Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 307: Chapter 110: Newcomer’s New Look, Doomsday Changes Boss

”There’s one more thing,” List glanced at Hill, ”The Mage Association has formally notified us that they will be arriving in three days to celebrate Mr. Hill’s legendary achievements and to bring some materials for Mr. Hill.”

”3 days?” Hill laughed, ”Go ask Snow Cloud Peak if they can keep it up till then. If so, I will let each person from my territory take one of the colored intermediate rabbits with them.”

”Mr. Hill? The number of mid-level rabbits seems to be less than 30,000?”

”The number of people who can enter the valley each day is only a few hundred. With 30,000 rabbits, how many can be born in a month? Just thinking about it scares me.”

List did his own calculations and felt the horror too.

In the past, no matter how many rabbits there were, they were food for magical beasts.

But in Hill’s valley, it is not allowed to harm any intelligent creatures.

Those giant rabbits, hunted by the magical beasts daily, could maintain a balance, providing just enough for the growing magical beast families.

But if these mid-level rabbits had no natural enemies and were all left in the valley, then apart from the magic plant treants, they would probably devour all other plants.”

List quickly stated very seriously that he would definitely pay close attention to the rabbit situation.

”Turn the third floor of the Lord’s Mansion into a reception hall. That’s where I’ll receive them,” Hill smiled, ”Remember to activate the alignment detection divine array.”

”The workshops of the Undead Tribe?”

”What’s that got to do with them?” Hill said with a sneer, ”If they want lodging, isn’t there an inn?”

List thought about it: ”Let’s still prepare the fourth floor of the Lord’s Mansion as guest rooms, in case the Mage Association sends someone with common sense?”

Although it was unlikely, List was more thoughtful than him, so Hill nodded in agreement.

List quickly went to ask the Undead Tribe if it was possible to continue the battle until three days later.

Snow Cloud Peak was quick and firm in their response: impossible.

They really wanted the rabbit that everyone could have, but they just couldn’t do it.

So Snow Cloud Peak tried asking List if Hill just wanted to make a show of strength, they could stage a mock battle.

He briefly explained that since the other side’s objective couldn’t be achieved, it was better to make a strategic retreat sooner rather than later. Don’t be fooled by the fierce fighting; in fact, they were already preparing to withdraw.

Hill, upon receiving List’s reply, could only reluctantly give up on the idea.

It seemed that this was a probing attack by the newcomers from the Doomsday side.

Snow Cloud Peak was so eager to engage in battle precisely because they wanted to figure out the opponent’s command style.

Indeed, seasoned adversaries each had a measure of the other.

But having clarified with List why Hill suddenly had this idea, Snow Cloud Peak slapped his chest and assured that, if Hill wished, they would definitely provide the Mage Association with a unique welcoming ceremony.

They promised it would be an unforgettable, deep-seated memory for life.

After some thought, Hill still decided to refuse painfully.

After all, as List said, it wasn’t appropriate for Hill to show hostility toward the Mage Association before they made a move.

After all, their arrival on the surface was with good intentions, without having done anything substantive yet.

There was no need to hand them a pretext by taking the initiative.

But he told List to inform Snow Cloud Peak that if needed, he would immediately assign them a task.

Although it was a bit disappointing, Hill knew there wasn’t much he could do.

To cheer himself up, he contacted Adrian.

William was indeed struggling.

He felt that conferring Nature’s Blessing on the Ginkgo Treant was for the Saral Royal Palace, and this expense should not be borne by him alone.

Adrian happily ate melons all day.

The Chancellor appointed by William flatly refused the King’s request.

His Majesty the King himself could satisfy the matter by mining for a day, so he need not meddle further.

The coffers of Saral were empty!

Not long ago, William had issued a royal decree, formally unifying the three territories of Saral to align politically and economically.

The first step was the collection and reminting of gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins.

Even though William had people set up a special mint, completely managed by alchemy golems to avoid any risk of mold theft, just the exchange rate with the old currency had nearly exhausted everyone in the Treasury.

Because it involved the lifeline of Saral’s economy, aside from the Treasury busy counting money, everyone else was put to use.

William didn’t even allow the use of the Space-Time Cathedral for currency exchange and insisted on opening a bank in each city instead.

The Chancellor was so busy he didn’t have time to deal with palace affairs.

William, on the other hand, didn’t struggle long before he went mining himself; it seemed he still planned to invite Hill.

William had never broken a promise he made, which was something Hill had never worried about.

But after bidding farewell to an elated Adrian, Hill sighed.

It appeared that William was also struggling, wanting the government to restrain the King yet somewhat reluctant to start with himself.

If the Prime Minister had taken up William’s offer and paid him half the money, but insisted that the Royal Palace should allow the government to manage its future affairs, perhaps William would have been even happier.

