Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 345: Chapter 144: The Converging Views on Marriage between the Undead Tribe and Saral Nobles

The air fleet of Saral was composed of six huge ships.

They formed a triangular formation in the sky.

On the leading King’s Ship that Fran had personally built, William, too, was watching the live broadcast of the Undead Tribe and laughing happily.

He sat in a place akin to the King’s Hall, where no oil paintings were hung.

After all, he was surrounded by dozens of Great Nobility who were High-level Professionals.

William had no desire to listen to the monologues of these folks; after all, those from the Great Nobility who remained after his several purges generally wouldn’t pose any problems.

Even those from Obastian were just fools or bad seeds, not traitors to the nation.

”Is it good for the Undead Tribe to expose this matter? What if those spies become vigilant?” asked Spencer, who was sitting to the side.

The new Captain of the Guard, too, looked at his king, eager to nab the culprits now. Those who dared not to enter the hall definitely had something to hide!

”No problem. Those guys, if they think it’s Mental Magic, will die miserably,” laughed William.

”I didn’t expect Your Majesty to tell the Undead Tribe about this matter so soon,” Spencer couldn’t help but say.

He had thought William might enjoy watching the chaos unfold.

William chuckled, ”I would have liked that! But it’s not possible.

The Undead Tribe is very particular about privacy. If they’re kept in the dark and something goes wrong, I too, would be responsible in their world.

The God of Time and Space has always advised me to be meticulous and consider the differences between the two worlds.

But now that I’ve informed them, if someone doesn’t watch out or acts foolishly, it’s none of my concern then!

Hehe~ Truth or Dare, they can still play like this~ The Undead Tribe always has interesting ideas.”

Seeing William’s schadenfreude, Spencer could only shake his head in resignation.

Even knowing the risks, the Undead Tribe, who still chose adventure, would always surprise Spencer anew.

”In the Undead Tribe, would having four lovers at the same time get one beaten up?” asked Duke Saral, who had set off with William, his voice trembling.

William remembered this duke. Although he too wanted his descendants to succeed the throne of King William, his approach was more upright, striving for improvement while also encouraging his children to live life with ambition.

Being a part of the Orderly Neutral Faction, which was rare in the Saral Royal Family, William was willing to give him opportunities and take him along for matters of state.

The Spencer Family was competent in military affairs but could be spared when it came to politics.

As for the Saral Family, they were usually a bit more politically astute than the average person. Whether it was the foolish Edward or the brute Charles, after losing, they surrendered completely without joining any enemy Faction against Saral.

But as a member of the Saral Royal Family, even if the duke tried to align himself with William’s way of doing things, in terms of his lifestyle, he could hardly be seen as abstinent.

At the moment, he was worried that William might have expectations regarding marital fidelity for heirs, something he felt he couldn’t meet, nor did he believe his children could.

The men of the Saral Family had been either ascetics like Charles or libertine playboys for over a thousand years.

But generally, they wouldn’t be as dim-witted as Edward.

Such earnestness in dealings, William truly wasn’t of Saral’s stock.

William looked up, pondered for a moment, and finally summarized his thoughts, ”Whether it’s any world, there will always be those who have lovers everywhere. He got beaten because he deceived those girls. And they’re all Sky Knights, equal in status.”

Several Nobles immediately agreed with the sentiment; they all shared this view.

When statuses matched, either an understanding was set where both spouses were free spirits, except that heirs must come from both lineages, and other children were acknowledged by both parties.

Or if both wanted a serious married life, they would propose fidelity in the marriage beforehand.

Once agreed upon, regardless of Noble rank, they would abide by the contract unless one suddenly fell from grace and their statuses were no longer equal.

They now understood why this guy got beaten up; he wanted a life of pleasure yet dared to date four women who wanted faithful marriages!

Their statuses were equal!

He probably only avoided death because of the Undead attribute, right?

Seeing their faces filled with enlightened agreement, William felt his teeth ache.

He might as well think of it as a case of different paths to the same destination!

He couldn’t say that the Undead were exclusively loyal lovers; after all, among those who had come here, there were many free spirits, without regard to gender.

William shook his head, changing the subject: ”We’re about to enter the territory of the Hundred Cities Alliance soon.”

The shared border region of the Dwarf Kingdom and the Forest of the Elves was vast, nearly equal to half a kingdom.

As a buffer zone, it was inhabited entirely by Humans.

Half-controlled by the Elves and the other half by the Dwarves.

The Elves and Dwarves had their conflicts over tens of thousands of years.

But they only fought here.

And the majority of the dead were Humans.

When the God of Nobility led Humans out of the wilderness to found a nation, the ancestors of these people pledged allegiance to the Elves and Dwarves.

The difficult founding by Dionysio only made these allegiances seem ever more wise.

