Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1262: Chapter 1053: Candlekeep’s Finale

This is a tightly sealed underground hall. The large hole in the corner, still emitting dust, is proof of the Undead Tribe’s violent, uninvited entry.

Standing with the Undead Tribe, looking down at the obsidian coffin in the center of the hall, inlaid with countless jewels and engraved with a complex magic array, Mirimum’s transparent dragon face showed a serious expression mixed with hatred.

”Mirimum.” Snow Cloud Peak asked cheerfully from the side, ”Do you still want to reminisce about your life? Or perhaps miss that Archmage Tors who died in such a creative way?

But the top has already started to collapse! I’m afraid there’s no time left, should we get started?”

The Specter Dragon stiffened, his tone was indescribably stiff: ”Don’t talk nonsense! I... just... take a look, you all, start quickly!”

The Specter Dragon helplessly moved away from the coffin: being sentimental with the Undead Tribe is the most useless emotion, always replaced by a smile that can’t be helped.

While she was in a daze, the Undead Tribe had long been prepared. Mirimum turned around and looked around the hall, hesitantly asking: ”Is there anything you need me to do?”

”Have you packed up your stuff?” The Old Age Striking King asked seriously, ”I doubt there will be any chance to come back here for excavation.”

Mirimum shook her head, ”I have a small Dimensional Space; although when I was at Candlekeep, I could only throw things in and not take them out.

But for me, this is perfect... I wouldn’t let those guys at Candlekeep use anything of mine!”

”A dragon’s treasure trove... I understand.” The Old Age Striking King said with emotion, ”Isn’t that always a place where things go in but never come out?”

The Specter Dragon, already knowing she had a White Dragon companion, reminded casually: ”White Dragons might be like that, but Silver Dragons are not.

We quite like taking things out to trade with friends, unlike White Dragons who only like doing business without capital.”

The Old Age Striking King spread his hands: ”Agleya also has Golden Dragons and Mercury Dragons, I don’t see the difference.”

”Our attributes are very different!” Mirimum emphasized seriously.

”Stop talking about useless things!” Snow Cloud Peak shouted, ”Isn’t it just reluctant to part with a Gold Coin, and looks down on someone stingy with a copper coin?

Quickly ask where Edna and the others are? Is the cliff side safe?

Don’t let it be our own people who suffer!”

”Hard Wind said that Nasir detected the landing place on the cliff, unless we can completely blow this place up, it shouldn’t affect over there!

Even if there are some falling rocks, it’s fine, after all, Elvia is also over there.” The Old Age Striking King shouted in response.

Mirimum unhappily walked to the side and lay down, muttering, ”There’s a big difference between a Gold Coin and a copper coin!”

”The people above said, at most another 5 minutes, and the collapsed area will reach underground.” an Undead Tribe member shouted.

”Have those black-haired girls run off?” Snow Cloud Peak asked, frowning, ”They were the last batch from Candlekeep, right?”

”Uh...” an Undead Tribe member said awkwardly, ”They ran from the front and stopped on the way... that area should also be within Candlekeep’s magic array influence, right?”

”Doesn’t matter.” Snow Cloud Peak said, looking down, ”It’s definitely starting from the inside first, they can see it, at worst, they’ll jump into the sea!”

”Jason and that Cyric follower weren’t seen.” another Undead Tribe member said.

”Even less need to care then.” Snow Cloud Peak said with a laugh, ”They’re fast runners, they won’t wander into a dead end themselves.

Especially Jason, maybe he can even get himself a new face!”

”Are you talking about that swordsman with the Horned Crown? If he dies, he probably won’t be able to resurrect.” Mirimum lazily interjected, ”He has the Grim Reaper’s mark on him.

I doubt he can resurrect like a normal necromancer in one of his soul’s resting places.

No idea how he offended Kranvo... that mark is usually for those the Grim Reaper deems extremely guilty, allowing the Master of Death to arrive the moment his soul leaves the body.

Although we can’t see it, maybe Kranvo is waiting with a sickle for his death!”

Snow Cloud Peak chuckled, then happily said, ”Using someone else’s face to deceive their girls, surely brings retribution!”

Mirimum was startled: ”Face? Kranvo?”

”Ah ah ah!” The Old Age Striking King shouted frantically, ”What are you chatting about! Hurry up! It’s about to collapse here!”

The Undead Tribe members looked up at the ceiling that had already begun to shake and crack, standing cheerfully in position, each holding a bizarre machine connected to long wires.

Snow Cloud Peak turned his head and said, ”Mirimum, you’re definitely going to die again.

Let me say goodbye first... hmm... hope to see you again soon.

Then come over and hold onto this coffin!”

Mirimum swiftly did as instructed.

Snow Cloud Peak took out the shiny mithril sphere and placed it against the obsidian coffin, then held a tablet with one hand and the mithril sphere with the other, starting a countdown.

