Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 348: Chapter 147: The Easily Shattered Central City

As William announced the beginning of the war, the giant magic cannons on several airships opened fire. After only three volleys, Central City’s protective magic barrier shattered.

Undead Tribe members on the ship leapt down without hesitation.

William sat in the air, frowning as he watched over the entirety of Central City. Only five Human Legends emerged.

The multitude of Undead Mages floating in the air almost instantly bombarded the few who flew out with countless spells.

William didn’t even hear what these legends tried to say before they were scared off by the chaotic barrage of spells.

It seems they all traded with the Dwarves, as their defense gear was very powerful.

Although the Undead threw spells indiscriminately, and the Fire and Water elements cancelled out many spells.

However, the massive meteorites that fell from the sky didn’t cause these few legends serious injury, and they were still able to flee while enduring the spells, proving Central City’s wealth.

With a slight flick of his finger, William placed a tracking mark on one of the legends who was about to be completely engulfed by a sinister black light.

The evil light of a High-level Demon was nothing more than this.

William’s expression was stern, this person must not be let go.

Having stayed long in this Central City, like the other few legends covered in a grey light tinged with black, was actually quite normal.

After all, this city was built upon the oppression of the Human Race. Who knows how many humans have been killed.

The whole city, in William’s eyes, was like a pit of dark mud.

But that’s because there are not many good people in this city, so anyone with a bit of status gradually slides towards the Evil Faction.

This is not an overnight process, and the World Will would not easily judge a person as evil.

Therefore, that legend, whose face was obscured by blackness to the point where William could not see clearly, could probably be described as having filled their measure of evil.

The Undead Tribe quickly noticed the mark William had placed on this person, with most of them charging towards him.

As for the others, William did not have the intention of hunting them to the death.

Whether they could escape was up to their luck.

Even if many of the Undead pursued them, these legends were more familiar with the terrain here and might even escape as a result.

William propped his chin while sitting on his throne.

He could clearly sense the gazes coming from the Forest of the Elves and the Dwarf Kingdom, thousands of miles away.

Lowering his hand, William wore a provocative smile, feeling a stir from the two countries followed by silence, contempt curling at the corner of his mouth.

Hill leaned back in his chair, watching the Undead live broadcast with the same disdain in his heart.

No matter how proud the Elves and Dwarves felt, convinced they would defeat humans.

But such behavior, letting William choose his opponent and rejoicing at being left for last, was truly despicable.

If they had charged and destroyed William’s leading forces first and then settled scores with each other, that would be more respectable.

It’s because the Undead are indeed very difficult to kill, requiring the deities in the starry sky to fight a decisive battle with the God of Time and Space first, before they could be eradicated from this world. And because of that, these two races, proud of their strength, were so timid.

Saying they were worried about another race taking advantage of the situation was just a lie.

With the powerful Gods of Time and Space and Silvermoon watching the situation keenly, it was obvious that the Human deities would also join forces.

If a real battle ensued, it was likely that none of the deities from any race could emerge unscathed.

Elf or Dwarf Deity Systems—no deity wanted to be the one to perish.

So they all waited to see whom the Gods of Time and Space would choose, not wanting to initiate the battle themselves.

It truly made one understand why, despite their strength and numerous deities, they were driven out of their own world.

Deities stripped of their original world’s laws, even if they found a new world to survive in, could not be very strong in their divine power. Yet these Elf and Dwarven deities preferred to abandon the laws that sustained them to escape.

If it wasn’t for good fortune, if they hadn’t encountered a world where an Innate Deity was seriously injured and all were in slumber, they would’ve had to roam the universe, uncertain of their fate.

Without the will to fight to the death, how could they possibly keep their homeland from the hands of powerful enemies?

The Undead below mocked the mages who tossed fire and water together, then searched for where those in command were located.

They soon found a broadcast room dedicated to the Snow Cloud Peak Alliance.

They quickly saw the members of the Snow Cloud Peak Alliance in a corner.

Switching the camera over, they discovered that the alliance had forsaken the legend marked by William, surrounded by millions of frenzied Undead, and instead had chosen to block another Legendary Knight themselves.

Their myriad Mages flying in the sky blocked all escape routes for this legend.

Snow Cloud Peak commanded from the highest point, directing the Mages to release their skills.

Hill watched with amusement as they spun webs of water and ice in the sky, blocking any escape for the legend above.

Below, the Earth Mages transformed the ground into hard stone, and the periphery was thick, high stone walls—down below, there was no exit.

Surrounded by Sky Knights, the Legendary Knight who refused to surrender would be slowly ground down by these Undead, even if there was no powerful Divine Array.

No matter how many treasures he held, they would merely delay his death.

They didn’t release their magical beasts, after all, legendary creatures still possess immense destructive power.