By the time Dionysio was established, and the human kingdoms began to push northward into the wilderness one by one, these guys also wavered.

They could not become kingdoms and were merely a collection of independent small cities.

Even though they survived with the help of dwarves and elves, their strength was still too weak; they lived not nearly as well as the nobles in the human kingdoms.

At this time, the dwarves and elves had already felt the buffer zone needed these humans.

They adopted the simplest method, letting these cities cooperate with a certain group of elves or dwarves.

They would sell things to the human world.

The human kingdoms were still very much in need of the medicinal herbs and fruits from the Forest of the Elves and the weapons and armor from the Dwarf Kingdom.

So they were quickly appeased.

After all, only the slaves were miserable.

What did it have to do with the nobles of these cities? When elves and dwarves chose people to go to war, they would not choose them!

So, these cities bought slaves from the human kingdoms all year round.

Until Saral rose to power, and William needed a population.

His alchemy products were cheap and guaranteed payment upon delivery.

Slaves, as consumable goods for many of the great nobility, were all sold to Saral.

If there was a place where humans completely disregarded the existence of the God of Time and Space, or even hated William and constantly cursed him, it was only this place known as the Hundred Cities Alliance.

Spencer’s mouth twitched with a cold, hard line, ”The spies sent by other countries or temples are just to gather information. Those saboteurs who wanted to destroy the ship, they’re all from here, aren’t they?”

William smiled and nodded, ”After all, here, I don’t need to restrain myself as I do in Saral. Once the Undead Tribe goes down, I won’t stop them.”

The nobles sat quietly, no one uttering a word, all having seen how the Undead Tribe had swept through Saral.

Even if the Undead Tribe gave up on some minor issues under William’s stringent demands,

how those excessive nobles got swept clean to their last copper coin, all nobles remembered it well in their hearts.

But at least they still kept their lives.

Except for the crime of treason, William had never killed any of the great nobility.

The Hundred Cities Alliance had no one loyal to Saral.

William, as king, had no duty to preserve the foolish lives of those nobles.

”What about those from the Mage Association? Any problems there?” Carl suddenly asked, ”They’ve been staying in their room, unwilling to come out, and they haven’t visited the great hall either. They’re not like those from the Sorcerer Tower who dislike meeting outsiders!”

Miller shook his head, ”Several Silvermoon Sorcerers from the Sorcerer Tower are going to live in that great hall. Others have visited. Only those from the Mage Association keep their distance.”

William looked at the two Legendary Mages who spoke up and chuckled softly, ”No problem. They’re just getting on board as witnesses. Those with Legendary Laws have their own ships and won’t come to mine.”

He watched coldly underfoot, as if through several decks, he could see those people from the Mage Association below, ”In my presence, they cannot play any tricks. And the people from the Mage Association don’t have the courage to betray all of humanity!”

”But what about Polanio?” Carl frowned, ”That caused so much trouble, even the Sorcerer Tower turned their faces!”

He and Miller had previously disliked the Mage Association’s haughty attitudes, which is why they had joined Saral.

But the Mage Association of thousands of years ago hadn’t stood on the side of elves and opposed a newly risen Legendary Mage!

Even the half-elves wouldn’t dare to be so insolent.

Internal intrigue is one thing, but seeking trouble with your own people for the sake of elves is totally different, isn’t it?

Where is the pride of the Mage Association?

How could it stand tall before the human nations in the future?

Even though they knew someone was going to trouble Polanio, they never expected the group from the Mage Association to think that with elves in the background, they could disregard Fran’s opposition and Saral’s detestation.

What were they thinking? After all, the half-elves also joined the Mage Association under a human identity!

The Mage Association has held a lofty position for hundreds of thousands of years, and now they placed themselves even lower than the Forest of the Elves?

So what if Polanio was a Magician? Magicians have been part of the Mage Association for hundreds of thousands of years!

The Sorcerer Tower belongs to the Kingdom of Female Warlocks, not the Sorcerer Kingdom. The past Legendary Mages took much effort to achieve this, and it’s regrettable to waste it over such a matter.

It was especially so since these people sent to follow William onto the ship were acting so furtively!

Even as an Honorary Elder, Carl felt that the Mage Association was in danger this time.

Miller glanced at Carl, who was fretting over others, and turned his face away.

Miller felt that the Mage Association might face trouble in the future due to the severe internal strife, and it might even split.

But this had little to do with him, as a Legendary Mage from Saral. Although it was somewhat sad, Miller held no concern for the Mage Association.

But Carl had in-laws all over the world, so it was no wonder he worried about the downfall of the Mage Association.

If those people were really ruined, wouldn’t all the daughters and granddaughters Carl married off be wasted?

Are they being foolish again by bringing up Polanio, thinking Fran is too easygoing?
