Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1260: Chapter 1051: Ullant’s True Master

Ullant’s raised hand did indeed touch something… but it was the Cold Sphere thrown directly by Rouge Mark.

Before he figured out what froze his hand, the world around him instantly changed dramatically… Someone had successively used Ice Wall and Freezing Fog to create a cold environment.

The Ice Storm howled even more fiercely inside the Sunshine Hall… it was clear that more than one person cast it.

At this time, Ullant had just recovered his senses and began to apply a spell-nullifying barrier on himself… Unfortunately, this sixth circle barrier could only nullify spells below the fourth level… so he was quickly knocked over by the Ice Cone Technique.

Then, he rolled on the ground a few times, and the robe on his body flashed with brilliance… that was the Anti-Magic Field that he finally remembered to use.

After that, even when Ullant stood up, he only cast defensive spells on himself… He didn’t even intend to counterattack, just struggled to run towards the corner.

Presumably, that was where the mechanism controlling the Candlekeep Magic Array was located.

He behaved so conspicuously that those lower-level girls were all using Ice Storms… not to harm Ullant, but to create a spellcasting environment for the other two noticeably higher-level female mages.

Othelluck’s Icy Orb whistled as it smashed towards Ullant… The colorful glow around him proved how affluent this Candlekeep steward was.

Of course, it also proved his incompetence… a sixth circle spell could make him flustered, not knowing what to do.

The final victory was decided by the seventh circle’s Ice Claw Prison and Deep Freeze… discovering that the protection on Ullant was too strong, these black-haired girls chose to lock down the attack, freezing that guy in the middle of the Sunshine Hall.

Then they slammed the door and left, laughing smugly… Even though Ullant didn’t have time to activate the magic array, as the current chief mage, when attacked, Candlekeep’s defense system would still respond.

Just not that quickly… Furthermore, the Sunshine Hall was added later by Ullant, although he requested the expansion of the magic array’s defense range, but… how should I put it, basically, the array that was supposed to activate in a few minutes ended up like this, considering it a blessing if it could activate in ten minutes.

Even though they spared that guy’s life, the Quel Senta ladies didn’t think they’d have any trouble… after all, it was Ullant who made the first move.

He, as a follower of Mystra, dared to lay hands on Mystra’s candidates… At least for now, they could be considered candidates… Wasn’t it fortunate enough not to be killed?

In the Sunshine Hall, only they were present, Ullant might ignore his dignity a bit, but in the Great Library, would he dare to lay hands on them in front of so many people?

The black-haired girls walked downstairs full of pride… As the Quel Senta ladies who grew up listening to various mages’ stories, of course, they also wanted to see Candlekeep’s collections.

After all, just now Ullant, to express his welcome to them, had already given them the highest-level reading badge.

Otherwise, they supposed they could have turned against him a bit later… It really tested their patience!

Hill watched in silence at this battle that ended in less than ten minutes.

The battle power of Prophecy Mages… is a bit weak!

Prophecy Spells indeed have no attack power, but wouldn’t normal mages learn more than just defensive spells?

Hill didn’t have a deep impression of Ullant, but at least knew his status among Prophecy Mages was not low… Could it be that these Prophecy Mages abandoned attack spells for the sake of the accuracy of their prophecies?

No wonder Safras didn’t even have the courage to battle with Azuth.

He leaned against the table, propping his chin with his left hand and smiled… in such a short time, Hill felt he had seen an entire compendium of Ice Series Magic — although only from the fourth to the seventh circle.

Excluding special cases like Edna, these girls weren’t bad… after all, they previously weren’t allowed to devote too much energy to spell learning.

But it was evident they were somewhat skewed, even using Ice Series for countering.

Although it works, the mana cost of Ice Cone Technique is indeed much higher.

Hill curiously asked: “Could it be… this was cut from a Soul Shard?

Pretty even…”

From the massive amount of ice skills that require almost no spellcasting gestures or preparation, it was clear that this must be due to the power of Mistra’s Soul Shard.

They must practice often, but magic isn’t something that can be mastered just by diligence… To put it, they’re actually more like magicians: Spells can be used off-hand, but they’re not so well-versed in the laws behind them.

They use them quite flexibly, but Hill could see they somewhat struggled to control the power of their spells.

“That’s obvious!” Celene said in a cheery tone, “After all, Midnight’s main divine soul, though broken quite badly, mostly resides in Edna!

It was just that a few shards scattered upon falling.

When Mystra collapsed along with the Weave and Toril, wasn’t it an instantaneous event?

AO surely was busy stuffing her into Edna, while still guarding against any ambush during the world’s reformation, didn’t you see he didn’t bother with the chaotic Weave!

