Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 302: Chapter 105: The Vibrancy Brought by the Wood Elemental Lord

The relentless snowfall persisted for hours.

Hill observed the beautiful scene with keen interest.

With the flakes descending at dusk and flowers blossoming silver, illuminated by the clear moonlight, the sight was unbelievably beautiful.

The valley had witnessed heavy snowfall in the first two years after its formation.

But not since then.

The vibrant life force of the forest, the continuous flow of water, and the elemental power emitted by the magic array all caused the winter snow to melt very quickly.

This truly was a rare opportunity.

The ordinary animals in the valley had been disturbed by the Water Elemental Lord’s promotion, running about in panic, unable to comprehend why winter had suddenly arrived.

However, it wasn’t long before Nielendi cast a Divine Art he had learned from Hill: ”Tide Dance Moon Welcoming.”

The snow gradually turned into mist, carrying this life-restoring Water System Divine Art through the entire valley.

The small animals slowly stabilized and dispersed into the forest and grasslands.

Hill blinked, realizing that elements truly could learn unique Divine Arts from their contracted human partners! No wonder Nielendi had insisted Hill not contract with other Water Elemental Lords back then.

Hill glanced towards where the Earth Element Lord was, for the two of them, Hill’s Earth Magic should be easy to learn since it was just a combination of elemental runes.

Only the Water System Divine Art required some luck, after all, Hill couldn’t see the runes of this spell clearly to this day, hence he could only use it somewhat hazily.

Surveying the valley again, Hill sighed softly. The rabbits of this world were already quite large, but now in the valley, those whose promotions to mid-level magical beast had failed were almost as big as a large white pig.

Watching them thump off away from the still sleeping magical beasts and rush into the forest, Hill just hoped the magical beasts in the valley would maintain the ecological balance.

He also noticed the appearance of colorful rabbits, presumably those who had succeeded in their advancement; they were still asleep but had already shown vibrant colors, their fur emitting a faint glow.

Hill crossed his arms, estimating that the Undead Tribe, unable to find their desired magical beast, might choose to take home a pretty rabbit instead.

Mid-level rabbits were definitely something he had to send away, as he truly couldn’t afford to keep them!

They would devour all the turf available to them.

Hill shook his head and was about to return to speak with Fran when a sudden scent of plants overwhelmed the area.

Fran and Adrian couldn’t help but come out as well.

Humans had indeed never witnessed the advancement of a Wood Elemental Lord.

The sensation of burgeoning life was incredibly comforting.

Trees visibly grew, and grass sprouts burst through the soil, quickly reaching upward.

Hill lowered his gaze: Beneath the ground, he could feel the excitement of the World Tree Fragment—I it, too, had grown a bit.

The power of the Wood Element had a significant effect on the Goddess of the Earth’s divine artifact, making Hill even more certain that before the goddess fell into slumber, both wood and metal were included in the essence of the earth.

Hill wondered whether other Legendary Mages had this insight.

But those who had never seen the World Tree might not understand.

Just one glance at that artifact had told Hill all he needed to know.

The power of the Goddess of the Earth was not a singular element.

Metal and wood were originally part of the earth.

But after the goddess fell into slumber, and her divine artifacts were given up to support the world, the newly arrived elves and dwarves dealt her a heavy blow.

Hill truly did not know whether the Moon Elves that welcomed these two races did so willingly or out of necessity.

Given the stupidity of the Goddess of the Hunt, perhaps it was willingly? But considering how the Lord of the Moon Elves accommodated the Elven God King, it was probably because they could not fight back.

In fact, a person like the White Lotus could very accurately tell you who the most powerful person in her eyes was.

If the position of the Goddess of the Hunt was very strong and secure during that era, someone like the Lord of the Moon Elves would only help her rather than sacrifice her own power to bear children for a guy who had offspring all over the world.

Hill could only guess that back then, the Moon Elves were few in number and could only watch these foreign elves and dwarves run rampant.

So the Goddess of the Hunt became the chief deity of the Moon Elves because her foolishness made her no threat to others?

So at that time, had the wise Moon Elves hidden themselves away?

In doing so, the Moon Elves wouldn’t face extinction, just a slow death perhaps?

After all, the elves and dwarves weren’t mere invaders; they too wanted to survive in this world.

Unless absolutely necessary, they wouldn’t easily destroy a race naturally born and bred in this world.

And as time went on, the Moon Elves had become members of the Forest of the Elves; their children with the foreign elves slowly replaced these pure Moon Elves in standing, ensuring the survival of the Moon Elf race.

Hill recalled the large number of souls in the Moon Tree Seeds—given the lifespan of Moon Elves, there were far too many.

Moreover, aside from the Lord of the Moon Elves, no other Moon Elf had become a deity.