To die was irrelevant, but if the magical beast they had contracted with so much effort were to die, that would truly drive them insane.

Hill had originally thought that the Undead Tribe, upon death, would return to Saral.

But he discovered that they quickly jumped off William’s ship.

He then remembered, at the time when the Undead Tribe had first appeared, they were resurrected near William.

Through the screen, Hill didn’t know why the Snow Cloud Peak Alliance would choose this legendary creature, but he heard from the shouting of the Undead Tribe downstairs that William had marked one as evil enough to be comparable to a demon.

William’s instruction to them was to fight to the death.

The merit points for such a deed were the highest, enough to be shared among millions of people.

That’s why they charged so fiercely.

But the two alliances seemed to each have chosen a legendary creature and were blocking them on one side to kill.

Then quickly, Old Cat displayed a livestream following the End of the World Alliance on the giant screen with a snide laugh.

The fan-shaped giant screen, with the main battlefield in the center, featured the Snow Cloud Peak Alliance and the End of the World Alliance’s respective battlefields on each side.

The Undead Tribe downstairs were betting on which legendary creature would be killed first.

Unfortunately, they all bet on the one in the main battlefield and in the end had to declare the betting void.

However, the other two legendary creatures, although intercepted by the Scattered Ones, managed to escape in their crazed flight.

Hill listened carefully to the words of the Undead Tribe.

Those two seemed to be of a lower evil rating, the kind that William had mentioned beforehand that could be spared.

Indeed, there is strength in numbers.

Even though the two alliances were in tacit agreement, the one that died first was the legendary creature bombarded in turns by millions of the Undead Tribe.

What Hill saw was a bloodied and disintegrated legendary creature, he didn’t want to watch this pile of rotten flesh and turned to look at the Undead Tribe downstairs instead.

But he finally realized that what the Undead Tribe were muttering about wasn’t the actual corpse, but rather, they only saw a strange pattern emitting black smoke.

So their camera was still broadcasting.

Thankfully it was deep into the night, and all the children had been sent back to sleep.

Except for a few female knights, everyone else had left.

Their routine was very regular; once it got dark, it was time to sleep.

Some of the female knights felt unbearable and left directly.

The only one who stayed was apologizing to the Undead Tribe.

The Undead Tribe glanced at each other and began to coax words out of the female knight’s mouth.

Although she was resolute, she had little contact with others, and the female knight quickly spoke of what she had seen.

The young girl of the Undead Tribe’s face turned unsightly for a while, but perhaps because it was only hearsay, nothing could be seen on the screen, so they still endured it.

”No wonder we weren’t allowed to see the real scene,” Yue Xiaoluo muttered. ”If we saw too much of that, we’d either run away or become twisted.”

The main force of the Undead Tribe had already set out for Central City, and since no one had the courage to resist, they entered the city with ease.

Then, the two alliances almost simultaneously killed their respective legendary creatures.

It seemed Snow Cloud Peak was a bit faster, as the screen showed a bunch of triumphant faces.

Even from a distance, it didn’t stop the mages flying in the sky from making provocative gestures.

”I’m really curious whether this new family can be more formidable!” Old Cat suddenly spoke. ”I truly want to see these two families, who are at each other’s throats yet reluctantly have to cooperate!”

”You were saying just a while ago that Snow Cloud Peak was a decent person!” Xiao Chenhuan asked in confusion. ”Did he offend you when he was in the town?”

”Do we discriminate when watching the excitement?” Old Cat was even more surprised. ”Does it matter who provides the entertainment?”

Xiao Chenhuan sighed, ”Could you please not show such schadenfreude in front of their alliance members? You’re almost ready to hold up a sign urging them to hurry up and perform for you!”

”That won’t happen. What if Hill takes away my position as Deputy Mayor for going too far?” Old Cat quickly said. ”I would never give up the chance to gain experience by just lying there!”

”By the way, why did Hill choose Old Cat as Deputy Mayor?” Anli Er asked. ”It’s unbelievable! He’s so lazy!”

”Because he doesn’t go out!” Yue Xiaoluo said wide-eyed. ”He spends the most time in the town, has high friendliness, so Hill chose him. The others, they need to go out to play or do quests. Could you guarantee not to leave the town for more than seven days?”

Anli Er shook her head fiercely, ”Impossible! Just going out for a stroll takes me half a month! With such beautiful scenery here, you can take walks without fighting, right?”

”So aside from him, Hill had no one else to choose.”

”No wonder up to now, there haven’t been many Undead Tribe officials,” sighed Anli Er. ”Those who write books with us still think about finding an excuse to infiltrate the government of Saral! Only there in the Great Nobility does one get firsthand information.”

”They always find a way,” Yue Xiaoluo said. ”Even the princess’s nanny was dug out, what else can anyone hide!”

Hill suddenly looked down sharply.
