Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1270: Chapter 1061: Lost on the Moonshadow Archipelago

Although their thoughts were completely at odds, the few people in the cabin still presented a harmonious scene… Nasir obviously changed the topic and began explaining to Devis where Ambori’s usefulness lay.

For Safras, who possessed extraordinary calculating abilities, maneuvering Nibro Island to appear outside Deepwater City under the guidance of Ambori, who scarcely weighed half a gram in intelligence, required little effort.

No matter what Nasir truly thought, at least on the surface, he clearly gave up delving into Edna’s identity.

Edna relaxed a little… This time, it was because Nasir spoke too vaguely that Elvia showed no reaction, but with the deep thoughts of this Envoy of the Night, the White Dragon Queen who knew her identity was bound to slip up eventually.

As for why Nasir gave up so readily… she decided to pass over it in confusion.

Could she possibly open her mouth and ask him?

The Sanda King had taught her before about the phrase ‘rarely being confused’ and why to ‘rarely be confused,’ but she never quite understood. At this moment, Edna suddenly grasped the true meaning of these words.

She genuinely didn’t want to understand.

Edna didn’t comprehend Nasir’s mind full of twists and turns, but the cold observer on the Floating Castle whom Nasir wanted to probe did.

It wasn’t just Shaer; even Celene felt something was amiss.

“Shaer, I always feel there’s something odd about Nasir’s actions,” Celene hesitated, “His probing is supposedly subtle, yet… for some reason, it appears obvious to those who know Edna’s identity.”

“If I didn’t know Edna’s identity, and was also filled with animosity towards Mystra, then the suspicions he raised would be enough to alert me and prompt me to have him conduct all sorts of probing on Edna,” Shaer chuckled briskly, “If I knew… upon realizing his suspicions, I might instruct him to do some things.

Very clever approach, he’s not probing Edna, but me.

He can’t directly report his suspicions to me… In the doctrine of the Followers of the Night, I am the controller of all secrets; suspecting there are things I am unaware of might instead easily offend me.

This avoids me punishing him out of anger for discovering I was deceived.

Thus… whatever decision I make, he has completed his mission, showing me his wisdom and loyalty.

Since I have no reaction… Nasir, of course, continues to get along pleasantly with them as always.”

“You can’t blame him for being so cautious,” Lansendel rolled over on the lawn, lazily stretching into a bird pancake under the dawn sunlight, “How many people will believe that you genuinely don’t want to move against Mystra?

Even if Nasir stands there, most would think it’s just to divert others’ attention.

Pulling a ruse under the heavens is something you’re known for, isn’t it?

Click click, this Path of Destiny, I wonder who will be scared to death in the end.”

“Safras?” Celene suddenly laughed, “Is AO planning to kill him to fully restore the Tablets of Fate?

Everything he planned is now seen by the one he intends to manipulate, isn’t it?

Ah, this truly is exceedingly meticulous, all clearly remembered!

Click click, Azuth was nearly terribly unlucky just being abandoned by the Main God; for a Lesser God despised by the Main God… most crucially, the old guy wouldn’t let him go to hell or the abyss, right!”

“Once it’s split, it’s over,” Shaer said with an icy tone, “The scraps he has are probably not even as large as what lies within Manks!”

“Once it’s split, what’s left of him?” Celene said cruelly with a coquettish laugh, “The returning Mystra can no longer use the Weave to bear damage for him.

And without the power of the Tablets of Fate protecting his Mental Sea, what force can further support his divinity?

Faith from Prophecy Mages? What sort of thing is that!

The mortal who seeks to observe destiny finds only madness in the end, isn’t that so?

The Abyss, which only admires power, won’t want him, and Devils… merely desire to collect his soul.”

Hill silently glanced at Celene… So, is a Lesser God destined to be devoured by the Lord of Hell within the Magic God System?

Azuth survived, while Safras came to the brink of annihilation.

No, no, the Tablets of Fate aren’t powerful enough to draw in the Lord of Hell, it can only be said that the Goddess of Magic seemingly requires a Lesser God to lose status and power.

As for Safras’ fate… it depends on Edna.

“By the way, Shaer,” Lansendel didn’t care about Celene’s words; he’s never shied away from the Tablets of Fate like other Toril deities… after all, many times, it’s always that darn slate either chasing him or dodging around him.

And deities like Safras never had value in the eyes of the Lord of Dawn anyway.

He merely chuckled and reminded: “If your Dark Night Apostle truly guessed it… it would affect the plan of someone who would spare no cost to maintain this secret, wouldn’t it?”

Shaer waved her hand indifferently: “Do you think someone who can become a high-ranking Night Cloak in the Sect of the Dark Embrace would be that foolish?

