Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 305: Chapter 108: The Fight Outside the Town

Hill leaned on the balcony railing, with the silver moonlight gently sprinkling over him.

He felt a peculiar sense of familiarity.

The behavior pattern of the World Will resembled the tactics often used by construction site foremen to woo favored apprentices.

They start with incentives but also like to use a certain tactic: I have a secret, I’ll only tell you! Make sure you keep it a secret!

If the kid keeps the secret, that’s great, and some tasks can also be entrusted to him.

If he accidentally lets it slip, that’s fine too: Ah! Still young, can’t keep his mouth shut! No worries, I corrected it in time, no major issue. Be more careful next time!

Those whom they woo in this manner are usually fresh graduates.

Capable but impetuous, prone to errors.

If it’s a mistake at work, many people who are new to the job have no choice, but speaking out a secret that shouldn’t be told makes them feel indebted.

Even those who can keep their mouths shut feel closer to their boss after sharing a secret.

Of course, those who need the foremen to make such efforts to woo them are usually those operating heavy machinery, needing both skill and strength. To be honest, these are really the last people you want to offend on a construction site, even the engineers don’t compare.

These people are always looking to change bosses, ready to switch at any moment.

Foremen do need to take some risks, after all, even with strong emotional ties, it doesn’t guarantee that the employees, seasoned through the years, will keep their gratitude; they still might leave.

But this fantasy world, where debts must be compensated, is different — owe too much, and Hill might really never get out.

Therefore, he must treat each matter with caution and care.

Hill would definitely not let his life’s choices be easily dictated by others.

Even though in the eyes of the World Will, Hill’s status was already very high, he was unwilling to give in.

Having made his decision, he buried this matter deep in his heart, waiting to see the developments from William’s side after some time.

Hill then enthusiastically considered the weapon he would use in the future.

This magic, aside from anything else, is simply cool.

Hill summoned List and asked him to issue a task to the Undead Tribe, seeking various weapon design blueprints.

He didn’t know if his weapon would have a prototype, better to do an extra step! Besides, another world might have a design he preferred!

”Almost all from the Undead Tribe who could come have arrived,” List didn’t leave immediately. ”Although only a little bit of life force is leaking, it seems to benefit them.”

”An Elemental Body, huh!” Hill wasn’t surprised, ”A body that allows easy use of soul projections naturally demands life force.”

Isn’t that just increasing the health limit?

Those with relationships with Hill’s Domain beyond friendly would crawl here!

Wait a second, Hill suddenly paused.

Hey! Souls, that’s Silvermoon’s domain. Life force, definitely can’t do without the Sun.

Although it’s just the Divine Power of Time and Space, those two might have had a hand in the composition of this body.

Hill thought about the giant tree the God of Time and Space pulled from the Abyss and then thought about the pure Natural Consciousness he perceived.

It’s possible for It to look after the Abyssal Gate, but to think of rescuing someone, there must be people, no, gods taught.

”But many from outside the domain have also come,” List said helplessly. ”They can’t enter and are causing some trouble.”

”Has anyone died?” Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

He knew the Undead well; typically, the Scattered Ones wouldn’t stir up trouble unless led by someone.

Those people before, unable to buy these good things, could still get someone to help carry them.

Spies, that kind of creature, will never be in short supply, with the Snow Cloud Peak Alliance having hundreds of thousands, even millions of people!

High-level Magical Beasts, they just couldn’t easily make a contract, it wasn’t entirely impossible.

Many from Youth Journey of the Wenjian World hadn’t come to Hill’s place.

Their contracts were with sea monsters.

So for that End of the World Alliance, who didn’t hesitate to gamble with Hill’s life, suffering was present but at most they’d feel stifled, not unable to survive.

After all, many pure PvP players don’t care about external things, always feeling their own abilities are most important.

But losing the chance to permanently increase health bar length is an unbearable pain in life for a player of a competitive game from the Undead Faction.

This is the outcome Hill wanted to see.

Hill knew well that since there was trouble, it was impossible not to take action.

”Did you have the arrow towers shoot them down?” Hill asked, delighted.

The first to initiate wouldn’t be the Scattered Ones.

”Before the life force emanated by the Wood Elemental Lord vanished,” List couldn’t help but sigh, ”the arrow towers took down a few. They stirred for a while, and the news I heard was that anyone who acts against the town will immediately slide into the Evil Faction and turn red, and after dying, they cannot be resurrected for six hours.”

”But they haven’t left the vicinity.”

Hill noticed what he said before.

”Later, the Undead in the town strongly requested that I issue a protect territory mission,” List said awkwardly with a smile, ”I thought it was a good idea, so I issued it.”

”Let them finish the fight and then replant the flora,” Hill laughed, ”If the flora outside the town is destroyed, there’s not much we can do but replant!”

