Great Land.

Rather than calling them Main God and followers, it would be better to say they were perfectly matched allies… When the consumable slaves ran out, the Mulholland Pantheon led the Imasca People to the Anser Divine System’s Universe to snatch people from there.

You know the final outcome.

After that came the emergence of Ferun’s first God System, the Naish God System.”

After she finished speaking, she couldn’t help but laugh: “No wonder William always says our Toril’s doctrine is about opportunism.

Now, when deities of Outer Universes hear Aber-Toril, they shiver, and no one dares to send their Divinity here for absorption and transformation!”

She suddenly laughed, the previous cold and murderous aura dissipated in an instant, reverting back to the Shaer that Hill was familiar with.

Lansendel quietly listened to Shaer throughout, temporarily losing interest in speaking… The great Golden Peacock involuntarily collapsed on the sunny grass, lifting its two claws to the sky, gazing with a trace of confusion at the flowing white clouds overhead.

At that time, for other deities, there might have been keen interest in watching two Otherworld God Systems fight fiercely on Ferun Great Land, but to him, it was a bittersweet memory: it should have been Tai Ji’s last days, the wonderful stories between them happened during that period.

Then came the abrupt turn in destiny.

The beautiful and romantic Goddess of Fate ultimately perished by a fate she couldn’t control.

Though Lansendel’s posture was comical, the usual enthused Chuunibyou Teenager aura surrounding him was now filled with a poignant air that prevented observers from laughing.

Celene suddenly broke the silence… Her intuition was always sharp, during Shaer’s previous moments of clearly being trapped in cruel memories, she couldn’t have missed it, hence she maintained silence, too afraid to speak.

Only now, sensing Shaer had come out of that mood, did she rejoin the conversation.

“Since you might cooperate with the Giant Dragons in the future, why not go, Hill?” she asked, curious.

“My territory doesn’t welcome the Evil Faction, but White Dragons can be an exception.” Hill gently squinted, smiling, “The White Dragons of The North may rely on Agleya for survival in the future, so Tiamat wouldn’t think I would favor the Metal Dragons.

But with Terry present, when the Dragon Egg descended, I established a connection with Bahamut, who said the Metal Dragons would appreciate my help.

Since it’s rare to have ties with both sides, it’s better not to appear when both of them are present there… Otherwise, a single wrong word could erase connections with both sides.

Anyway, I don’t need a deeper friendship with them, as long as they don’t hold me back in action, and a little understanding can be built during battle, so that I don’t have to worry about a dragon spraying fire from behind during joint fights, that’s enough.

For us Teraxil, what we can truly rely on for combat is still the Undead Tribe.”

Celene thought for a while, then nodded in agreement: “Indeed, Giant Dragons, individually, might make quite good friends.

But viewing them as a whole… they are absolutely untrustworthy allies. Occasional cooperation is still feasible.”
