Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1280: Chapter 1071: Shaer Casts a Wider Net

Although the Magic Cult’s large ship made a circle that everyone was satisfied with… the Double-headed Giant Druid fulfilled his duty to protect nature, while the Undead Tribe hoped to arrive when the sunlight was the most dazzling.

This time, however, standing at the ship’s bow were ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ and the Undead Tribe. Those ambitiously optimistic Quel Senta Female Mages, although they also tacitly abandoned their captured companion, still appeared very sorrowful, constantly wiping their tears in the cabin.

Their newly appointed followers naturally could only remain in the cabin, comforting these panicked little poor souls, having no way to be the first to rush to battle on the island.

The Undead Tribe didn’t bother to fuss about such trivial matters… after all, with the Halfling’s commission, they certainly didn’t want those Toril people to go in first.

That group might not have big courage, but they’re definitely sharp-eyed.

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ contentedly felt the temperature of the sunlight, smilingly placing his left hand on his forehead, gazing at the gloomy yet majestic castle atop the cliff.

Even though there is a ceaseless dark canopy over the Vampire Castle, but… no matter the magic, as long as it’s manmade, there’s always a way to break it.

The Sun, at least Toril’s Sun here, has also suffered quite a bit, swallowed by the world-ending beasts not once or twice… but the vampires on Snowfall Island probably haven’t mastered that skill yet.

This inexplicable chaos on the ship instead proved the vampires’ bravado masking their inner cowardice.

Anyone with a bit of brains knows: true strength hardly resorts to deceitful schemes, it simply crushes directly.

Thrilling strategies only exist between evenly matched opponents or when defeating the stronger with lesser strength.

So even though the Undead Tribe and the Female Mages lost a bit of face… despite the incident being caused by the Female Mage’s own mischief, the Undead Tribe responsible for their protection indeed failed their duty.

Nonetheless, the Undead Tribe had been prepared for trouble from the start, dismissing any issues with the employer’s own silliness causing casualties… everyone knows this bunch of women spells trouble, so a powerful faction like the Undead Tribe naturally wouldn’t heed them in normal circumstances.

Anyway, the black-haired Female Mages aren’t aware of Celene’s commission, and someone like ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ with such cunning would surely negotiate the most relaxed contract for himself.

As for the face issue, of course, the Undead Tribe wouldn’t care at all: for them, the NPCs encountered in Toril might have some brains, but at least one can find a line of logic, either crazy or foolish.

Even causing trouble in such a scalp-numbing, speechless way… but as long as you look at Fiery Hair’s teachings, you’d know that indeed, he just faithfully follows his own goddess’s teachings.

Perhaps compared to those remaining here, Shuni would rather prefer the one captured!

What a great disciple! Remembering to enjoy romance and passion even now.

Tsk, tsk, they’ve met brave warriors who, though perfectly protected amidst encircling armies, suddenly leap into the enemy’s blade to die!

What is face? Hasn’t it already been reduced to dumbfoundedness?

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ stared at the clouds above the castle for a while, then turned back with a shout: “First aim at those clouds, fire a volley, doesn’t matter if it misses.”

Their magic ship has a long range, even with the cliff and castle combined being over eight hundred meters high, hitting that cloud layer which peaks at 1000 meters is fairly easy.

‘Snow Cloud Peak’ furrowed his brow calculating the castle’s defensive level: currently, these magic cannons have attack power almost like the Eighth Ring Mage’s Explosive Fireball, only faster.

Under the dark canopy, the Vampire Castle’s defenses are indeed greatly strengthened, while their attack power is still somewhat weak. Only until the third round does a translucent wave appear on the castle’s outer side.

But for the Undead Tribe, it shouldn’t be impossible to break the defense… moreover, they haven’t even used Light Spells yet.

He crossed his arms and pondered intently, theoretically, he could just call people to rush in… how many people are on board this magic ship, probably the cliff vampires couldn’t even dream of.

But ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ still planned to play it safe; turning his head to shout: “Ink Brush, bring out the oil painting! First, break the clouds and then talk.”

‘Mobi Chenxin’ quickly emerged with a massive oil painting… soon, a thick and long golden beam shot into the sky.

