Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 301: Chapter 104: The Heavy Snow Brought by the Water Elemental Lord

Hill felt that Legendary Mages and Elves might not dare to send anyone out.

Only if these Legendary Mages did not come out, would the few in the Mage Association not formally intervene.

After all, it could be inferred that those few in the Mage Association were truly old fellows who had used some methods to extend their lives.

Hill secretly glanced at Fran; his grandfather must know what method that is.

Then he did not need to worry, for Hill’s life was already very long, and he did not want to lose this only relative too soon.

But speaking of which, even if the Elves only sent out Legendary Rangers, the Undead Tribe with possibly up to a hundred million in number would not be something to be feared.

Legendary? The Undead Tribe had killed those before.

Fran, who had once witnessed the Undead Tribe pile up corpses to kill a Legendary, always had lingering fears, even though that Legendary was a Knight, someone who understood only a little about laws. But after all, that was a Legend.

Hill turned his head and saw Fran’s calm expression, knowing that Fran no longer worried about the presence of the Undead Tribe.

Fran never thought of being an enemy to William, but to a high-level Mage like him, any existence that could easily threaten his life would make him uneasy.

Fran was indeed the type of Legendary Mage who could utilize rules. Unless someone could strip away all the laws Fran could use, there was no one in this world who could bring him down.

And who knew how many laws Fran, who had become a Legend through Alchemical Law, could control?

Even William, at most, could only prevent Fran from using space and time spells.

So even if the power William controlled was strong, he could at most defeat Fran, but not easily kill him.

The Legendaries Hill had previously encountered were those like Carl and Miller, Mages who barely entered Legendary by relying on one or two laws; their law control was very weak.

Even if they were not deities controlling those laws, some methods could hinder their connection to the laws. So, for them, William was a terrible existence, one they absolutely dared not offend.

Thus, they were also willing to follow William, and becoming a follower of a True God was not humiliating for them.

Like the Mage Association, the divided attitude towards Saral was related to this point.

Those powerful Legendary Mages, though unwilling to offend a future True God, were not afraid of him either.

So they could calmly discuss cooperation with William.

But truly fearful of William were those trickster Legendary Mages.

However, it so happened that William’s policies and actions directly threatened their interests as well.

So William simply collaborated directly with those Elder Councilors of the Mage Association, completely ignoring these so-called association executives.

Similarly, to those Legendary Laws, because they needed those family members to work, they could turn a blind eye to minor matters. But in truly important things, they would not care about these people’s feelings at all.

Hill laughed indifferently: ”Grandfather need not worry about me.” He raised his hand and waved at a few Wind Elemental Spirits flying happily and circling outside, ”Even if the Elves acted against me, they wouldn’t have the ability. Their Mages are not as much of a threat to me as Druids. But even Druids only know Nature’s Divine Art, and it’s just wood element after all.”

Hill swallowed a phrase back. After becoming Legendary, nature’s favor on him had grown even thicker, and even a Legendary Druid couldn’t surpass him in this regard.

Hill knew that if he encountered something again now, as long as he merely wanted to escape, no deity could catch him.

Wind, Earth, Water, Wood.

There was simply no deity in this world who could sever Hill’s connection with those four laws at once.

Fran glanced at the Wind Elemental happily flying up and down: ”He’s going to become Legendary?”

”After a while, after recovering the elemental power used in this split, Kais can become Legendary,” Hill said with a slight smile, ”Grandfather, now I am truly free. Even the Elves can only use some minor schemes to disgust me, right?”

Even the World Will could no longer easily use Hill.

If it were the current Hill, even if he stood beside the oak tree, the World Will might not send him in to awaken the White Wolf God.

To use someone like Hill, a Legendary of Laws, would require maneuvering too many law lines, and the World Will couldn’t afford that expenditure.

Fran nodded. After reaching Legendary and seeing the law lines, only then could one truly understand their own power.

The fate lines Hill was involved with were not many, making his path to Legendary easier than that of ordinary Mages.

Hill’s longstanding problem was how to enter that convergence point of law consciousness and find his own door.

Once found, the road to Legendary wouldn’t pose any problems for him.

The path of a Mage was hard because finding that door required understanding of world laws and deeper connections. But once found, to reach it required the fate lines tangled around one’s body not to be so heavy that one couldn’t take a step.

Many Mages dragged heavy shackles, gritting their teeth and moving forward step by step.

This required immense perseverance.

