Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1054: Chapter 612: Running Into Wei Heyun

After Zhou Yun and Jiang Yuzhen left the hospital room, they exited the hospital together and parted ways at the entrance, each getting into their own car.

”Didn’t meet the director?” Cao Jun, the driver, asked. ”Why so quick?”

”The director was sleeping, we didn’t want to disturb him, so we left for now,” Zhou Yun said. ”Cao Jun, I happen to have some free time this afternoon. Can you accompany me to a mall for a bit? The New Year is coming, and I want to see what gifts I can buy for everyone.”

Cao Jun agreed and quickly searched for a nearby large mall, then drove Zhou Yun over.

The clouds loomed heavily on the horizon, making the city appear quite oppressive.

This is an old city that Kang Xin took a long time to find as a filming location.

Unlike a metropolis like Beijing, this old city seems disconnected from the progress of time, still retaining the appearance of twenty years ago.

In the script for ”Chen Yin,” Chen Yin and her mother lived in a place like this.

Cao Jun drove around the city in circles but couldn’t find a suitable large mall.

Zhou Yun had no choice but to give up.

”Forget it, let’s go back to the hotel.”

Cao Jun nodded.

”This place is too small, there isn’t a large mall.”

Zhou Yun stared blankly out the car window.

Because of the cold weather, there were basically no people on the street.

Zhou Yun’s mind was empty, thinking of nothing, when suddenly a figure flashed before her eyes.

She was startled and came back to her senses.

”Brother Cao, pull over for a minute.”

Without a word, Cao Jun signaled and pulled over.

”Xiao Yun, what’s up?”

”I saw someone I know.” Zhou Yun lowered the car window and shouted, ”Wei Heyun!”

About five meters away, Wei Heyun was walking forward, wearing a black cotton jacket with his neck shrunk in.

Hearing someone calling his name, Wei Heyun initially thought he was hearing things.

In this deserted, remote city, how could anyone know him?

It wasn’t until he heard ”Wei Heyun” again that he realized it wasn’t a hallucination.

He stopped and looked back in the direction of the voice, then saw Zhou Yun sticking her head out of the car window.

”Zhou Yun?” Wei Heyun widened his eyes in surprise, smiling with some delight. He jogged to the car and asked, ”What brings you here?”

Zhou Yun said, ”I was about to ask you the same thing. What are you doing here? I’m here filming, decided to go for a walk today, and suddenly saw you on the road, like seeing a ghost.”

”Quit saying stuff like that,” Wei Heyun immediately snapped. ”I’m here checking out the scenery, just wandering around.”

”Scenery?” Zhou Yun questioned with a furrowed brow, ”What scenery?”

”Scouting for my next project.” Wei Heyun said, ”Your Brother Wei is making a comeback.”

Zhou Yun: ”...What are you planning to film this time?”

Wei Heyun directly opened the back door, motioned for Zhou Yun to move inside, and then sat in.

”This time I’ve found a youth suspense story, a web novel. I finished it overnight, it’s really good,” Wei Heyun said excitedly. ”The novel is called ’Youth Only Happens Once’. Have you read it?”

”I haven’t read it, but from what I know of web novels, any author daring enough to use such a name is a hero, aren’t they afraid of flopping?” Zhou Yun asked. ”Is it famous?”

”Not really famous, hardly any comments on it. It was recommended by a friend, who knew I was looking for good stories, and it’s really well written.” Wei Heyun was visibly thrilled while talking about it, clearly thinking the story was worth it. ”I’ve already contacted the author and bought the adaptation rights for the novel, and now I’ve hired a screenwriter to write the script.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”The script is still being written, so you haven’t found a director or actors yet?”

”The script isn’t even written yet, how can I?” Wei Heyun said, ”I’m just a small operation, not some big company. I can’t lure people in with just a concept.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Do you have any plans? I’m telling you, well-known directors and somewhat famous actors have their schedules filled for the next year. If you don’t book them in advance, you won’t be able to get them when it’s time to cast.”

Wei Heyun said, ”Please, with my small outfit, I can’t hire any famous directors or actors, at most the entire cast will be new faces.”

”Huh? Why?”

”Limited budget,” Wei Heyun said. ”Although my last two projects didn’t lose money, they didn’t make much either. At least in the eyes of those platforms, the return rate isn’t high, so they’re not willing to give me the go-ahead for big investments. After all, I’m just a small workshop. They prefer those big production companies with whom they have a long-term relationship to do big projects. Isn’t it the same for you actors when you choose scripts? Even if a script is well-written, if the producer is unreliable, you wouldn’t take it. In their eyes, I’m just an unreliable producer right now.”