But he also wasn’t too willing to make it clear.

Putting reins on oneself, nobody liked doing that.

In this world, there had never before been someone who wanted to bind the King.

Let alone a King who was also an earthly deity.

William really thought too much. Only when more and more high-level professionals emerge might there be more people with freer and bolder thoughts, right?

At this time, no Royal Ministers would dare to defy a legendary King lightly; such a move would genuinely be life-threatening, without even the need to dispatch an army.

Who would bother to think about binding a character who could wipe out all resistance with a wave of his hand, unless they had nothing better to do?

Unless the advancement of thought surpassed the limits of martial force would someone possibly sacrifice themselves for a cause.

The Chancellor dared to outright reject William’s request because William leaned towards neutrality and goodness!

It wasn’t because William was a good King.

Hill thought about it and found some gold coins used by the Undead Tribe from his ring.

The back of the coin was the Saral Kingdom’s Royal Family crest, encircled by some letters, while the obverse was a miniature of either Obastian or Kexlote.

Hill didn’t have any silver or copper coins. He planned to ask List to get some to have a look.

He thought he was just waiting for someone to come after three days. Hill was planning to rest up and gather his strength, ready to confront his opponents.

However, Old Cat suddenly sought out List.

Old Cat, who usually disliked meddling in others’ affairs, spent each day lounging on the chair in the cathedral watching the big screen, rarely ever leaving the little town, was an unusual existence indeed.

Unless it was a world quest or allurements like a gourmet amusement park, he really never strayed from the town.

Though the Undead Tribe certainly had many casual players, the focus still laid in playing. To the many Undead, those who came to the game just to watch live streams were considered oddities.

So for him to suddenly step forward, even List felt surprised and directly informed Hill.

”There’s someone with a somewhat special identity.” Old Cat was a bit embarrassed, his head lowered, not wanting to look into List’s eyes, ”In our world, he’s quite wealthy. He just acquired End of the World Romance. Also hired one of our famous commanders from that side. He asked me to inquire with the lord if they sincerely apologize, is there a chance to unlock missions for the territory?

He doesn’t expect the same as Snow Cloud Peak, just hopes our territory could release a mission chain that could boost reputation.”

”How did they find you?” Hill asked through List, ”Aren’t you the type to avoid nosing into others’ business and not deal with anyone outside your original circle of friends?”

”He recognized me in a video. Although we aren’t very close, our elders know each other and remain in contact,

So I had to respond somehow, I couldn’t just reject it flatly.

Since he came to me, I had to ask.”

So Old Cat is just a decadent rich second-generation then.

”What does he mean by his sincerity?” Hill suddenly wondered why this new owner of End of the World sought him out at this time.

”He said, Mr. Hill wanted Snow Cloud Peak and End of the World Alliance to battle until three days later, right?

He would be very willing to oblige. Furthermore, all those who initially took part in the attack against Mr. Hill,

This time they will launch an assault on the town on their own initiative, becoming red names to be directly killed off, and only able to resurrect after six hours.

Moreover, even after resurrection, they must embark on a penance quest. These people will spend at least seven days tied to this task.

It might still be difficult for Mr. Hill to endure the previous threat,

But the ones who gave the orders will no longer come to this world.

He hopes Mr. Hill will give them a chance.”

Hill helplessly shook his head. The new boss of End of the World had already planted spies within the high ranks of the Snow Cloud Peak Alliance, had he?

This matter would definitely not be disclosed to the everyday clan members by Snow Cloud Peak. At most, it would be mentioned within the management channel as the Old Age Striking King had pointed out previously.

To have the news reach the Apocalyptic Boss so swiftly was a clear sign that it came from someone directly receiving first-hand information.

Without giving anything away, Hill had List relay to Old Cat, ”Tell him, I must consult with my own allies about this matter, as it involves them even more closely.”

”Do you mean Snow Cloud Peak and their members?” Old Cat responded quickly, ”He said during his request that if Mr. Hill agrees, he would personally discuss it with Snow Cloud Peak. He promised to handle the matter to perfection.”

Hill gestured for List to pass the message to Snow Cloud Peak.

Since the new boss didn’t mind Hill informing Snow Cloud Peak, thereby revealing he had a high-level spy among the enemy,

Hill wouldn’t be courteous about it either.

Hill pondered for a while. What the boss requested was merely for Hill to release a mission chain. He had no expectations for the mission chain, meaning his primary goal was to signify to the individual players the difference between himself and his predecessor.

He would definitely not harm the interests of most players for his personal desires.

And he was willing to clean up the mess left by his foolish predecessor.

But why was he so sure that Snow Cloud Peak would give him face in this matter?

Is it possible that they had a common enemy entering this world?

Had William already released the next content update?
