Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1269: Chapter 1060: Nasir’s Dilemma

Is this how you Teraxil manage your followers?

Believe in whoever you want?

Devis felt his head suddenly get a bit heated; he really couldn’t understand how the Undead Tribe could so casually say such terrifying things.

How could it not matter?

Simultaneously believing in Mystra and Elisui is one thing, but simultaneously believing in Shaer and Lansendel?

The people hanging on the Wall of the Faithless aren’t that crazy.

Edna looked sympathetically at this mage who grew up in the land of worship of Azuth in Quel Senta… It’s likely Devis will never understand what it means to let faith follow profession.

Having grown up in the Hidden Forest, she could barely accept the ways of the Undead Tribe… Whichever deity is useful to them, that’s whose followers they become.

Edna could sense that the strongest belief in the hearts of the Undead Tribe was actually in themselves.

Because they believed that their abilities could allow them to live satisfactory lives, they never placed their faith in anyone else.

At most, they would agree with the views of a particular deity, but it is completely impossible for them to fully devote themselves to any deity.

Edna knew well that even from Mystra’s standpoint, she wouldn’t find such superficial believers detestable, considering they haven’t denied the existence of All Gods.

Though somewhat ethereal and ephemeral, when the Undead Tribe mutter about a deity, they genuinely believe in its existence and corresponding abilities.

Such superficial believers are far more useful than those who usually don’t need you, but want you to save their lives at a critical moment, hoping for some extra money and a house as a bonus.

Therefore, Edna never doubted the power of William and that God of Time and Space who never shows his face.

Especially that God of Time and Space… If he has the ability to find a world with such a large Undead Tribe, he surely has the ability to find more.

Nasir remained silent.

He thought Devis was a bit foolish.

Is it possible that Shaer is unaware of the nature of the Undead Tribe, or that Lansendel is oblivious?

Clearly, whether it’s the bizarre divine arts or spells used by these elves, they are all loaded and used just like the Weave, and it’s perfectly normal to discard them after use.

If any deity is able to tolerate such behaviors, just roll up their divine arts and hang them on their pseudo-Weave for anyone to choose from!

For instance, the unconcerned Lansendel… he indeed cherishes his followers but never cares whether his followers convert.

After all, it’s perfectly normal for a young person to mature and no longer want to live such an excessively passionate life… The followers who convert most frequently and swiftly in Toril aren’t those of the Master of Death, but of the Lord of Dawn!

He’s indeed the Toril deity most accepting of such chaotic faith from the Undead Tribe… excluding the Elf Deity System.

Rose’s betrayal of Coron is indeed an inevitable event… when one wants everything and refuses to discard any trash… while the other doesn’t even mind his Chosen changing faiths, as long as they’re happy.

It’s quite curious, with so many Elf Goddesses, how did Coron pick Rose?

Maybe he thought they complemented each other… but it turned out to be a disaster that exploded?

Nasir glanced at the Teraxil Elves outside, these undead just added some modulation to the chaos typical of the elves.

The endurance of the Toril Gods far surpasses that of their followers; it all depends on who can accept such an eccentric style!

Otherwise, why is it that even though Shaer and William have a closer relationship, the Undead Tribe still doesn’t have the right to use Shadow Magic?

It certainly must be because their Main God, after much deliberation, couldn’t accept sharing a priest with something like Lansendel!

Nasir couldn’t help but shiver… The Undead Tribe can not only practice Lansendel’s tenets in the morning, Tyr’s in the afternoon, and Shaer’s at night, but might even toggle repeatedly between Shaer and Celene!

Thus, the Goddess of the Night has absolutely no intention of working with the lover from her otherworld, and Nasir completely understands that!

Just the thought of the person next to him suddenly switching from chanting Shaer’s supremacy to the gentle, kind Celene would give Nasir goosebumps, and he instinctively touched the dagger on his arm… It’s either him or them!

The ‘Old Age Striking King’ looked at the tablet in his hand and shouted to the ‘Perfect Bald’ standing on the mast, with his hand shading his eyes while gazing into the distance at the large seaweed: “Baldy! The Old Dog says to have a chat with the respectable Lady Ambori, Goddess of the Sea, and ask how she ended up here!”

After shouting, she couldn’t help but grin into the cabin, using the hand not holding the Jade Holy Scripture to press her arm.

But on the other side, Ambori seemed quite pleased.

She didn’t even consider that the person speaking opposite was the Undead who used to call her ‘Big Seaweed’ and ‘Shark-head’s Ribbon Mom’ every day. She laughed arrogantly, “Haha~ Realized you can’t beat me, huh?

You don’t even know how to break the Puzzle Lock on the island, right!

Haha!

