Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 306: Chapter 109 The Enemy’s Resentment is the Source of Pleasure

Hill had always believed that the God of Time and Space, who could summon billions of elemental bodies, was as powerful as the Creator God!

Although he had some doubts, Hill suspected it was the World Will helping, given its inclination.

But if the Sun and Silvermoon had already awakened, they wouldn’t remain silent and uninvolved.

Even if injured and unable to use divine power, creating an elemental body wouldn’t be a problem for them.

One handled the elemental body, and the other the soul projection. Add the God of Time and Space, who knew how to use minimal divine power to connect the two sides.

Just the right expertise, it’s truly remarkable!

Hill shook his head. The truth would soon come to light, and the elves and dwarves would soon know who their real enemy was.

Rising to wash up, Hill planned to have a good night’s sleep.

Thinking about the good news he would hear upon waking, he felt he would have a beautiful dream.

Even before he fell asleep, Hill wondered whether those people in the Doomsday faction would hold on until he woke up.

After all, the Black Rose people were busy making alchemy potions!

They had recently been renting the Alchemy Workshop, and the potions were piling up like mountains.

In the middle of a sweet dream.

Hill saw the bear again.

The Earth Bear, with its golden fur thick and dense, always radiated a golden glow, looking quite lumbering and clumsy.

This was the first time Hill felt its ferocity.

With a swipe of its paw, it cleaved the mountain blocking its path in half.

Rarely showing such a fierce expression, it charged towards the battlefield in fury.

Hill didn’t know where this battlefield was, as he only saw the bear running on the ground.

But he could feel the immense sorrow and anger within the great bear’s heart.

Why exclude me!

He would not let his Mother Earth fight alone!

Even if he was to die, he would die at Mother Earth’s feet!

Hill didn’t see the conclusion; the bear, deep within his bloodline, didn’t want to show this to his descendants.

All the memories Hill had seen before were beautiful and happy.

This was the first time he saw the Earth Bear’s suffering.

He grew up happily from a little cub, only to fall into eternal sadness at this moment.

Sighing, Hill climbed out of bed.

Maybe it was because he had become legendary and entered the Goddess of the Earth’s divine artifact that he saw this little bit of memory.

But since Hill saw it, it only meant that the bear survived the great war.

And met the Moon Elves.

He wondered what kind of entanglement led to their descendants.

So, do the pureblood Moon Elves have other legacies?

They are Moon Elves, not Wood Elves!

Even if born from the Moon Tree with innate wood-element divine arts, they should possess some characteristics of the Moon Goddess!

Sitting on the bed, Hill decided not to ponder his ancestors’ issues too much.

When the war between humans and elves concluded, Hill felt the truth would naturally present itself to him.

Maybe it was a bit of an escape from reality, but Hill didn’t think it was meaningful to dig up this secret just to satisfy his curiosity.

The hybrid Moon Elves hiding steadfastly in the wild didn’t earn much of Hill’s favor.

Even now, these elves pretended to know nothing at all.

Indeed, whether humans or elves win, it wouldn’t impact their future much.

Probably no pureblood Moon Elves were alive anymore.

For these hybrids, the elves are closer kin than humans. Not helping either side is their greatest sincerity!

If humans indeed drove out the foreign elves, they might seize the opportunity to take over the Forest of the Elves!

Hill didn’t know what the Goddess of the Hunt thought before she died, but until now, no Moon Elf had come to ask him about that day’s truth.

Hill used to think it was because the returning elves didn’t tell the truth since they couldn’t see the Undead Tribe’s broadcasts.

These hybrid Moon Elves might have made the decision to hide without knowing anything but refused to believe the Elven Royalty’s words.

Better than those who sided with the foreign elves.

But Fran’s words woke him up.

If the Moon Elves internally already knew of the Goddess of the Hunt’s praise for Hill, it meant they knew the truth.

Hiding in the wilderness without doing anything was their way of repaying their goddess.

If so, they were worse than the Moon Elves who sided with the Elven God King from the beginning.

After all, distinguishing Moon Elves from foreign elves often came down to whether they had silver hair or golden hair.

So, even if Silvermoon had awakened at this moment, she wouldn’t want to deal with the Moon Tree’s matters.

Hill didn’t fully understand the Moon Elves’ actions.

But compared to the Wolf Tribe, the Moon Elves’ somewhat selfish behavior made the goddess’s hesitation quite normal.