“Eh?” ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ was surprised: this is the first time using a Demi-God Tier painting against non-deity level enemies, it had no effect!

He furrowed his brows: “Ah, damn, Sanda King isn’t here, otherwise we could try the Jade Holy Scripture.

Looks like it’ll take lives to pile up. Black Rose and our family go first, other families provide support; after we’re exterminated, it should trigger a rescue quest, then bring you in.

Hopefully, a regional mission comes up, making things convenient… plus, no need to share with others.”

Then he used a faux realization tone everyone could discern: “Ah~ such strong power must come from a High-grade Artifact right?

But a Halfling’s artifact is merely logistic war gear, not up to this level!

Hmm… hey~

Sanda King, will she steal my turf in the future?

Frankly, I’m only thorough in my precautions, she’s definitely rambling truth, right?”

‘Ink Brush Mortalworld’ who was empowering the Dare to Die Squad ready on the deck with the oil painting’s strength, heard this and said in astonishment: “You think I’ll echo your words? Do you think I have multiple guts?”

“At times like this… I really miss Young Master!” ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ noticeably tilted his lips.

“That’s right, Young Master fears not getting beaten.” ‘Ink Brush Mortalworld’ sneered, “In reality, no one dares to hit him, so he indulges here.”

“Don’t say it so sleazily, so…” ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ indifferently said, “What’s causing this?”

“What sleazy? Old Dog, you… what stuff do you usually look at, to think so crookedly?” ‘Ink Brush Mortalworld’ said in shock.

“Ah! Don’t talk about that useless stuff, quickly check what High-grade Artifacts exist in Toril! Especially those not seen for many years!

Susu, go talk to those women, what era does the treasure they’re seeking belong to? By the way, before becoming a vampire, which place did the Duchess hail from? Anmur’s?”

Celene on the Floating Castle was also pondering: “An unfamiliar artifact! But definitely belonging to the Evil Faction?”

“Such strong protective force, even a Shadow Energy Core can’t achieve.” Shaer stared into the distance, thoughtfully gazing at the white clouds before saying after a moment, “Doesn’t seem like something a single artifact can accomplish!

Could Mystra’s remnants have let the vampires dig out that treasure first?

Ah well, no one’s foolish.

Snowfall Island is just so big, knowing there’s something here, wouldn’t they hurry to excavate it?

Vampires don’t fear casualties, they have plenty of Blood Slaves to use up!”

“Such level of treasure… without a key, none can enter! Impossible.” Celene shook her head forcefully, “Shaer! Are you deliberately diverting attention?

Do you know what this is? Or does the uncovered treasure have a relation to you?”

“Um…” Shaer glanced up at the sky, “Can’t say it relates to me… but these vampires gaining a foothold on Moonshadow Archipelago, I did lend a small hand.

As for the female faction from Anmur, how could Abert let it slip, so he asked for something from me for them.”

The Goddess of the Night remained calm, raising her left hand to her cheek, making a slight gesture, forming just a narrow gap.

Celene tilted her head, pondering for a moment before asking: “You gave them something related to the Shadow Demon Network, right?”

Hill rolled his eyes a few times before grasping Celene’s meaning: the Shadow Demon Network indeed was absorbed by the Weave to become one, but due to some past legacy issues, the two still have areas prone to conflict, hence creating a scenario, the Dead Magic Zone.

And these unexpected areas, bluntly put, were originally all realms completely controlled by Shaer.

Shaer always acts generously, what she calls minor stuff, at the very least has Subartifact tier.

Very likely, the little trinket in the vampire Duchess’s possession mutated with the occurrence of the Magicplague, from the original devouring force against magic energy.

Thus, regardless of the treasure’s defense strength… the stronger the defensive means, the more dependent it is on magic… for the vampires, as long as they find the place, they can swagger right in.

“Really… you’re everywhere, Shaer.” The Golden Peacock laying on the ground suddenly commented sentimentally, “No wonder Toril, whenever facing catastrophe, as long as one thinks of you, escape is impossible.”

Shaer’s calm tone carried a bit of pride: “Casting wider nets catches more fish, life always rewards you.”

Hill struggled to maintain his composure without bursting into laughter, turning to this clearly deeply influenced by William Goddess of the Night… didn’t they run off to some universe to date with avatars?