If it weren’t for that little bitch Agleya forcing me to hide in the North Sea closest to the Great Glacier, if it weren’t for that half-elf called Hill, that made Valkin willing to pay enough to kill him! I wouldn’t have accidentally gotten the Oracle Sphere with the Nibro coordinates, hahahaha~

Even though it’s a one-time use, I! The great Goddess of the Sea, Ambori, how could I not find an island in the vast ocean!

Humph humph~ The Puzzle Lock here might be strong, but how could an island without a master resist the great Ambori!”

‘Old Age Striking King’ muttered under his breath while writing furiously: “Old Dog can rest assured, this idiot Seaweed really hasn’t found the underground labyrinth where the Ningbrow Astrolabe is located.

She probably hasn’t even found where the central zone of the Puzzle Lock is.

Tsk tsk, is the Seaweed’s brain really just a single strand?”

“It’s Safras again… this guy is really quite capable!” Nasir said shaking his head, “Luckily my Lord doesn’t have such capable Lesser Gods, tsk tsk, Mystra, really… died a worthy death.”

Edna gently raised a hand, softly stroking her browband… her ring finger pressed hard, almost quivering with anger under her skin… she flashed a grin full of ferocity at the back of the head of the ‘Old Age Striking King’ who was peering at the big Seaweed… she truly admired herself for controlling her furious emotions, leaving only an elegant, leisurely back to that bastard Apostle of the Night.

Even knowing, Nasir probably had some suspicions, which is why he dared to taunt so cockily… apart from elves and undead, the humans here are all legitimate lineages of Azuth, due to some incidents a few years back, they all hold a bit of resentment against Midnight Mystra, and wouldn’t react too strongly to a few disrespectful words.

But these few words, for Edna who knows exactly who she really is, not only carried great offense but also immense insult!

Nasir really deserves to be noticed by Shaer despite not being that loyal, damn, he sure knows how to hit where it hurts… but if she weren’t Mystra herself, it would just be a casual mockery!

Elvia belatedly realized the meaning in Nasir’s words… although the White Dragon is shrewd, such roundabout sarcasm can only be grasped by humans, right?

Had it not been for Edna’s glaring anger, she wouldn’t have given it a thought.

But… the bundled-up White Dragon Queen stealthily opened one eye to sneak a peek at Nasir’s backside… kicking him now seems a bit ill-timed.

Edna is holding back herself!

Nasir surveyed the atmosphere in the cabin… He could directly overlook Leonard who was laughing joyously beside him, he probably never suspected anything from start to finish.

And that Luca could be disregarded as well.

Devis… he was in deep thought, probably contemplating whom the God of Prophecy intends to use Ambori against… does that even need pondering?

Were it not for the undead tribe’s thorough cleansing of the coastal areas, the God of Prophecy wouldn’t pin hopes of fulfilling that ‘Kelben is doomed, and Deepwater City will inevitably fall to the flames of war’ prophecy on this Seaweed’s head!

He’s indeed very skilled, weaving conspiracies and calculations into one plan after another, but characters like Black Robe Halaster, Safras still lacks the ability to easily involve them in his plots.

Tsk tsk, why didn’t Safras prophesy to remind Laila and Kelben to send one of their clever kids to study architecture!

It just so happens that the most renowned architect in Deepwater City is Gendilarei!

A child taught by the Chosen of the Lord of Dawn certainly could rebuild an unparalleled City of Radiance… just not sure if Laila would let her child squander so much effort and money on such a grand project!

After all, both her sons could also become the City Lord… after all, they could wait to inherit their mom’s Luskan!

Anyway, all of them are cities around Sword Bay.

Nasir entertained himself with a bit of schadenfreude internally… he temporarily abandoned his suspicion regarding Edna’s identity.

Edna’s reaction was normal, two laughs then she stopped herself, most of her attention still on her browband, unsure if she is communicating with Mirimum.

After all, as a direct descendant of Azuth, she still has to maintain some respect towards the Goddess of Magic, but Edna usually doesn’t pay much attention to news related to Mystra.

The usually irritable White Dragon behind him also remained calm… Nasir had been tensed all along… if it turns out Edna really is Mystra, the likeliest one to act would be the White Dragon Queen.

A spout of Dragon Flame, if he dodges too late, he might end up charcoal… though dead he wouldn’t be, the Shadow Cloak couldn’t withstand the Cursing Flame of Primordial Power, but Dragon Flame it could withstand.

He felt his wrist: the icy Cold Night Dagger remained motionless.

It seemed Shaer really only intended for him to ‘mark a station’ following Edna around.

When Nasir discovered Edna’s identity was in question, he was a bit worried: though Shaer preferred to use others to act, if push comes to shove, ordering him to assassinate the mortal form of Mystra would be entirely possible.

Truthfully, he doesn’t care if Edna is Mystra or not, but he must display his suspicion, and as for the judgment… he’ll leave that to Shaer who’s sure to be watching this closely.
