Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 326: Chapter 127 The Soon-to-Be-Born Demi-God Artifact

Perhaps only Hill could understand William’s thoughts; even the high and mighty in heaven couldn’t.

In his youth, the God of Time and Space probably only needed passion and desperation. But in the later stages, he had no need to deal with those troublesome societal matters.

He understood the importance of fairness and justice to ordinary people, but he couldn’t fathom how a minor public official could cause so much trouble for them.

Even though Hill lived a plain and happy life, he could see that not everyone around him was granted fairness and justice.

Not to mention William, who must have seen even more.

Hill had always respected William, precisely because of the clothes William wore when the World Will broadcast his conversation with the high and mighty.

Although Hill didn’t receive any rescue and struggled for a while before he couldn’t hold on any longer, he was still grateful to those soldiers who risked their lives to rush in.

Therefore, Hill was willing to cooperate with many things William did.

Even if the guy liked to watch Hill’s jokes, it didn’t hinder Hill from trusting William’s character.

Hill happily looked at the finally completed Archmage Level Wind Magic in his hand; his task was temporarily brought to a close.

For Mage Level, even for Hill, it would require a much longer time.

He cheerfully picked out materials and carefully crafted three blue magic books from low to high level, then made two copies.

Things meant for others should be made exquisite, and they should clearly showcase one’s style.

Hill’s small vanity was at play.

He first had Old Cat deliver a set to Fran.

Although Fran, upon seeing Kais, had some insight into Wind Magic and even glimpsed a hint of the Wind Element Laws during his legendary moment, it was still not as systematic as Hill’s magic system.

Hill didn’t know what Demi-God Artifact Fran was working on, but it might come in handy.

He knew the other Undead Mages hadn’t left their territory recently and also knew that Old Cat would be slower on horseback than the others.

But Hill wanted him to go.

Then he had List issue a series of running tasks to the Undead Tribe within his own territory.

Old Cat also liked fluffy things.

But what he liked were cats. Taking advantage of his contracted fat cat, every time he entered the valley, he would look everywhere for cats to play with. The cats indeed didn’t hide from him much.

Old Cat would certainly be very willing to complete this running task.

Just because there’s no queue now, doesn’t mean there won’t be one later.

When he sees so many people running tasks outside, he’ll understand.

Old Cat would never dare not complete a task given by Hill, but while on the road, seeing the tasks sent by his friends, he would definitely feel a little distress.

Being slower by even an hour is still slower, especially among friends you play with. It’s only more aggravating.

Hill had played games himself; losing to strangers, and losing to friends you play with every day, the feelings are utterly different.

So knowing that Old Cat came back with a gloomy face, rushing straight into List’s small office to receive tasks, Hill was satisfied.

Even though he would eventually see that book, when Old Cat brought it over, it was definitely to watch the excitement, not to remind.

Now Hill just wanted to watch the excitement too.

Turnabout is fair play.

Setting aside his miscellaneous tasks for the moment, Hill began to read the books that had been accumulated during this time; the Undead had brought quite a few.

Suddenly, List appeared: ”Mr. Fran asks for your immediate presence.”

The Demi-God Artifact is about to take shape?

Hill’s spirits lifted, and he immediately got up and flew out quickly.

Now, the moment Hill flew into the sky, windswept magic would automatically envelop him, making it utterly impossible for anyone on this continent to fly faster than him.

So in almost the blink of an eye, he flew to the base of Fran’s Magic Tower.

Diamant was almost startled to greet Hill; he felt he had just informed List.

”Hello, Diamant,” Hill greeted happily. ”Where’s my grandfather?”

”In the top floor’s laboratory, Mr. Hill,” Diamant responded quickly. ”Mr. Adrian hasn’t arrived yet.”

”I’ll go up first. You wait for Uncle Adrian!” Hill entered the Floating Stairway, heading straight upstairs; he wouldn’t wait for Adrian, to be laughed at for becoming a celebrity, right?

By the time Hill reached Fran, Adrian wouldn’t dare say anything.

He didn’t enter the laboratory, though the door was open.

Fran was standing silently in the middle of a room spanning several thousand square feet, in front of a vastly large circular object.

Hill was no longer able to discern what materials had been used for this object.

It appeared to be an unremarkable sphere.

But Hill knew this thing had taken many years of Fran’s time, starting from the period as a Magister and continuing even during the initial time as a Legendary Mage, with considerable effort invested.

Having not succeeded in refining it directly then.

One could imagine how powerful and terrifying the materials and effort needed to fully refine this future Demi-God Artifact might be.

Hill carefully examined the Magic Array on the floor, attempting to discern its function.

This is indeed complicated. Hill recognized many of the symbols, but couldn’t fathom why they had to be placed in those specific positions.

