Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 303: Chapter 106: Young Master Doing Intelligence Business with Adrian

”So, were the elves originally interested in Hill primarily for this Wood Element Divine Art?” Adrian asked curiously.

”Even as the Eternal Race, they age and die. These elves have been in this world for hundreds of thousands of years! Not every elf can ascend to high-level status.”

Fran couldn’t help but laugh, ”Back when Hill was a Magister, why did that little princess want to seduce him?

She wasn’t necessarily planning to stay in human society.

Instead, if she took Hill’s child back with her, her status wouldn’t be low whether she completed her mission or not. After all, people of the Nature System have strong life forces, and it might be quite easy to have Hill’s child.

Otherwise, if she really wanted to be Hill’s wife, she wouldn’t have flirted with that fool from the Mage Association at the same time.

She didn’t expect that Hill wouldn’t even give her the chance for a spring fling.”

Adrian raised his eyebrows and said with a smirk, ”Hill, you’re too demanding with beauties! What a pity, just one relaxation, and you would have had an endless stream of beauties!”

”Wood Element requires a very high moral standard. Generally, only those from the Kind Alignment can get along with them,” Hill said expressionlessly, ignoring Adrian. ”If someone’s heart is dark, they cannot summon Wood Elemental Spirits; the spirits will only stay away.

The pure maidens of the Forest of the Elves are probably there to appease the Wood Elemental Spirits.

Even though a contract was signed with the Forest of the Elves back then, if the Element Lords really wanted to leave, breaking the contract would only mean a thousand years of slumber.”

The contract Hill and his elements have signed also hangs in this valley.

Even if Hill leaves this world for the Starry Sky, these Elemental Spirits can still live in the valley.

As long as Hill is alive, he can also summon these valley’s Elemental Spirits through the Elemental Realm.

If Hill ultimately ceases to exist, most of these Elemental Spirits will return to the Elemental Realm, especially the Lords.

But for the Elves, regardless of whether the Druid who originally summoned the Wood Elemental Spirits is alive, unless the Forest of the Elves perishes, those Wood Elemental Lords must stay there.

The places where these Wood Elemental Lords live, the forest cannot possibly perish.

Thus, the Elemental Realm has very few Element Lords willing to sign contracts with the Main World anymore.

Generally, it’s only the low-rank Elemental Spirits in Hill Valley who are willing to sign contracts with humans they like, growing together.

And they have agreed that once the human dies, they will leave and never sign any eternal land contracts again.

As for the Elves, who cares about them.”

Now, the low-rank Wood Elements in the Forest of the Elves are those split from the few Lord families over hundreds of thousands of years.

So it’s normal for the Elves to be interested in a Wood Element Warlock like Hill.

If it weren’t for the possibility of Hill threatening those Legendary contests for the position of Clan Leader among the Moon Elf Tribe, the Mage Association would have brought nothing but enthusiasm from the Elves.”

Hill could feel that many of the Magical Beasts lying on the ground had advanced.

Not to mention the Treants and Magical Plants, they have gained even more benefits.

The Life Divine Arts released by the Water and Wood Elements together turned Hill’s valley into a primeval forest in an instant.

Except near the fountain.

Hill’s eyes swept past the fountain emitting a faint glow; were the Spiral Pearls truly about to awaken this time?

Only very powerful Water Element forces could prevent plants from growing there.

Luckily, after ascending, the Water Elemental Lord stood there all the time, watching his companions ascend. Fran and Adrian glanced at it and then paid no more attention.”

Hill had always felt that Wood Elemental Spirits looked somewhat different from other elements.

Probably because they aren’t naturally formed, they like to take the shape of light orbs when alone.

They only shed their outer glow and reveal the small green figures inside when they need to interact with people.

The Wood Elemental Lord, a huge orb of light, slowly floated in front of Hill.

Maybe because he had stayed in the Divine Artifact of the Goddess of the Earth for a long time, Hill felt that the large orb in front of him was faintly tinged with yellow.

As Hill and the Wood Elemental Lord flying in front of him gazed at each other, he felt that this once very delightful little adventurer had slowly matured.

Wood, the Element, was also naturally forming along with the fuller Earth Element and the Gold Element.

But they should belong with the Earth System along with the Earth Element, not existing independently.

Just like the power of Wood Element, it shouldn’t only have growth but also withering.

Hill could feel that the Wood Elemental Lord in front of him was slowly finding the true future of the Wood Element.

They can live happily, but they cannot always have the intelligence of a child.

The life of a plant is a cycle.

Born from the earth and returning to the earth.

He is wood, wood that grows freely on earth.

”Eronaen.” The Wood Elemental Lord clearly stated his own name.

His gently fluttering transparent wings were outlined with gold.

