Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1275: Chapter 1066: The First Follower of the Black-Haired Young Ladies

Taking Ellie’s short sword, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ examined it closely: This is the Hornblade of Yudala, a short sword that emits a silver glow, with a strange symbol engraved on its handle, likely an ancient script of the Halflings, which isn’t much used anymore.

Judging by this priestess’s status, it’s probably a reward granted to her by Yudala.

Ellie whispered, ”I’ve placed what I needed to say into the Hornblade.”

Then she rummaged through a small pouch at her waist and took out a ball of soft glowing spirit energy... As the spirit energy touched the ground, it immediately transformed into six animal horns of different shapes.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ paused for a moment before saying, ”You can wait until the task is completed to give us this, no need to pay in advance.”

Ellie shook her head, ”It’s not an advance payment; it’s just the portion of our side’s reward. The remaining four horns will be provided by the Grand Temple of the Rustin community.

By rights, they should take more, but who let them get robbed?

If someone has the ability to steal such a massive divine artifact, they’re not going to leave other good treasures behind either.

This time... the thief is truly unmatched in greed! When I got the news, I almost thought I was having a nightmare!

Then I realized, even Halflings wouldn’t have a nightmare this bizarre!

Alas!

We Halflings, to protect ourselves, never place gold and silver jewelry and the like in our warehouses, even gold coins are rare... but there’s always some storable food!

But... the Temple’s warehouse in Rustin, it’s said there’s not even a grain of rice left now.

A Halfling community that focuses on agriculture actually has to go seek food from Humans one day! It’s a farce.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ furrowed his brow, ”Is it a Thieves’ Guild?”

Ellie shook her head, ”Rustin’s side says it’s not just Vampires and Beastified people, there were some weird-looking Fairies too.

And among the Beastified people, there’s a female who can shapeshift into a Halfling, she’s a fox.

Reportedly quite beautiful, with many suitors in Rustin.

Otherwise, Rustin community wouldn’t have suffered so badly.”

She covered her forehead with one hand and said in a melancholy tone, ”I didn’t speak earlier not because there was any secret.

But because... it’s too embarrassing.

However, we Halflings, it’s the first time we’ve encountered a honey trap!

Getting tricked was actually normal.

When Yudala’s wisdom light isn’t lit, even priests can... make mistakes, right?”

Ellie said calmly, ”You can’t just shout and kill them over this small matter, can you? They just made a mistake, they didn’t really betray their kind.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ twitched his mouth, then suddenly turned to look at ’Mobi Chenxin’, and turned back with a cheerful smile, ”When the sun isn’t there, people are easily stirred by the darkness to reveal a bit of shadow in their hearts.

Occasionally, it can’t be helped.

We’re the same, in a city painstakingly established in the Underdark, a carefully constructed and maintained great castle, destroyed along with our Main God’s temple.

It’s the biggest defeat we’ve faced after the Undead Tribe reached Toril!

What can be done about it?

Look, he was the manager of that city. As the main person responsible, didn’t he also receive forgiveness?

Though there was some punishment, demoted from Municipal Officer to an ordinary worker, but at least he still has the chance to start over.”

Ellie raised her head in surprise to look at ’Mobi Chenxin’, and said sympathetically, ”Sigh! So Elves are the same too!

Indeed, who doesn’t have a few bothersome colleagues?”

’Mobi Chenxin’ stared steadily at ’Snow Cloud Peak’s’ back, his eyes mixed with confusion and a bit of sharpness... probably cursing Old Dog in his mind.

Anyway, as he’s not cursing out loud, Snow Old Dog, who doesn’t care about such a thing, said sincerely to Ellie, ”It’s a pity, I really wanted to see your community!

It’s said that the Halfling community’s architecture is very interesting, and besides Halflings themselves, everyone else gets lost.”

Ellie laughed, ”Ah, no choice, although we’re weak! We can only build our dwelling complexly.

I do welcome your visit, but unfortunately, it can’t be done.

Our community is located inside Alaron Island, not suitable for your visit.

Queen Alicia of the Moonshadow Archipelago is actually quite wary of you.”

Although Agleya City-State looks quite harmless, if it really angers the lord of Luskan, hasn’t it already changed hands?

Especially with many fishermen and boatmen from the Moonshadow Archipelago, including the navy, handing their faith over to the Goddess Agleya. If war is declared in her name against the Moonshadow Archipelago... the infighting here might erupt before any real battle begins.

Even though the Kendrick Royal Family and the great nobles don’t want to provoke you, who among the Northerners and Half-giants on the Moonshadow Archipelago doesn’t have a pirate relative...? Even if they didn’t perish at your hands, by now, they’ve likely fled to the Great Sea to compete with the Wo Empire for territory.

