Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1069: Chapter 617: A Toast to You All

Zheng Xiaojue and Zhang Zeshan’s retort was loud and clear.

Just then, Wu Chengbao came back from outside the restaurant. Seeing the situation inside, he was dumbfounded, not knowing what had happened. He pulled someone over to understand the situation, then slapped his forehead.

Damn, what the hell is this?

Wu Chengbao glanced disdainfully at the drunken actor, pushed through the crowd, and walked into the center.

Just as he was about to speak, Brother Hu suddenly burst into laughter and said, ”What are you two talking about? Nine out of ten of these female celebrities are not clean. Why are you defending her like that? Even Song Chi hasn’t said a word!”

”Shut the hell up!” Wu Chengbao glared at him, ”What are you all doing? Get him out of here to sober up! His brain turned to mush after drinking, full of pig shit!”

Facing someone as influential as Wu Chengbao, Brother Hu instinctively showed some fear.

But being reprimanded in front of so many people, spurred on by the alcohol, Brother Hu couldn’t swallow this insult.

”Wu Chengbao, don’t you fucking think just because you’re the producer—” he was cut off, his mouth covered and dragged away.

Only then did Wu Chengbao turn to Zhou Yun and say, ”Xiao Yun, I’m sorry for what happened, it must have scared you. He was just drunk and speaking without thinking. Don’t take it to heart.”

Zhou Yun smiled faintly, shook her head, indicating she wasn’t bothered.

She recalled what she had heard previously.

She realized that if she didn’t respond publicly, people would continue to gossip behind her back.

These rumors could hurt her, and that was fine. They weren’t connected to her anyway, but these words could affect Song Chi.

In this kind of societal environment, if a man is cuckolded, it somewhat brings disrespect.

Zhou Yun didn’t want Song Chi to be affected like that.

She collected herself, turned to Zheng Xiaojue, and said, ”Xiaoju, could you get me a clean cup?”

Zheng Xiaojue went off immediately.

Zhou Yun glanced at Zhang Zeshan, who had just stood up for her, and said, ”Xiao Shan, could you please bring over the wine on the table?”

Zhang Zeshan hesitated but went to get it.

Everyone looked at Zhou Yun, puzzled, not knowing what she intended to do.

Everyone exchanged glances.

Wu Chengbao also didn’t know what Zhou Yun was planning, watching her in confusion.

He lowered his voice, ”Xiao Yun, what are you doing?”

At this moment, Zheng Xiaojue and Zhang Zeshan returned with the wine and clean cup.

Zhou Yun took them, poured half a cup of wine, raised it, looked at everyone, and said, ”Earlier someone reminded me that I hadn’t toasted everyone yet. Thinking about it, they’re right. Everyone worked so hard on ’Mother’, and have been busy until today. It wasn’t easy. I must toast to everyone, and also congratulate everyone, our hard work is about to bear fruit!”

The crowd looked at each other, not knowing Zhou Yun’s intentions.

But Zhou Yun drank it all, and after a two-second pause, Wu Chengbao was the first to applaud, saying, ”Great! Xiao Yun is really awesome!”

Led by the producer, everyone then started to applaud.

Zhou Yun smiled, handed the cup to Zheng Xiaojue, and continued smiling, ”Everyone knows I was supposed to attend the press conference with you all today, but before it started, someone online exposed me supposedly having a date with another man, stirring up a lot of discussion online. To not affect the smooth progress of the press conference, Song Chi and I discussed and decided not to attend. However, I hope everyone doesn’t think it’s because we were affected by these rumors and untrue stories, causing issues between us. I like Song Chi very much, he is my boyfriend, and I am his girlfriend. We are dating, but we each have our own work and social circles, so it’s inevitable for photos like last night’s to be taken. But Song Chi and I fully trust each other, and I hope everyone isn’t swayed by these voices.”

”No, no, why would we? That person was obviously Wei Heyun, we all know each other.” Wu Chengbao said.

Zhou Yun nodded, ”I also frequently receive anonymous messages telling me Song Chi is close to some woman or similar messages. I know many think I was too intimate with some man and that Song Chi was deceived by me. If others say that, there’s nothing I can do, nor do I wish to explain anything to them, because at the end of the day, it’s Song Chi and I who are dating, and this matter concerns no one but us. However, since everyone here today works with Song Chi, others’ misunderstandings might not affect much, but if you misunderstand, it would affect him and his work, so I urge everyone not to privately spread and discuss these rumors, especially those based purely on speculation without evidence.”