”Congratulations, Lord Eronaen,” Hill bowed slightly in greeting.

Seeing the Wood Elemental Lord quickly fly to his beloved Treant and joyfully communicate with him.

Hill smiled, watching the Treants below beginning to stir, the gigantic trees within the Divine Artifact were slowly being awakened.

Previously, Fran and Adrian had not paid much attention to the exact number of Treants in Hill Valley. After all, some of them were always asleep.

Fran stood to one side, frowning, ”Your Wind Element is also about to become legendary, and that cat is close too, right? It’s best if those folks from the Mage Association don’t show up at that time.”

”Not so soon,” Hill shook his head, ”Alice might still need to sleep for a while. As for Kais, at least 2 years.”

Fran nodded, ”That’s good.”

Hill turned his head and glanced at his maternal grandfather, ”Is this useful for grandfather too?”

”A strong life force,” Fran smiled slightly, ”This is life extended proportionally, right? Although it’s slightly weaker for the legendary, it’s still a thousand years. There’s no need to rush anymore.”

Ever since becoming legendary, whenever Hill saw Fran, he was always reading books and documents.

Hill could now understand that feeling.

The world, severely damaged, one never knows what might happen in the future. Even at the legendary level, one would worry about encountering situations of helplessness.

Just like Hill now.

If he could help the Earth Goddess recover sooner, Hill felt he would do everything possible.

So, he really couldn’t understand what those deities squatting in the starry sky fighting for power were thinking.

The Elves and Dwarves need not be mentioned; they became gods not reliant on the laws of this world, and their faith was intrinsic.

What about the human deities then?

No, Hill thought quietly, there’s a deity he always overlooked, the God of Knowledge.

Why does it always seem like it’s just the God of Nobility and the Goddess of Love causing trouble?

The God of Commerce and Contracts being heavily influenced by the God of Nobility is understandable as well. He originally came from a noble background and often depends on nobles to ensure the normal signing of contracts.

So it was quite difficult for him to maintain his independence after ascending to the starry sky.

The Goddess of Agriculture and God of Knowledge, although very powerful, have always been silent.

Hill paid attention to the Goddess of Agriculture because of her affiliation with the Earth deities.

But apart from farmers reliant on the weather and land, few in cities worship this Goddess.

Her altars are mostly in rural wildernesses.

Most nobles truly don’t think of the Goddess of Agriculture.

The God of Knowledge is the same. However, he is the exact opposite of the Goddess of Agriculture; most of his worshipers are urban noble scholars.

These are generally mages who can’t reach high levels, or scholars interested in history or literature.

The presence of these two deities in human society is even less than that of the vanished Goddess of the Spring.

If Hill wasn’t a mage, if Adrian hadn’t always mentioned him, Hill might not even be aware of the God of Knowledge’s existence.

After all, besides buying and selling books, his church doesn’t do much other than haggling prices with the Mage Association.

Now, with the God of Nobility asleep and the Goddess of Love’s divine throne dimmed, silently nursing her wounds,

It seemed like only the Gods of Time and Space were left making their presence felt among the human deities.

Just as Hill was about to ask Fran something, he quietly closed his mouth.

Sometimes, some things are better pondered deeply in the heart first.

Some words are best thought through before being spoken, for many things one might be better off not knowing.

The more one cherishes those close to them, the less one should trouble them.

As the lingering effects of the Element Lord’s promotion dissipated, Fran turned to Hill, ”I’m going back to the Magic Tower. Adrian should also return to the Capital.”

”Is grandfather’s matter already completed?” Hill was a bit curious; that was quick to finish.

”I only handle the core Magic Array,” Fran said expressionlessly, ”Does the King think he can afford me now?”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh a bit; Fran was not talking about William.

Indeed, Adrian’s cheeks twitched, ”Teacher, don’t say that! I know, I won’t expend too much energy on the Royal Palace matter anymore.”

Fran was telling Adrian that to comfortably earn big money, one must become a master or a legendary. Like Adrian currently, he was essentially selling labor, so why still fuss over it for so long?

The designs were all ready, just throw them at those Royal Mages. Why suffer from excessive involvement and criticism for such little money, when it was such a hassle for Adrian?

Adrian, in fact, displayed typical noble behavior.

He liked to leverage power and was reluctant to give up any authority he held.

Fran was very dissatisfied with this, feeling he always couldn’t distinguish what was more important.

With that time, it would be better to start looking for good students!

Adrian scratched his head, ”I haven’t been idle. I even asked the Undead Tribe to help me investigate those children with sufficient aptitude.”

Hill looked at Adrian in surprise.

”Compared to us, the Undead see much more,” said Adrian, ”The young masters told me, if I’m willing to offer a long-term mission, they can ensure they even write down the dreams those students talk about at night.”