And because of Hill’s harmonious relationship with nature, he paid little attention to many things in the world.

He would gossip and find fun, but he did not remember these things in his heart; the past was left behind.

His friendliness and enthusiasm were superficial, treating everyone kindly also meant he cared little. The real Hill cared about very few things, and was cold-hearted and indifferent.

So Fran thought it would take Hill a long time to find this door, knowing his grandson seemed peaceful in temperament but was actually very proud.

If he couldn’t find his own door, he would never take a winding, twisted path that led to a dead end.

Hill’s eyes would only fixate on the furthest path in the starry sky that he could take.

While he could turn back, it would have to be his own choice, and only if he couldn’t continue forward.

Adrian suddenly laughed.

Fran and Hill both looked at him.

”That Gingko tree of His Majesty the King very much wants Hill’s Nature’s Blessing,” he laughed uncontrollably, ”I told him, the price to ask Hill for help is very high, let him discuss it with His Majesty the King. His Majesty seems to have agreed!”

Legendary Nature Warlock! Who knew, William might have to go mining himself again this time.

Hill also laughed: ”If he’s willing to pay, I am very willing to go. More money, nothing bad about that.”

Looking at Fran, Hill opened his mouth. He wanted to discuss world issues with Fran, but found he couldn’t voice it at all.

Fran seemed to understand Hill’s meaning and shook his head: ”Only by leaving this world can some things be discussed.”

He looked at Hill and said: ”Those documents might also contain things not suitable for Adrian to see.”

Hill glanced at Adrian, who was full of curiosity, and nodded: ”I understand.”

”Why did those Legendaries not feel anything?” Hill found it very strange.

”You wouldn’t think that all Legendaries could enter the starry sky, would you?” Fran couldn’t help but sneer, ”They’d be lucky to see the law lines. Without the door, they turn back upon encountering the law lines! A Legendary with only one law line doesn’t have the ability to enter the starry sky!”

Fran glanced at Hill: ”You wouldn’t think Carl and Miller are the weakest among the Legendaries, would you?”

He saw Hill’s nuanced expression and understood: ”They have both pushed open the door. Only after pushing it open, they were pulled back into the world, seeing nothing.

You don’t see Carl and Miller ever acting weak in front of the Mage Association!

They dared to stand behind His Majesty the King, completely ignoring the erratic behavior of the Mage Association, naturally because they were strong enough!

Those ordinary Legendaries in the Mage Association hadn’t even seen the door; they touched the line and were pulled back into the world. They could only stay in this world for life and could never think of leaving it!”

Hill lowered his head slightly, reflecting the pride in Fran’s words.

Other professions’ Legendaries might not even touch the law lines.

Adrian, full of curiosity, watched the two converse.

But he also understood that Hill said it was truly unspeakable rather than unsuitable to tell him.

That was the truth Fran always said must not be seen by Magisters—more than just shortcuts and the like.

Adrian felt that unless his life ended without finding the path to Legendary, he would never take that shortcut.

Hill managed to become a Legendary of Laws on his own, suppressing Earth Bear’s legacy.

He didn’t believe he couldn’t do it, only that he was still spinning before the door. Adrian felt his teacher wouldn’t have so little faith in his will.

But he later understood, knowing a shortcut existed and knowing exactly how to take it were two different things.

What if he took the wrong path while searching and mistook the shortcut for the right way?

If he took the shortcut thinking it was the right path, he’d have no one to cry to.

As for matters forbidden by the World Will for Legendaries to speak of, Adrian thought frankly, those had nothing to do with him; even if the heavens fell, it wasn’t his job to prop them up.

”Then I’ll discuss it further with His Majesty the King.” Adrian revealed a peculiar smile, ”That’s another price!”

Suddenly, a light rain started falling in Hill’s valley.

Soft water mist filled the sky, and then quietly turned into snowflakes.

Hill’s Water Elemental Chief ascended amid nature’s embrace.

The snow grew denser, quietly covering the entire valley.

Hill stood up and walked to the terrace.

If it were real snowflakes, they couldn’t possibly fall on the Magic Tower, yet at this moment, the terrace was buried in snow.

Without the bitter cold, Hill’s Water Elemental Lord probably had a mild temperament.

Hill smiled; the Water Elemental Chief transformed into a gigantic true form, their gaze fixed on Hill standing on the terrace: ”My name is Nielendi!”

Hill slightly nodded and greeted the lord: ”Congratulations on your ascension, Lord Nielendi.”