Did those of purer bloodline become Druids, finding excuses to head into the wilderness?

Although many had died, Hill remembered his seed pouch Divine Artifact.

Tens of thousands of years ago, when the foreign elves came, it certainly wasn’t as easy as they claimed.

So, should the words of the Goddess of the Hunt only be taken at face value?

While she was happily in love with the Elven God King, did other Moon Elves and foreign elves scheme against each other, suffering heavy casualties?

The Moon Elves must have collectively kept this naive goddess in the dark, and perhaps even the Lord of the Moon Elves knew more than her.

But this Lord of the Moon Elves, born a maid, did not choose her own race but opted for the more powerful Divine King instead.

That’s why so many Moon Elves have died.

She only needed to tell the Divine King which demigod Moon Elf didn’t want to stay in the Forest of the Elves and insisted on going to the wilderness, to cut off the Moon Elves’ retreat completely.

If there were only the foolish Goddess of the Hunt, perhaps the surviving demigod Moon Elves, seizing the chance when the True Gods were driven out of the world, could regain control of the Forest of the Elves!

Hill felt sure his judgment was correct, there must be a serious issue with that Lord of the Moon Elves and her daughter. Otherwise, why would the enlightened Goddess of the Hunt want to destroy their Divine Souls before she died? She clearly knew they were one of the main causes of the Moon Elves reaching this point.

That’s why she entrusted the Moon Tree to Hill.

She would rather bet on Hill, who bore the Elven Bloodline, not siding with the Elven God King than trust her former followers.

How sad!

No wonder Merkel, who had never met her, immediately called her a fool.

Probably many things are better known to the magical beasts with bloodline inheritance than to the Goddess of the Hunt.

So whether it’s the Moon Elves or the foreign Elven God King, both would tempt the Goddess of the Hunt to focus her attention on Silvermoon, which the Main God seemed to be sleeping off.

Blind to what’s happening on the ground, she naturally misunderstood many things.

After all, in face of this half-asleep world, Dwarves and Elves had to find a way to delay the awakening of those Natural Deities in order to become the true masters of this world.

And only the Goddess of the Earth, who could support the world with a Divine Artifact, was probably the strongest of the three deities.

Thus, Dwarves extracted gold from the Earth, and Elves extracted wood.

Literally turning the meaning of Earth into just soil.

That must be why, even as the day and moon are almost restored, the Earth remains oblivious, right?

But the World Will was only blinded for a while. For a planet, a few hundred thousand years isn’t that long. It would eventually come to its senses.

Perhaps, the ancient Moon Elves gambled on this chance, but a single Lord of the Moon Elves was enough to destroy all their waiting.

Hill silently sighed for these Moon Elves.

Many things, once seen in a broken world, are easily connected.

Just like the Elf Druids still remaining in the wilderness, they should be coming out soon, right?

Hill really wanted to know now, who told the Goddess of the Hunt that the Spirit of Nature’s deer wanted to reach for Silvermoon. Generally, wouldn’t a magical beast think of the position of Silvermoon Wolf God?

And who led the deer to the presence of Dwarf Deities and then to the sight of the Goddess of the Hunt?

This matter was malicious to Natural Consciousness.

For the Goddess of the Hunt, sliding into evil marked her loss of the position of Elf Chief God.

Only the Elf Druids, because of this, turned their faces from the Forest of the Elves and gained their freedom.

Hill pondered, only when this war was over, he might see the truth.

It won’t take long.

Under the World Will starting to see Dwarves and Elves as enemies, how long would their deities be able to control these two elements?

What would the Sun God and Goddess of the Silvermoon do once awakened to confront these faith-breakers and obstacles to world’s restoration, these exiles and invaders from outside the world?

They definitely wouldn’t spare them.

Hill didn’t know what the future would be like, but he understood one thing: regardless of whether the elves wanted to be enemies with humans, William would inevitably take action against them sooner or later.

In the Forest of the Elves, who knows how many Demigod Beasts there are? But their number seemed insubstantial enough to frighten William.

Just like William had said, the sea monsters would definitely love to add to their woes.

Moreover, Hill glanced again towards the direction of the fountain, where a little fellow awaited vengeance!

Hill turned to look at Adrian, who displayed a radiant smile, ”500 years.”

The life force brought by the advancement of the Wood Elemental Lord had surprisingly increased Adrian’s life by five hundred years.

For Adrian, who had not yet found the path to becoming legendary and was much younger than Hill, it must have been hard to watch.

But the significant increase in lifespan allowed Adrian to stabilize his emotions and not become too anxious.

”There are hardly any Wood Elemental Lords in the Forest of the Elves, and none are in the Elf King City,” Fran also felt that life force and couldn’t help saying, ”No wonder they search extensively every year for elves of the Nature System to appease the Wood Elemental Lords.”