The old man was never worried he would mess things up.

I showed no reaction; therefore, he wouldn’t continue to guess: Just doing their own tasks without meddling in others’ affairs is the most crucial prophecy they learn when becoming Envoys of the Night.

Nasir would absolutely never knowingly cause trouble knowing I’m watching.”

“Hmm?” Celene turned and looked at another giant screen, “They’ve arrived at the Moonshadow Archipelago?”

The Moonshadow Archipelago in April is a time of rain and snow intermixing, surrounded by freezing fog brought on by ice rain, giving the islands a bleak, chilly feeling.

The few black-haired girls standing on the magic ship’s deck, wearing thin gauze robes, made onlookers feel a bit cold; the remaining four or five followers behind them, however, were dressed in thick fur clothing.

Perhaps due to the fragments of Mystra they carried that coincidentally belonged to the Law of Ice and Snow, they seemed completely unaffected by the cold.

They even delightedly reached out to catch the ice rain in the air, their gestures more graceful.

Those girls from the Undead Tribe, always eager to compete for beauty, had no intention of standing beside them, instead whispering in discussion at the rear deck.

Apparently, because these Quel Senta female Mages initially tried to undercut Edna, the Undead Tribe, even though they accepted the protection task, had no intention of showing them a friendly face.

The black-haired girls apparently were not satisfied with the Undead Tribe either, so along the way, they showcased their excellence, trying to attract some strong individuals from the Moonshadow Archipelago to follow them.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t be standing at the bow for exposure… This is a common recruitment tactic of the Toril Nobles, no need for words, those who see naturally understand.

Those who don’t understand… aren’t their target recruits anyway.

On the Moonshadow Archipelago, there truly are many strong individuals… Especially when passing through Carl Kalidili, the largest city of the archipelago, they even removed their veils, the jewelry all over their bodies gleaming brightly.

In this city, there are many Northlanders and Half-giant powerhouses… the kind that would work for money.

“Northlanders are one thing, though they love combat, they have some credibility.

But the golden armlets they wear… is this to seek Half-giants?

The Undead Tribe… aren’t they far more trustworthy than Half-giants?” Celene asked in puzzlement, “Those Half-giants often deliver employers directly to Frost Giant tribes, right? Even the crude Giants could be possible!”

“Just because the Undead Tribe is there, they dare to hire Half-giants!” Shaer sneered once, “They trust the professional ethics of the Undead Tribe but dislike their cold demeanor.

Moreover, they’re different from Devis, the family can’t offer any more support… the Undead Tribe just accepted a temporary task to protect them on the Moonshadow Archipelago, they won’t always follow them.

As for later… what if they have conflicts with Edna? They surely understand, the Undead Tribe wouldn’t choose to help them.

So they’re intending to take advantage of this period to cultivate a batch of trustworthy, more capable followers for themselves.

Girls taught by the Fiery Hair wouldn’t be as foolish as you!”

Celene mumbled a couple of sentences, but she still trusted Shaer’s analytical judgment, so she soon vanished into silence.

On another giant screen, the ‘Old Age Striking King’ suddenly shouted: “Devis, why are those women posing on the ship’s bow?”

Nasir, who was discussing with Devis about how many hassles Safras had planned on the Path of Destiny, looked up in surprise, then quickly educated the Striking King about these common practices of Toril Nobles.

While typing, the ‘Old Age Striking King’ muttered: “Are they stupid? The Moonshadow Archipelago is so close to us! Back when clearing pirates, hadn’t we fought with the Frost Giants!”

And on the Moonshadow Island, ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ also raised his head in surprise, glancing at those girls whose hands were almost raised above their heads… the broad golden bracelets almost covering their entire elbows and forearms.

He hesitated for a while, but still stood up: Their ship had traveled from north to south, almost bypassing all the slightly larger cities of the Moonshadow Archipelago.

While Snowfall Island is at the southernmost point, it’s good to head straight down along the current.

Other ships need to follow the waterway set by the Moonshadow Archipelago to avoid those islanders who enjoy engaged in unconventional businesses, but they, the Undead Tribe, don’t need that!

He slowly walked to the ship’s bow, politely opened his mouth: “Mages, there’s no one on Moonshadow Archipelago who dares to board our Undead Tribe’s ship, including those so-called strong individuals.

This place has been raided by the Undead Tribe three times, and usually, people would bring their ships here for bounty tasks.

Although our target combat is only pirates or part-time pirates, most people, especially those inclined to the Evil Faction like Half-giants, would choose to hide at home rather than go out when they see our ship.

It’s safe as long as they don’t go out to sea, after all, we never violate sovereign nations.”