That old man at most had time to leave only one or two shards.

Besides, he intended to add some fun to the Path of Destiny, not really a Mystra election race… Truly holding a ten-to-five, five-to-two, and then a two-to-one competition, how ridiculous would that be?

By then, what mortal would still revere the existence of deities?”

Even devils wouldn’t dare to play like this.

With Edna around, the old man definitely wouldn’t just use a whole piece at once; it’s more normal to cut it up a bit.

If it weren’t for that Manks appearing… AO, even if he doesn’t know what she’s up to, certainly can’t let her mess around freely in Toril.

He probably would just keep those shards on hand for backup… just in case Edna is taken out, then at least he’d be somewhat prepared!

The old man never allows himself to be cornered.

The Great Peacock lying on the lawn made some strange noises… probably trying to mock, but having just been dealt with, he still remembered and hid his head under the bushes, muttering to himself under his wings.

“Hmm?” Hill suddenly looked up, “What is Ullant doing?”

“Fuming with rage… teaching a lesson to those who dared… offend his… in his mind… future Mystra…” Celene’s tone was a bit hesitant, “Has he completely lost his mind?”

“Probably because the first Mystra he met was in mortal form… Saints and mortals are not much different, and Black Eye died disgracefully.” Shaer said flatly, “The second Mystra was obviously a fool who didn’t care about anything; he probably thought Safras was scarier than Midnight in his heart.

So when facing Mystra, he has no fear of the deities.

As Celene said, anyone with a bit of sanity wouldn’t believe AO would really create a competition for the position of Goddess of Magic among a group of people.

Ullant not only believed but also dared to choose for himself.

Didn’t you think of this from the start?

People who revere deities wouldn’t gamble on the Path of Destiny.

Like Elaströ and the others, even if they didn’t know what was going on, acted reasonably by completing their mission as quickly as possible and then hurrying to find a place to hide.”

The Quel Senta ladies were already in a panic.

They watched as the castle suddenly turned into a labyrinth filled with traps from the corridor passages, not knowing where to go.

“Freeze! Freeze everything around us! He wouldn’t dare kill us!” Rouge Mark shouted, biting her lip.

“Hahahahaha~” Ullant’s voice resounded through the castle, “Dared to mock me! I will make you understand, I, Ullant… Who?

What do you want to do?

Impossible! Who are you!

No! Milko! Get out of here!”

He screamed to the heavens, and the castle housing the Great Library began to tremble along with it.

The Quel Senta ladies exchanged looks, watching as the stones stopped rolling, and Manks, who had been following them, rushed ahead: “Didn’t you see the castle shaking? Hurry up and run! Damned Ullant! He actually banned flying!”

The suddenly enlightened ladies hastily lifted their skirts and started frantically running down the passageway.

The giant screen quickly cut back to the Sunshine Hall… thanks to that Undead Tribe reporter risking the danger of the castle collapsing to see clearly what was happening there.

Hill couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of his mouth… Jason was so straightforward! He actually put that Silver Ring right on Ullant’s head.

The Supernormal Level Necromancy being able to hide its existence is indeed easy… although the Prophecy Mage lacks in combat power, he always had a knack for dealing with invisible enemies.

Though the attack was opportunistic, Jason’s style indeed fit the characteristics of the Grim Reaper’s faction… especially fierce in taking action.

And at this moment, Mr. Jason was watching with curiosity, looking at Ullant rolling on the ground, struggling not to be controlled by Milko’s bit of divinity, seemingly wanting to figure out who this Prophecy Mage truly believed in.

Anyway, it couldn’t possibly be Mystra.

After observing for a while, Hill couldn’t help but tilt his head… but it also didn’t seem like Safras… if it were the God of Prophecy, it couldn’t possibly sustain for this long.

Though Milko had died to the extent of only bits remaining, the remnants of strong divine power breaking through ordinary defenses of Lower Rank Divine Power were quite simple.

Unless Ullant was a Chosen of Safras… tsk tsk, how could that be?

Such a dumb… ah!

Hill withdrew his smile, looking at the blurred and shadowy humanoid silhouette with long claws enveloping Ullant, silently turning to look at Shaer.

No wonder the Lady of the Night had been relatively silent from the start… and even slightly explained for Ullant.

“Aishdo?” Celene couldn’t help but call out as well, “Shaer! When did you make a move on Candlekeep?”

“He came to me by himself.” Shaer said somewhat helplessly, “Not knowing what he did, he was afraid of being discovered by Mystra, so he wholeheartedly ventured into the Underdark.

This is someone who could directly connect with Mystra! How could I possibly give up!”
