Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 334: Chapter 133: Knight and Wolf’s Secret Contest

Spencer ordered the knights to leave all their attendants behind, having them stay in Hill’s territory to look after the mounts of the Knight Corps.

List would surely arrange this well; Hill just mentioned to take extra care of it.

However, Hill felt it strange that Spencer brought along an entire Knight Corps and their attendants, riding their Magic Beast Horses.

”His Majesty the King thinks it’s better to keep the matter of Wolf King Valley a secret for now,” Spencer explained, approaching Hill upon seeing his gaze, ”I was out training them and came here directly. I train the troops daily, and once we leave, it’s for several days. Those who watch me don’t dare to follow closely, as I have a treasure from the King on me, which makes it easy to find anyone tailing us.”

This Sky Knight showed a wide grin filled with white teeth: ”After killing a few, nobody dares to follow and see how I train the knights anymore. They probably start worrying only when I don’t return for a few days.”

He glanced at Hill again, probing, ”I recall that the Mages’ spaceship can become invisible?”

Hill responded with irritation, ”Don’t worry, you all won’t even see the road we take. The Wolf God’s rope carries a deity-level Illusion Technique. Apart from me, you can’t see outside from on board, and those outside can’t see this ship.”

”Is this a Divine Artifact?” Spencer looked at the rope with reverence, ”He gave it just like that?”

”Are you dreaming?” Hill couldn’t help but retort, ”Do you see the Wolf God as that generous? Impossible!

It’s just guiding the way. It’s already good that there’s a reward.

This is a pseudo Divine Artifact with a limited number of uses.

Once the divine power in the wolf fur is depleted, it becomes useless, but it’s still a top-tier Alchemical Material.”

As Hill released a silver, large ship, Spencer was heard murmuring to his deputy in secrecy, ”It really is made from wolf fur! No wonder Gale has been so annoying these past few days. And it can only be used a few times, didn’t His Majesty say that the wolf was wealthy? Why so stingy?”

Hill, with a stern face, led Spencer and over a hundred knights onto the ship.

William got along well with him, and it clearly wasn’t just because they had grown up together.

This Sky Knight must know that for the Wolf God ascending into the starry skies, giving things to the Lower Realm is not so simple.

And only this fur, nearly a crystallization of divine power, could be casually handed over to humans.

Otherwise, with the Wolf God’s cunning and cautious nature, would he let humans handle his possessions?

Spencer, being very close to William and constantly together, should know all this.

But he just pretended to be ignorant.

Moreover, he framed everything in interrogative sentences, so even if the Wolf God listened at this moment, it would be hard to reproach him.

Of course, that’s also because Spencer has a strong backing, and no deity would take issue with a few words under William’s protection.

Just like the former God of Nobility, who struck down those who spoke loosely and slandered him with lightning; those were merely nobles like Sky Knights, or at most Magisters.

If it were a Legendary, he would also pretend not to have heard. When it comes to deep-rooted Magisters, the God of Nobility might strike down with a few bolts of lightning just to express his anger and make the talkative person change their statement, but definitely wouldn’t kill.

So, after Fran had become a Legendary, Adrian spoke less cautiously.

At this time, an unintentional offense no longer attracted divine punishment.

An unintentional offense by a powerful person was considered a mishap and forgivable.

An unintentional offense by a powerless person was deemed courting death.

Moreover, Hill knew that once Spencer brought people into his territory, it was all just a grand performance.

The deities above the stars watched over this place, and William, far away in the Royal Capital, was also watching.

Spencer was rather courteous, specifically stating that he bore a treasure gifted by William.

This somewhat cryptic statement merely indicated that he was constantly within William’s sight.

Of course, if Hill were foolish enough not to understand that, then Spencer would say no more.

Hill sat in the hall, placing the wolf fur on the core of the spaceship’s controller. The ship then lifted off gracefully.

Seeing that Hill did not ask them to retreat to the lower decks, Spencer immediately lay down at the bow, gazing at the scenery below.

However, once they left the vicinity of Saral, outside the domain of the God of Time and Space, the ship quickly became surrounded by layers of clouds, obstructing Spencer’s view.

He turned to look at Hill, who was reading a book: ”So, you really don’t need to guide us; does this fur know the way? Then why did you insist on me coming with you? Does the Wolf God not trust humans that much? Does He still need a Witness?”

”The Silvermoon Wolf God personally witnessed what happened to His brother and the Lake Goddess. He cannot possibly trust humans,” Hill said, flipping the page of his book without looking up. ”No matter how you test him, He will not waver. Humans are descendants of his enemies. They can be ignored, but will definitely not become friends.

But when the Silvermoon reigns in the sky, He won’t go against the will of the Silvermoon.”

Spencer clicked his tongue and shook his head, leaving the deck.

Since he couldn’t see anything, he might as well rest well with his knights.

