Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1083: Chapter 621: What Did You Say? (3)

The Sundance Film Festival is a world-famous festival dedicated to independent films, focusing on low-budget, independently-produced films.

”Falling Leaves” happens to be such a film.

Zhou Yun’s fans, after experiencing the initial backlash, entered into a celebratory frenzy.

The only regret for the fans was that the Sundance Film Festival doesn’t award acting prizes, meaning Zhou Yun couldn’t compete for the Movie Queen title at this festival.

However, being shortlisted this time proved the quality of the film ”Falling Leaves,” and not as the rumor-mongers suggested, that the film was rejected by the Berlin International Film Festival due to Zhou Yun’s poor acting.

Meanwhile, as if by agreement, the next day, the United States Golden Globe Awards announced this year’s nomination list.

Zhou Yun surprisingly secured a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy with ”Behind the Scenes.”

The entire entertainment industry was in an uproar upon the announcement of this nomination.

...

Su Yan and Xu Siyao were standing backstage waiting to go on. They were participating in a promotional event for ”Linjiang Immortal,” about to take the stage.

The two had been stepping on each other fiercely lately, both during their promotional periods, neither yielding to the other. To be precise, it was Xu Siyao who was not yielding to Su Yan, with drafts praising Xu Siyao’s superior acting flying everywhere, infuriating Su Yan.

Su Yan recently got to witness Xu Siyao’s tactics.

Previously, she had confidently told her agent that no matter how scheming Xu Siyao was, they were not on the same level in terms of status, and she didn’t take Xu Siyao seriously.

Little did she know, Xu Siyao was someone even Zhou Yun found more overwhelming than a sticking plaster.

”All that effort for nothing, huh,” Su Yan mocked, ”You spent all that time trying to blacken Zhou Yun, and it all came to nothing.”

Xu Siyao glanced coldly at Su Yan and said, ”What are you pretending to be so pure for? You didn’t make a move? I couldn’t possibly have such capability alone to stir up such a big storm.”

Su Yan smiled, ”Unlike you, I have no reason to compete with Zhou Yun. It’s you who has always wanted to step on her to rise, but look how she’s getting better and better, and you?”

”Me?” Xu Siyao blinked her eyes, smiled coyly, and said, ”Am I not doing well? I’m acting as a co-lead with Sister Su Yan now.”

What Xu Siyao meant was that regardless of how well she was doing, she could at least be put on par with Su Yan.

Su Yan was momentarily speechless.

She intended to mock Xu Siyao but ended up being retorted.

”Co-lead? How dare you say that? Who told you it’s a co-lead show?” Su Yan stepped forward toward Xu Siyao, ”I’m the lead actress, you’re the supporting actress. My name is first on the cast list, make no mistake about it. You can’t really think you can be my equal, huh? Have you had a leading role that’s become more popular? Speaking of which, from ’Eighth Heartbeat’ to ’Dingfengbo,’ the only two plays people remember you from had Zhou Yun as the lead, and you were just a supporting actress. Of course, you’re lucky, born with a supporting role fate. Now you’re playing the second lead in ’Linjiang Immortal,’ and it’s popular again. I should say, stop bothering with acting as a lead, as I said before, you’re born to play supporting roles.”

Xu Siyao was infuriated by Su Yan’s mocking words, her face looked unpleasant.

But she soon concealed her unpleasant expression.

”No need to mock me here. I’ve only been in the industry for two years. What’s wrong with becoming popular as a supporting actress?” Xu Siyao said, ”How many more years can you stay popular?”

Su Yan: ”Still more years than you will.”

”That’s not for sure,” Xu Siyao smirked coldly, ”Besides, what’s wrong with supporting roles? Although you are the lead in ’Heart Inquiry,’ who would say the supporting role played by Zhou Yun was weaker than yours? When acting in ’Heart Inquiry,’ your acting was overshadowed by Zhou Yun, and in ’Linjiang Immortal,’ your acting is again overshadowed by me. Why do you get overshadowed so easily? Is it because being the lead makes you feel it’s okay to have poor acting skills?”

Su Yan glared, ”You!”

Just then, a staff member suddenly exclaimed, ”Wow, Zhou Yun got a Golden Globe Best Actress nomination!”

Her voice was loud due to surprise, and everyone around heard it.

Su Yan and Xu Siyao both turned to look at the staff member simultaneously, eyes intense as if sparks were flying out.

”What did you say?!” they said in unison.

The staff member looked up, seeing the eyes of Su Yan and Xu Siyao, inexplicably feeling a wave of nervousness.

She didn’t know why, but these two women’s looks somehow reminded her of two tigers with their jaws wide open.