Whether Silvermoon would forgive the Moon Elves before she appeared above the silver moon for all creatures on earth to see remained unknown.

Hill couldn’t fathom the goddess’s thinking.

Hill got up to wash, and List came to report while he was soaking in the bath.

”Do I have such a good mood when I’m bathing?” Hill couldn’t help but ask List, who stood seriously with an illusory notebook beyond the curtain.

”Yes. Your mood is indeed slightly better than usual. But most importantly, when you are angry, you won’t damage anything valuable.” List answered seriously, ”No matter how wealthy, waste shouldn’t be allowed.”

Hill suddenly felt that he must have missed his mom a lot when he created List.

He plunged into the water to cool down, not wanting to know his current expression.

”Your arrow tower has advanced to the highest level,” List said calmly. ”It seems divine power has its limits, a bit unfortunate. It takes 3-4 arrows to kill a Sky Knight. Surprisingly, priests and mages die faster than knights. Many forgot to activate their shields.”

Hill knew why List didn’t mention swordsmen; they died the fastest.

From List’s words, it was clear how chaotic the external battle was.

Everyone was more focused on hitting the enemy a few more times rather than surviving. They didn’t even care about the six-hour resurrection penalty if they hit the territory by accident.

”It’s been flattened outside, sir,” List said unhappily. ”The magic defense shield of the territory has consumed too much!”

”It’s okay.” Hill smiled, ”It’s just this one time. Anyway, they are more upset that their enemy, not themselves, is gaining an advantage.”

He dressed and adjusted his sleeves, ”Making them unbalanced and unhappy pleases me greatly.”

Seeing List’s confused face, Hill laughed, ”List, spending some money to make me happy is worth it, isn’t it?”

”Of course. If it genuinely delights you, sir, spending more is worth it,” List replied earnestly. ”I’ll keep piling up crystal stones in the town. I also activated the defensive magic array in the valley, concerned they might launch a surprise attack.”

Hill shook his head, ”It’s prudent to be on guard, but don’t worry too much. Since they didn’t target the valley initially, they must have their reasons.”

”Why?” List genuinely didn’t understand.

”In the Undead Tribe’s eyes, the town is enemy-occupied territory, even if the lord is me,” Hill chuckled, ”Their aim isn’t to offend me but to provoke Snow Cloud Peak into making a mistake, angering me and getting expelled.

If neither gains any benefit from me, they’ve won.”

”They don’t care if the Scattered Ones gain more,” List concluded, ”As long as their enemies don’t.”

”Exactly.” Hill’s mood brightened, ”Watch closely and you’ll see, once the chaotic battle begins, Snow Cloud Peak will be very cautious to minimize territory consumption to avoid angering me. After all, they already gained a lot from the protective task you activated!”

List remained silent, but Hill knew his attention had shifted.

”Indeed, I hadn’t noticed,” List quickly realized, ”Above the town, many mages with active magic shields are present. I didn’t notice as they were casting blizzards outward.”

”So, this event might have started as an unplanned incident,” Hill told List, ”But once the leaders arrived, each had their schemes. Before I slept, I thought it might escalate, but likely they’d tire and disperse.

After all, it was only those Doomsday folks with disgruntled family members uncaring about severe punishments.

If you hadn’t activated the protective task, a few impulsive individuals would have learned their lesson from the six-hour resurrection penalty, warning others.

Perhaps they’d have caused some trouble before dispersing.

Yet, with the protective task activated, family members bearing grudges against the town must have had hostile intentions.

Many probably switched to attack mode, showing attitude, only to be killed by the opportunistic Snow Cloud Peak Alliance.

What then? They died.

Stubbornly, the Doomsday faction would have to fight on.

But as I predicted, their significant red names would make them reluctant to continue, seeking new battlegrounds.

In the past, the Doomsday commanders were headstrong, often impulsively ending battles.

I expected them to disperse after finishing the fight by the time I woke.

This time it seems they’ve changed leadership, one skilled in manipulation and schemes.

Sacrificing some, attempting to provoke Snow Cloud Peak into using more town resources.

If my resources are heavily spent, I’d be displeased.”

”Perhaps after many losses in Noah, they changed leadership,” List suggested after considering, ”A few days ago, Perfect Bald and Mobi Chen were both berating someone. They seemed to have been ambushed. I’ll listen to their conversations next time.”

Hill nodded, ”Good idea. Though not friends, caution is essential.”