”They are still fighting!” List said anxiously, ”Although they have moved away from the town, they are still fighting within the territory, and the protection mission is ongoing! It looks like they could fight for three days and three nights!”

Hill was indifferent; he had anticipated this when he heard that List had initiated the protect mission.

He didn’t see any problem; if it were him, he wouldn’t have waited for the Undead to ask.

”It’s fine,” Hill said reassuringly to List, ”Make sure to replenish the crystal stones consumed by the arrow towers; they will use them well. It’s good, the arrow towers haven’t been used in a long time, and their levels were falling behind. Killing Magical Beasts doesn’t yield as fast progression as killing the Undead.”

Hill swallowed back a comment, after all, no matter how many times the Undead die, the consumption is from the God of Time and Space’s elemental accumulation, and he is well-off! No need to worry.

”I just wanted to inform you, sir, that the magic array and arrow towers in the town are consuming crystal stones too quickly!” List said reluctantly, ”The magic array in the valley just used up all the accumulated energy, and now we can only burn crystal stones!”

”It’s fine,” Hill said cheerfully, ”The more times they die, the happier I will be.”

”Probably not,” List said, ”Those Scattered Ones that sir mentioned, even if they rashly join the fight, they won’t come back after dying for so long and not being able to resurrect. It’s still their factions fighting. But from the other side, people have started to not get up.”

Hill was a bit puzzled about what List was stressing over. The ones who could get up were the ones who hadn’t fought over the town, right? That doesn’t relate to the territory then!

”They plan to have a decisive battle here!” List exclaimed, ”Though they don’t get up, they haven’t left either! They just lie there watching! I heard Snow Cloud Peak talking with others, the End of the World is shaking people up! They plan to start a faction battle!”

”Then that’s Snow Cloud Peak’s issue,” Hill said calmly, ”The End of the World wouldn’t want to fight here in the town, they will definitely move away. Not being able to resurrect for six hours is punishment enough.”

”But they are still outside our territory,” List said with lingering concern.

Hill didn’t mind; just replant.

Hill knew well that whoever initiates the faction battle pays the price and it is expensive.

Hill had heard Snow Cloud Peak cursing the End of the World as paupers, unable to even afford a faction battle.

He also heard cursing at Ink Brush and Baldy, wondering why they couldn’t resist initiating it themselves, suggesting it would be better to spend the money on a meal.

Clearly, the cost of starting one faction battle was enough to pain these major faction leaders.

Now, Snow Cloud Peak and their allies wouldn’t start a faction battle themselves.

They have accepted the protect territory mission! Within this territory, they can kill anyone freely!

Unless the opposing side, literally rolls away.

But attacking the people who have accepted the protect territory mission is essentially declaring war on the territory itself.

The protect mission wouldn’t end automatically.

If the End of the World insists on staying and continues to fight, that’s even better! To be able to earn money while eliminating enemies, Hill could imagine how delighted the Undead must be.

It seems that because of the Scattered Ones spectating and joining the fight, for their own reputation, the End of the World Alliance must persist in one battle now.

After all, it appears that all of Snow Cloud Peak Alliance’s members are by the town, and the End of the World Alliance who struck first is at a disadvantage.

Whether calculated in advance or not, in the eyes of the End of the World’s members, it was their own people who struck first.

At this point, even if reluctantly, the End of the World Alliance has to show no fear.

Even if they lose, they must lose beautifully.

Otherwise, no matter how appealing the arguments, they appear as disgraced losers in the eyes of other players!

In player faction battles, winning or losing isn’t the most crucial part; but lost honor cannot be restored, otherwise their members will start to drift away.

”Why are there still so many of them?” List asked curiously, ”When they threatened your life before, weren’t many people cursing them and leaving the faction?”

”For players, that was just a momentary anger,” Hill replied nonchalantly, ”Their vindictive nature, indiscriminate of good and evil, caring only for kin and friends, actually attracts some thrill-seeking Undead!”

This alliance isn’t new to the game world; since they have been long-time enemies with Snow Cloud Peak, their style must have always been the same.

They still match the number of members in Snow Cloud Peak’s Alliance, evenly matched.

Perhaps slightly weaker, but certainly not lacking in numbers.

”Place some attribute potions in Srei’s location,” Hill remembered, referring to the attribute potions he had made recently, ”Especially those enhancing strength and mana, release them all! Directly tell them that this is my reward to those who participate in battle. Only those who accepted the guard mission can buy them!”

List looked at Hill, who clearly didn’t care, and nodded to go do the job.

Hill truly didn’t care how many times the Undead die there, or if it would cause too much consumption for the God of Time and Space.

Once he understood what was going on with the players’ bodies, he stopped worrying about the consumption by the God of Time and Space.

No wonder the God of Time and Space, even before ascending the Divine Throne, appeared so powerful. The Undead’s Elemental Body advanced rapidly.
