Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1073: Chapter 618: Where There Is Division, There Is Union_2

”Don’t donate to the Little Star Foundation anymore,” Zhou Yun said. ”I don’t have a good feeling about this foundation.”

”Huh?” Zheng Xiaojue blinked in confusion. ”Is it because those two people showed up late at night without any prior notice to find us?”

”Xiaoju, don’t you find those two people suspicious?”

”Huh?” Zheng Xiaojue hadn’t caught on yet.

”First, they come to ask for our help without any prior contact or official communication. They directly come to me. Originally, the donation was arranged by Sister Lan’s team, so how come they could directly approach me for help?”

”Second, my schedule today was arranged last minute. How did they know which hotel I was staying at today and manage to corner me directly?”

”Third, don’t you think it’s odd? I donated money to them, yet they expect me to endorse their cause? They ambiguously say they hope to leverage my influence for more donations but don’t mention which places or children the donations help. When we discuss film projects with directors or actors, we need comprehensive project proposals, right? Did they bring any documents?”

Zheng Xiaojue suddenly realized.

”Are they frauds? But their pictures are indeed on the foundation’s official website.”

”They may not be frauds, but I don’t trust them,” Zhou Yun said. ”Anyway, let’s not get involved with the Little Star Foundation anymore.”

”Okay, I understand.”

...

Early next morning, Zhou Yun freshened up briefly and set off on her return journey.

The coordinator sent a message that Director Kang would be discharged today and filming would resume tomorrow.

Zhou Yun shared the news with Zheng Xiaojue, saying, ”We can restart filming now; we’ve only missed two days. Luckily, it wasn’t delayed for longer.”

”Yes,” Zheng Xiaojue replied. ”Sister Lan has been really worried about the filming delays affecting future work.”

Zhou Yun suddenly remembered something.

Zhou Lan had mentioned that yesterday was the day the Berlin International Film Festival announced its lineup, and she wondered if ”Falling Leaves” had not been selected.

No news had come in so far.

She quickly took out her phone to search for updates.

Indeed, Berlin International Film Festival had released the lineup yesterday, including the main competition entries, and ”Falling Leaves” was not among them.

Not only was it absent from the main competition entries, but it was missing from all other sections as well.

Zhou Yun was quite surprised.

This year’s Berlin International Film Festival didn’t feature a single Chinese-language film.

Zhou Yun called Zhou Lan.

”Sister Lan, I’ve seen the Berlin International Film Festival lineup, ’Falling Leaves’ wasn’t selected,” Zhou Yun inquired. ”But earlier, you mentioned that even if it didn’t make the main competition, it would be in another section. Why don’t I see it?”

Zhou Lan sighed, ”I noticed you were really busy yesterday and didn’t get a chance to tell you. Originally, the film was planned for a special screening, but Luo Qi wouldn’t agree. They didn’t want ’Falling Leaves’ in the main lineup, and Luo Qi felt the film deserved better treatment. The negotiations fell through, so she withdrew the film.”

”I see,” Zhou Yun said. ”What’s Sister Luo Qi planning next?”

Zhou Lan said, ”She’s contacting other film festivals. I think she still wants to send the film to a festival.”

Zhou Yun didn’t think ”Falling Leaves” absolutely had to enter the main competition, but she could understand Luo Qi’s perspective.

Without ”Behind the Scenes,” none of this would be mentioned, but now that Xue Qin is no longer a newcomer and the cast includes a big celebrity like Zhou Yun, Luo Qi surely wouldn’t settle for the film just being part of a special screening at the festival.

Returning to the crew, Zhou Yun first visited Kang Xin at the hospital.

Last time she went to the hospital with Jiang Yuzhen, Kang Xin was asleep. This time he was discussing the details of the upcoming shoots with several people.

Kang Xin was lying in bed, with the headboard elevated, surrounded by other crew members.

”Xiao Yun is here.”

Someone with sharp eyes noticed Zhou Yun at the hospital door.

Zhou Yun smiled and walked in.

”Director, are you feeling better today?”