If they truly see you on the island, who can predict if they would restrain themselves from taking action.

After all, these are famously impulsive and hot-tempered races.

We Halflings have always lived with utmost caution and wouldn’t dare be the fuse.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ tilted its head, pondering for a moment before fully understanding the Halfling’s words... Would Northerners and Half-giants on the Moonshadow Archipelago dare to clash with the Undead Tribe? Hardly!

Even if a little loli were jumping around there, surrounded by nearly three-meter-tall Half-giants, they wouldn’t act.

After three sweeps... the Undead Tribe has pretty much exhausted all their damaging tricks.

The easily excitable occasional pirates would rather stay home idle than whistle at a solo, golden-and-silver-adorned, money-flavored pretty female Elf.

The Levell Elves of the Moonshadow Archipelago used to stay hidden on their little island, seldom coming out. Now they dare to stroll around the Northern Island where the Frost Giants reside!

The Frost Giants’ first reaction upon seeing Elves is definitely not to seize a loot, but... damn it, those damned Elves are here again.

However, if the Undead Tribe has any little schemes up their sleeves, once on the island... who strikes first is a negotiable matter.

After all, doesn’t everyone have some means of control, right?

Ellie, having witnessed the sheer insanity and slyness among the Undead Tribe during that time, wouldn’t dare speak out about it... After all, us Halflings benefited from the protection of that Queen, otherwise, we couldn’t have built our community in the central region of Alaron Island.

Yet, she felt awkward saying it, as if doubting the character of the Undead Tribe! Elves have always been a people who value their honor greatly.

So, Ellie could only hint in such a roundabout way.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ pouted, realizing the only meaningful point in those words is that Queen Alicia indeed has precautions against Agleya.

But it’s understandable: neighboring countries never like it when a powerful, intimidating neighbor suddenly appears, even the weakest nation would not be happy.

However, guarding against the Undead Tribe is unnecessary... they only like fresh and fun places, and the Moonshadow Archipelago has been swept clean several times. As long as nobody offends them, who would bother them?

And nobody is paying them either.

Hill propped his chin with his left hand, leaning at the table with a pensive expression:

Although there’s just a precautionary stance currently, Agleya must be wary of Queen Alicia ever thinking, ’To prevent any mishaps, I’ll make the first move.’

When he’s around, no one dares act, but Hill can’t stay forever in this crazy place called Toril.

He’s sustained so far solely by the anticipation of watching a big drama unfold... On the day Edna ascends to the Divine Throne, the various reactions of the Toril Gods will surely be fascinating.

Feeling a bit bored, Hill called List over: ”Remind Lin about it, Queen Amelia of the Moonshadow Archipelago might harbor hostility towards Agleya. When dealing with matters related to them, be cautious and deliberate.”

The giant screen’s ’Snow Cloud Peak’ suddenly spoke: ”Ellie’s Horn Guard must be quite knowledgeable about the heroes of the Moonshadow Archipelago, right? Do you know anything about those wanting to board the ship... Especially the leader, they must be nobility, right?”

Standing on a small boat parallel to the slowly sailing magic ship, chatting enthusiastically with the black-haired female mages, was a slender, medium-height man: he had green eyes, a long hooked nose, black hair, a neatly trimmed mustache, and wore the most fashionable noble apparel from Deepwater City.

The Halfling glanced back, saying ”Huh?”, standing up with a slight tiptoe: ”Why is he here? However, he can’t be considered nobility, merely someone who aspires to the court.

His name is Xieke Alehanbuleizuo, an Alchemist.

Hmm... Once served Queen Amelia, having invented some oils that enhanced the impact of weapons.

But due to his fondness for creating unstable potions which led to dozens of laboratory explosions, and being caught secretly purchasing unicorn hooves and horns... The Queen and the Royal Family are devout followers of Mother Earth!

So, he was banished.”

”Killing unicorns? But he isn’t from the Evil Faction.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ asked, puzzled.

The Undead Tribe’s magic ship has always disallowed the Evil Faction to approach... This is also why he doesn’t mind those Quel Senta female mages recruiting people.

”He... was just a buyer, and he merely hinted, never publicly stating anything.” Ellie smiled, ”Even if dozens of unicorns died as a result, what can be done?

Most who dare harm unicorns are followers of Marla. The Moonshadow Archipelago never lacks such cold-blooded Fallen Ones.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ squinted at that side: ”He’s a cunning opportunist, huh! No wonder he sought after those naïve female mages.

Could he possibly be mimicking Kelben’s old path? Otherwise, wouldn’t any sensible person choose Manks?”

’Mobi Chenxin’ said eerily behind him: ”Does Manks even need an assistant? Who knows which bigwig those guards behind her are?”
