Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1096: Chapter 626: The Unexpected After the Group Photo

The annual gala is primarily to present some self-created awards to the guests, along with delivering an annual report for ”Victor.”

For ”Victor,” being a fashion magazine, it needs such an event to showcase its influence to the outside world.

The caliber and number of celebrities it can invite to its event, to some extent, prove its status in the fashion industry.

Therefore, it not only invites veteran artists like Sister Hongyu, but also top-tier artists like Ning Yao, Wei Ru Xue, Song Chi, Zhou Yun, as well as emerging stars like Gu Huaichun, Yu Sitian, and Lew Qingqing, who have starred in popular dramas over the past year.

The film and fashion industries have never been separate.

The model troupe led by Wen Xi is also participating without missing a single person.

This year, ”Victor” has indeed made remarkable progress.

Amidst the decline in physical magazine sales, it has surprisingly seen growth, and its online influence has also increased rapidly, with three magazine covers gaining significant influence, widely shared and praised by many fashion bloggers in Europe and America, one of which features Zhou Yun.

On the other hand, ”Victor’s” advertising revenue has reached a new high since its inception, with VX, Lizhou Cruise, and Jinling Jewelry investing more than ever, which is one reason why ”Victor” treats Zhou Yun with such attentiveness.

The wealthy sponsors are akin to parents, and the spokesperson for the sponsors is the Dynasty Ghost Girl.

Therefore, when Chief Editor Ren Sumin saw Zhou Yun and the others enter, she personally came to greet them.

”Sister Hongyu, Xiao Yun, Brother Chi, I’ve finally been waiting for you!” Ren Sumin’s smile was warm and bright, wholly different from the poker faces typically used by other fashion editors.

The artists who had just received a politely reserved smile could only lament their lower status upon witnessing this scene.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Ren Sumin personally led the three to their seats, marked with name tags, before excusing herself.

The treatment was considerate and sincere.

There were no fans or non-industry people inside the venue.

Everyone was engaged in conversations.

It was rare to have such an occasion to meet many familiar faces.

Yuk Chu and Wang Jing were seated right behind Zhou Yun, very close, and from the seating arrangements, you could see how much ”Victor” valued Zhou Yun, as her close friends were all seated around her. Wen Xi and Gu Huaichun were seated to her right, while Su Yan and Lew Qingqing were separated by several seats, a bit further away.

Such arrangements were thoughtful.

”How are you feeling now?” Zhou Yun asked Yuk Chu softly.

Yuk Chu’s pregnancy hadn’t been made public yet, and she was currently preparing for her wedding with Yin Zhou.

Yuk Chu said, ”I’m okay, just a bit nauseous from time to time, and I go to the bathroom more often than before, but other than that, not much else.”

”That’s good.”

Yuk Chu was about to finish her work, and this would be one of her final important tasks.

”Where’s Yin Zhou?” Zhou Yun asked.

Yuk Chu replied, ”He’s at home with his dad.”

”Then what are you and he planning to do in the future? Once you’re married, his family’s matters will also become yours,” Zhou Yun said.

Yuk Chu replied, ”I know, I’ve already talked to Yin Zhou about it, and he said his dad’s affairs don’t need my attention, and I should continue doing my own thing. After his dad found out about us, he was very happy; he’d thought he’d never see Yin Zhou get married and have children before he passed, but he didn’t expect it, and he said he feels very content.”

Zhou Yun laughed.

”I still can’t believe you’re about to become a mother.”

Yuk Chu said, ”Yes, it’s hard to believe, I never thought it would happen.”

”Have you... told your parents?” Zhou Yun asked.

Yuk Chu’s smile faltered for a moment. She lowered her head, paused briefly, then said, ”I just told them I was getting married.”

”Didn’t they... say anything? You’re getting married so hastily.”

”They didn’t agree.” Yuk Chu lifted her chin, ”I said it doesn’t matter, I wasn’t asking for their permission.”

Although Yuk Chu said this without any change in tone, Zhou Yun could almost imagine the regret and sadness Yuk Chu felt when she told her parents that.

”Did they not consult me before taking on all those gambling debts in secret?” Yuk Chu raised her chin defiantly.

Zhou Yun hugged Yuk Chu, gently patting her back twice.

”I’m fine.” Yuk Chu showed Zhou Yun a relieved smile.
