Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1090: Chapter 624: The Person Who Knows You Best

Since Zhou Yun was the finale, the departure time was a bit later, allowing more time for preparation.

She had a premonition that something was bound to stir up tonight.

With so many people in the publicity period, everyone wanted to grab the headlines. Where there’s competition, there’s conflict. Plus, among today’s attendees, many have old and new grudges.

Just hoping no one will deliberately delay and refuse to step onto the red carpet today.

If anyone does that, it will waste their own time, as Zhou Yun and the others are walking as the finale tonight. If others don’t finish, they can’t walk.

Zhou Yun got her makeup and hair done and met with Song Chi and Zhang Hongyu at the hotel.

Zhang Hongyu wore a burgundy wrap dress today, highlighting her graceful figure, looking elegant and classy.

Zhou Yun warmly hugged the others and said, ”Sister Hongyu, I’ve been following ’Mother’ every day recently, it’s so good! Zhang Zeshan’s portrayal of the son is so irritating, sometimes when I see you get angry, I just wish I could smack him a couple of times.”

Zhang Hongyu laughed and said, ”Who isn’t? I wanted to smack him a couple of times when we were filming.”

’Mother’ already aired its current episode today, with ratings rising from 0.7 at the debut to 0.9, a significant increase. However, compared to the soon-to-end ’Dragon Ascending’ and the progressively better ’Linjiang Immortal’, there’s still quite a gap.

Especially in terms of buzz, ’Mother’ lacks online popularity, unlike ’Linjiang Immortal’, which has at least three trending searches online every day.

The main issue is ’Mother’ doesn’t have enough celebrities, with Zhang Hongyu being the only well-known one.

Song Chi’s company and Chestnut Video purchased trending searches for Zhang Hongyu, but due to the storyline, it’s hard to create buzz, and the conversion rate is low.

Yet, compared to industry expectations, this performance is much better, as everyone predicted ’Mother’ would completely flop.

Recently, Song Chi and Zhou Yun have been asking friends to promote ’Mother’ on their social media, creating an atmosphere that they too are following the show.

Song Chi didn’t want everyone to promote ’Mother’ at once, as he felt this promotional method wasn’t suitable for the show.

If a dozen celebrities promoted ’Mother’ simultaneously, it could create a buzz. But ’Mother’ isn’t a show that can attract viewers through buzz.

It requires a slow build, relying on word of mouth to gain traction.

The reviews for ’Mother’ were unsurprisingly high.

With themes of humanity, mother-son relationships, the triviality of life, and insights into life.

’Mother’ did well in these aspects, and Zhang Hongyu delivered an outstanding performance.

But attaching ”great acting” to Zhang Hongyu wouldn’t pique anyone’s interest, as that’s a given.

In contrast, Lew Qingqing’s performance in ’Heart Palpitating’ received unanimous praise from film bloggers, drawing many viewers to the show.

This is because Lew Qingqing wasn’t previously associated with great acting, so when someone praised her performance, people were curious to see just how good it was.

Contrast sparks curiosity.

This is somewhat regrettable.

Before heading to the red carpet of the annual event ’Victor’, Song Chi arranged for a fashion blogger with millions of followers to interview him and Zhang Hongyu at the hotel.

Both parties benefit.

The fashion blogger could get an exclusive interview with Song Chi and Zhang Hongyu, and in return Song Chi and Zhang Hongyu would use this blogger’s interview to promote ’Mother’.

Zhou Yun sat off-camera, watching the whole time.

As expected, the blogger wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to interview a big star like Zhou Yun, turning the camera towards her and saying, ”Darlings, guess who this is? While we were interviewing Song Chi and Zhang Hongyu, our Xiao Yun has been supervising from the side.”

Zhou Yun waved at the camera with a smile.

”Remember to watch ’Mother.’” She made a heart shape towards the camera.

After finishing the interview, the three prepared to leave the hotel.

The red carpet at the venue had already started; it would be just the right time when they arrived.

Zheng Xiaojue sat together with Song Chi’s assistant, Zhang Cong.

The two were chatting non-stop.

Zheng Xiaojue asked Zhang Cong, ”Do you think anyone will cause drama on the red carpet tonight?”

Zhang Cong said, ”There most definitely will be. With such a prime opportunity here, if you think they won’t stir up anything, you’re underestimating them.”
