Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1066: Chapter 616: Trouble at the Banquet

Zhou Yun regretted asking that question as soon as she did.

She knew, among his peers in the industry, Song Chi had few friends.

But she had forgotten.

Song Chi had extensive connections and knew many people, so if he really needed help, he could easily get many people to assist him, but that would likely incur a favor.

This seemed somewhat counterproductive.

Zhou Yun was able to invite Wen Xi and Gu Huaichun, because she truly considered the two of them as real friends, with genuine emotions beyond mere interests.

However, Song Chi didn’t have such friends.

The path he took to fame was even more arduous and extraordinary, more talented and intimidating, making enemies on all sides.

Moreover, at that time, his agency, Zuo Jing, only wanted him to be a cash cow, rarely giving him personal space.

When others needed Song Chi’s help, he couldn’t help.

It wasn’t because he didn’t want to help, but his company restricted his ability to assist.

People believed Song Chi lacked loyalty and warmth.

Later, Song Chi managed to gain a significant level of speech power, reaching a status peers could hardly compare to.

People respected him greatly but were not close to him.

This is the situation Zhou Yun is now facing.

Song Chi had encountered it a long time ago.

Especially those young actors who debuted around the same time as Song Chi, how could they willingly bow their heads in front of him?

But Song Chi didn’t demand them to do so; the media environment and public opinion would expect them to.

The outcome was that people further distanced themselves from Song Chi.

Only someone like Gu Huaichun, who debuted a few years later, could naturally accept Song Chi’s high status, adjust his mindset, and even joke with Song Chi on stage.

Song Chi said to Zhou Yun, ”Originally, Sister Hongyu promised to come, and if she did, I wouldn’t need to invite others, but she couldn’t make it last minute, and you happened to be available, so I didn’t look for anyone else.”

Zhou Yun was stunned.

So Zhang Hongyu couldn’t make it last minute?

”Alright.” Zhou Yun said, ”I thought you couldn’t bring yourself to ask friends to support you.”

Song Chi touched Zhou Yun’s hair, smiling without saying more.

”Hello?”

Wen Xi answered a call, gesturing without speaking to indicate she needed to take the call aside.

Zhou Yun nodded.

Once Wen Xi left the table, there were only Song Chi and a few actors from the ”Mother” crew.

The actors from the ”Mother” crew were unfamiliar faces, especially those playing Zhang Hongyu’s son and daughter, who were teenagers.

They sat somewhat shyly among the crowd, their eyes curiously wandering, but too timid to speak.

Zhou Yun turned her gaze to them, smiled, and said, ”Today I wasn’t in front of the stage, I don’t know your names yet, can we get to know each other?”

The youngest, a fifteen-year-old girl with a delicate oval face, pursed her lips, her eyes bright.

She said, ”My name is Wen Zhi.”

”Are you currently in middle school?” Zhou Yun asked.

This girl looked very gentle, but had an elegant and poised demeanor.

Wen Zhi replied, ”I’m already in my first year of high school.”

Zhou Yun nodded and looked to the boy sitting to Wen Zhi’s right.

He was not tall, thin, initially not very handsome, but appeared lively and unreserved, when Zhou Yun’s gaze landed on him, he immediately spoke, ”Hello, Sister Xiao Yun, my name is Zhang Zeshan, I’m in my final year of high school, about to take college entrance exams.”

His smile was bright as sunshine.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Are you planning to apply to acting schools?”

Zhang Zeshan nodded, saying, ”My grades are too poor, acting schools are my only option.”

”The professional exams should be soon, right?”

”Yes, I’m currently attending training camp, today’s my only day off,” Zhang Zeshan’s words were smooth, ”Sister Xiao Yun, I really enjoy acting, would you mind mentoring me if there’s ever a chance?”

Such initiative.

Zhou Yun smiled and nodded, ”Sure, if there’s a suitable opportunity, I’ll bring you along to act, but why don’t you ask Brother Chi to act with you?”

Zhang Zeshan glanced at Song Chi, who was smiling lightly, shook his head, saying, ”Acting with the boss is too much pressure, he always critiques me.”

Zhou Yun was a bit surprised, looking at Song Chi, ”You’ve signed him?”

Song Chi whispered, ”I’ve signed all these kids.”

Zhou Yun nodded, saying, ”They all seem quite likable.”

Perhaps due to a fondness for what Song Chi liked, Zhou Yun felt a sense of closeness when looking at these young kids.