The ship was large, with over a hundred knights having their own little rooms.

They nearly all rushed in to clean up and rest as soon as they got on board, leaving only Spencer and a few of his attendants outside.

Watching Spencer leave with the last few people, Hill couldn’t help but sigh: ”I hope the Wolf King sent by the Silvermoon Wolf God is dependable; otherwise, with Spencer already slightly discontented, who knows, he might really start a fight. No wonder he brought an entire Knight Corps, even including dozens of Sky Knights by now.”

Yet, it seems that none of William’s subordinates think there’s anything wrong with the God of Nobility meddling with the spring water to kill the Wolf God’s brother and the Lake Goddess!

Indeed, it’s a racial issue.

If that Wolf God wants to dominate the world, he shouldn’t blame the neighboring country for striking first.”

Wolf King Valley, Hill pondered a moment, probably doesn’t have many Legendaries, does it?

What then, is the foundation of William’s cooperation with them?

The spaceship was fast, and Hill looked at the scenery outside.

Sure enough, with the ”Silvermoon Blessing,” his vision was still clear.

The illusion power from the wolf fur rope had no effect on him.

Seeing some familiar scenery, Hill instructed the Tower Spirit controlling the spaceship to notify Spencer and the others to tidy up their clothes and come up to the deck!

Hill hovered above the valley for a while before he saw Spencer, in full armor, leading the fully armed Knight Corps up.

He controlled his desire to sigh: This was both species testing each other before cooperation.

Hill was the witness both sides felt they could trust.

So he had no thoughts of refusing to appear.

Trust is hard to build.

Yet it collapses in just a second.

Hill’s ship slowly drifted between the cliffs in front of the valley.

The vultures were actually still there.

It seemed they had reached an agreement with the wolves in the valley.

To the wolves, these birds, at most capable of killing rabbits, posed no threat.

Instead, they made good sentinels.

As soon as Hill’s ship entered, the vultures took flight, screeching sharply, alerting the wolves in the valley.

Hill ignored these vultures; they were merely notifying the wolf pack of their arrival.

With the presence of the Silvermoon Altar, these wolves should already be aware of who was coming and for what purpose.

The moment his ship entered the grassy valley, the clouds outside dissipated.

Spencer gazed at the beautiful, vast grasslands and exclaimed from deep within himself, ”How many fine horses could be bred in a place like this!”

The tone of regret in his voice made Hill understand why the Silvermoon Wolf God felt that humans should not know the exact location of their Wolf King Valley.

Even though this world was lush with vegetation and had many grasslands suitable for breeding horses, this place was indeed exceptionally fertile.

If this place were within Spencer’s reach, Hill, seeing the fervor in Spencer’s eyes, would have difficulty ensuring he wouldn’t covet it.

But Hill couldn’t tell whether this was Spencer’s true intention or just a façade for the one above.

He felt he was becoming a bit silly, unable to distinguish clearly.

Fortunately, the wolf pack had already sent a large group of high-level Demon Wolves to welcome them.

Hill closely observed and saw that all the tribes were present.

And half of them were of Sky Knight level.

Even if Spencer and his fully armed knights could fight one against many, the sheer number of the wolf pack was threatening enough to them.

Spencer quickly curbed his greed for the valley and got off the ship with proper decorum.

Hill stowed the ship and followed behind.

He had no intention of getting involved in the showdown between the two sides ahead, so he lightly flew in the sky, watching the massive number of wolves in the valley.

Hill felt he understood why the Silvermoon Wolf God definitely wanted the wolf pack to participate in this war.

It hadn’t been long since! Hill felt the wolves in the valley were so numerous they overflowed the area.

This was land enough to establish a small duchy.

Even though the water and grass were lush and there were plenty of herbivores.

But in a place where a wolf pack existed so densely, what herbivore could live happily!

Hill sensed that the herds of cattle and sheep he had seen on his last visit were now almost all trembling in the corner.

They had no desire to live.

If the number of wolves were not so high, these herbivores might still come to an understanding with them, with the weak falling prey to the wolves and the strong finding their escape.

But now, even if the wolves wanted to sustain them, this constant threat was about to end the lives of these herbivores.

On the entire grassland, it seemed only the rabbits were lively and spirited.

Had more wolves from distant lands run here after Hill left?

With the care of the Silvermoon Wolf God, indeed no one could see the movements of the wolf pack.

And nobody would offend this vengefully ablaze and thriving Wolf God over these matters.

Hill glanced at the White Wolf leader who was confronting Spencer.

The agile steps, the high-held wolf head, and the fierce aura all proved this was a robust, young wolf.

This must be one that had just been promoted after arriving in Wolf God Valley, not yet jaded by reality.

Hill looked up and saw several giant wolves squatting in front of the Silvermoon Altar.

Cruelty and cunning were already evident in these old wolves’ eyes.