Adrian came in after just 10 minutes, and Hill gave him a surprised glance. That fast?

”The Teleportation Array is actually quite useful,” Adrian remarked nonchalantly.

Hill curled his lips. Having been pushed to the brink, it seemed they no longer cared about the surveillance of the God of Time and Space.

Mages had always been reluctant to use it, partly because it was Divine Arts.

If a mage had invented it, they would have eagerly adopted it long ago.

It was the surrender of magic to a deity that truly made mages resist the use of the Teleportation Array.

Unless one day a powerful mage understood all the laws of Space Series magic and could engrave a Teleportation Array themselves, mages would still be stubborn.

So far, Fran’s lineage might be the one with the most extensive knowledge of Space Series, so Adrian had always known the Teleportation Array was safe.

But as a member of the mages, he would not use the Teleportation Array publicly, unless he took the risk in an emergency.

The God of Time and Space had always been silent about it, also because They did not want the high-level mages using the Teleportation Arrays.

Quite different from the Undead Tribe, which was under Their control. Who knew if a mage, in a bout of madness during teleportation, might blow up His spatial channel.

Especially those legendary mages.

So, it was an unspoken agreement between both parties. But certainly, some mages had secretly used it, like Adrian.

”That branch president of the Mage Association, he used the Teleportation Array when he was in a hurry to get back home last time,” Adrian whispered, ”Although he took great care to hide it, he was still discovered. After all, the difference between the mages of this world and the Undead Tribe is so obvious. There are only so many high-level mages, and it’s easy to guess who it was.”

Hill understood what Adrian was getting at. As the branch president of the Mage Association, if he felt it was alright to use the Teleportation Array in an emergency, then they certainly could too.

However, Hill couldn’t help but laugh joyfully. There was no use going back; it was just a mess anyway.

The Mage Association was still entangled with the Sorcerer Tower, hoping to change their minds.

Unfortunately, the temperaments of the sorcerers were not something that could be swayed by any reasoning.

They had put up with it initially because they truly had no other choice.

But now that they had an opportunity, they were determined to act decisively.

For the Chaotic Faction, making decisions was the quickest process.

Moreover, once the Chaotic Faction abandoned something, they would never look back.

Of course, maybe in time, some sorcerer would whimsically change their mind on their own.

But to get these sorcerers, who had rarely reached consensus over thousands of years, to sit down together again to make a change, might take another millennium.

For the people of the Chaotic Faction to have the patience to slowly dedicate themselves to one thing, that thing must bring them more joy than anything else in the world. The Mage Association, however, just wasn’t worth that much.

The two had a brief exchange and then fell silent again.

Fran was making his move.

Though he had been silent, his spiritual power had been continuously reaching out, aware that all who were supposed to come had arrived.

Fran had attuned to this spherical material countless times, each thread soaked with his spiritual power.

Hill watched Fran activate the Magic Array, and in the midst of the rainbow-colored light, the sphere floating above the Array slowly began changing shape.

It wasn’t long before Hill identified it as a crystal ball.

Or should it be called the Sphere of All Spells?

Hill didn’t know which spells Fran had chosen, but he could make out some elemental properties.

On the crystal ball, various colors of light flowed extremely fast, and only with his spiritual power fully tensed could Hill sense the filled facets of the crystal ball.

Adrian groaned softly beside him.

Hill understood he couldn’t keep up anymore.

A mage’s spiritual power was completely insufficient in this situation.

Fran’s speed was too fast.

But later, Fran would surely ask what he had seen, and Adrian didn’t know which parts he needed to observe to satisfy Fran. He felt a bit panicked.

Hill didn’t dwell on it further; he was nearly unable to keep up as well.

The years of Alchemy research had made Fran’s spiritual power incredibly dense, and the speed of his spell transitions was astonishingly fast.

Even with robust spiritual power, Hill was starting to struggle.

But Hill could sense that Fran’s choices in spells were deeply deliberate.

To the very least, he had paid careful attention to the generation and restraining aspects between the spells.

The complexity of the Magic Array Fran had engraved on the ground was due to the fact it could provide elemental powers from every series.

Once Hill could no longer keep up, he withdrew his spiritual power and engraved the Memory Array Diagram deeply in his mind.

Such a Legendary Formation Diagram could not be taught; one could only analyze it gradually within their mental sea.

The method of the Undead, enlarging the phantom image and then engraving it according to the diagram, is utterly incapable of producing a Legendary or higher level Array Diagram.

Because if one knows nothing, some runes representing laws simply cannot be written.

It pays you no mind.

Even if one saw its existence, those who don’t understand it can never recognize it or remember it.

But for most alchemists, a high-level Array Diagram is something they might never touch in their entire lives, so in contrast, it’s the method of the Undead that envies more.