”Okay, outer circle clockwise ready! 3, 2, 1, 0 go!”

’Boom!’ As the crack above exploded open, the top of the coffin burst into a ball of flame... intertwined with a silver light.

”Good! 1 point!”

With his shout, the outermost edge of the hall began to shatter bit by bit... The Undead Tribe standing in the inner circle remained immovable, even though the exploding flames were only half a meter away from them.

But at this half-meter distance, not a single burst of flame harmed the inner circle... Archmage Tors really had a knack for trapping the Ancient Silver Dragon like this.

”Start preparing the counterclockwise rotation of the inner circle, starting from 11 o’clock! Elder, it’s all up to you!” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ chanted over his tablet, ”3, 2, 1, blast!”

This time, the flame explosion was only one meter away from the coffin.

’Snow Cloud Peak’s’ face flickered in the raging flames on the left side. With his every command, the flames grew larger and almost ignited his white robe.

He looked quickly at ’Cunlü’ standing at the 1 o’clock direction and ’Perfect Bald’ at the 0 o’clock direction on top of the coffin, and shouted quickly: ”The final blast!”

’Cunlü’ and ’Perfect Bald’ pressed the trigger in their hands simultaneously without blinking.

”No!” A roar came from below the hall.

Mirimum jerked his head up, with a claw long prepared slamming fiercely towards the trigger placed in front of the coffin at some unknown time, while his wide-open mouth bit ferociously towards the Mithril Sphere placed on the coffin by ’Snow Cloud Peak’.

His body firmly pressed on that obsidian coffin... The coffin lid just shivered a bit before awaiting its final end.

’Boom! Bang bang!’ The giant screen flashed with ’Snow Cloud Peak’s’ very pleased smiling face, penetrated by a magic arrow through his chest, and then quickly vanished... Even though it was hung far away, the live broadcast device followed suit and exploded.

”So Tors isn’t dead after all!” Lansendel stretched his wings with a lazy yawn, ”Oh, wait, that’s not right. Rather... Tors has really become a Lich!

I told you, Neutral Archmage, it’s not like they lack money, there’s no way they’d so easily face death.

He probably changed himself to a magical body, so he used that aging body to trap the Silver Dragon.

Tsk tsk!

Mages... how many of them are good people?

No wonder, no Archmage is willing to help Mirimum find relief, they probably already guessed it, impossible to offend a Lich for a Silver Dragon.

Tsk tsk, also no wonder why Mirimum cannot even find relief in death!

Can they really play this way? How did they come up with this... what a pitfall!”

Hill asked somewhat confusedly: ”If he’s not truly dead, shouldn’t the soul contract be contacted according to the agreed time?”

”Nope...” Celene said in a strange tone, ”The Undead are actually a different kind of being, no one recognizes them as the original soul.

According to Toril’s saying, they’re another kind of being with past memories and abilities, they don’t even need to handle the debts from their living days!”

Hill tugged at the corner of his mouth, can the saying ’a dead person’s debt is gone’ even be used in this cursed place?

”Have the Undead Tribe all returned to Agleya?” Lansendel asked curiously, ”Can you ask them how they know so much?

The magic array in Candlekeep, I get dizzy just looking at it, it’s not that easy to solve.

Though they are not afraid of death and dare to go down with someone, to come up with a solution so quickly...”

”Have you forgotten something?” Celene said blandly, ”Although Coron doesn’t like meddling, he certainly would love to help solve troubles for his people.”

Hill laughed... Coron also holds divinity in magic! Moreover, he’s knowledgeable about the manufacturing of magic arrays and strange objects.

The Undead Tribe is accustomed to carrying explosives on them when traveling.

For the Toril people, the scariest thing is probably this kind of magic disengagement method that involves huge sacrifices... but for the Undead Tribe, ironically, it’s the easiest to accomplish.

If it were dealing with others, Coron might avoid suspicion... but the prophecy mages of Candlekeep who’ve profited from the calamity of the Dawn Calamity and excavated countless Elven ancient city relics, they are not in the range of avoiding suspicion.

To Coron, these prophecy mages who live off excavating Elven relics make him disgusted, but not to the extent of killing them off.

So he just ignores them.

But given a chance to disgust them back, he won’t stay idle either.

He glanced at Lansendel, the giant Golden Peacock seemed to have figured out what happened, his claws moved lightly.

Shaer suddenly moved: ”Did the Undead Tribe put in too much explosives?”

And at that moment, the giant screen transmitted screams: ”Snow Old Dog! You bastard! How much explosives did you put in?”

Amidst the continuous explosions, a massive crack suddenly appeared on the mountain peak where Candlekeep was located, and the straight cliff showed signs of breaking, starting to slowly tilt towards the sea.

Elvia’s enormous wings sliced through the giant screen... Edna turned her head to look at the camera on her back, her long brown hair fluttering in the wind, her smile beautiful and radiant.
