Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 299: Chapter 261: Rising Period: 97

Zhou Yun thought of her own experience last year.

Late at night, she heard someone using a room card to swipe her door, but because it couldn’t open, the card reader repeatedly made the sound of a failed recognition.

That time, she too, frantically went to the hotel for help but to no avail, the matter was left unresolved.

Zhou Yun could never have imagined that Wang Jing would also encounter such a thing.

”Thankfully she was just in the restroom, a stroke of luck in that unfortunate situation. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if someone had entered her room while she was asleep.” Zhou Lan’s eyebrows were tightly furrowed, a harshness condensed between them, ”But it’s strange to say, Wang Jing hasn’t appeared on camera much up until now, basically still a newcomer. There really shouldn’t be any stalkers or sasaeng fans following her.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Anyway, the person has been caught, and whatever purpose they had for breaking in, there will be an answer.”

She said, ”This matter must not be settled privately. If that person’s room card really was provided by someone from this hotel, then they should bear the responsibility, down to the last bit.”

Zhou Lan nodded.

Zhou Yun said, ”In this state, can Wang Jing still record ’Geology Talk’?”

”I’ll ask her in a bit. If she doesn’t want to continue, I’ll communicate with the production team,” Zhou Lan said.

Zhou Yun nodded.

The young girl Wang Jing obviously had more strength than they had anticipated. She didn’t plan on giving up this recording opportunity and even turned back to say to Zhou Lan, ”Sister Lan, I’m fine, I can record.”

Zhou Lan touched her face and said, ”Don’t push yourself too hard. There are many opportunities to record programs in the future. If you really feel you are not up to it, it’s okay to skip this time.”

Wang Jing shook her head and even managed a smile, saying, ”I can do it.”

The guests of ’Geology Talk’ all stayed at the same hotel, and the news spread to their ears, evoking a sense of sympathetic concern.

Even Su Yan, meeting Wang Jing, patted her shoulder and gave her a hug as a gesture of comfort.

Wang Jing’s performance also pleasantly surprised Zhou Yun. Privately, Wang Jing seemed like a rather quiet girl, but in front of the camera, she immediately became lively and cheerful. Whether adhering to the script of the production team by playing the fool or participating in physical games, she agreed without any objections.

Zhou Yun, watching from the sidelines, greatly admired this quality in Wang Jing.

After recording the program, both of them were actually tired, but Wang Jing still made a special trip to thank the director and the crew.

Was this action a bit deliberate?

Somewhat deliberate.

But such deliberateness wouldn’t bother anyone.

Attitudes are for showing.

Zhou Yun murmurs while drinking half a bottle of water, waiting especially for Wang Jing to return from giving thanks, then handed her a bottle of water and joined her in the car back to the hotel.

Wang Jing was flattered.

Back at the hotel, Zhou Yun encountered Zhou Lan wearing a stern expression in the lobby.

Looking at Zhou Lan’s expression, she knew that something serious had happened, but didn’t know whether it was related to Wang Jing or to herself.

Wang Jing, seeing Zhou Lan waiting for them in the hotel lobby, showed a surprised expression, shouting, ”Sister Lan!”

Zhou Lan gave her a slight smile and said, ”Xiao Jing, go have your meal first. I need to speak with your Sister Xiao Yun for a moment, I’ll join shortly.”

Wang Jing obediently acknowledged and nodded.

Zhou Yun said to Zheng Xiaojue and Xiao Cao, ”You go ahead too, no need to wait for me.”

After everyone left, Zhou Lan and Zhou Yun walked towards a corner.

”What’s happened?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan disclosed, ”The police have informed us that the man who broke into Wang Jing’s room last night, his target wasn’t Wang Jing, but you.”

Hearing this, Zhou Yun felt a chill throughout her body.

”Me?” she exclaimed in astonishment.

A cold shiver shot from her feet to her head.

Zhou Lan said, ”He wanted to go to your room, but since Wang Jing came with me, the front desk registration was also done with me. Both of you are my artists; that person only knew the room Wang Jing was staying in had one of my artists, so he assumed it was you.”

Zhou Yun was momentarily lost for words.

Her throat felt dry.

”The police investigated, and this person came on the same flight as me to Hainan, following me all the way,” Zhou Lan said with a grim expression, ”He didn’t check into this hotel. How he got that room card, he hasn’t explained yet. The hotel checked all its spare room cards and none were missing; the police suspect he somehow hacked into the hotel’s internal network and cloned a card.”

Zhou Yun hugged herself, furrowing her brows tightly.

”Sister Lan, why would that person want to sneak into my room?”

Zhou Lan explained, ”He admitted to the police that he is a fan of yours, has admired you for a long time, and thus wanted to see what you looked like while sleeping.”

Zhou Yun, her face cold, listened silently.

Her expression clearly showed she didn’t believe this explanation.

Zhou Lan mentioned, ”I thought of what you experienced last year.”

Zhou Yun nodded, adding, ”Me too.”

”We don’t know yet if it was the same person as last year,” Zhou Lan continued, ”I have already discussed last year’s incident with the police, asking them to investigate. Don’t worry, I will make sure this matter is clearly resolved.”

Zhou Yun bit her lip, ”He hasn’t shown up for a long time, nor has he sent any messages; I thought he had disappeared and wouldn’t appear again.”

”Fortunately, this time the person was caught. If it turns out to be him, we’ll know who it is, and we can feel more secure. Otherwise, it’s always like a time bomb in our hearts, unsettling,” Zhou Lan reassured, ”Tonight, I’ll stay with you.”

Zhou Yun managed a wry smile.

”Even staying in a hotel is so unsafe.”

Zhou Lan suggested, ”From now on, we should opt for even more upscale hotels. If the production team books this kind of hotel again, we’ll just find another place to stay.”

Zhou Yun sighed.

Zhou Lan patted Zhou Yun’s head, ”Don’t be afraid, I won’t let you get hurt.”

”Thank you, Sister Lan.”

”I won’t tell Wang Jing about this for now, to avoid her overthinking,” Zhou Lan added, ”This child also suffered undeserved calamity.”

”It’s me who has implicated her,” Zhou Yun said, ”I feel quite sorry for her.”

”It’s not your fault, but the intruder’s,” Zhou Lan responded, ”But if you feel guilty, you can always give her a boost in the future. After spending a day recording with her, how do you find her?”

”I really like her; she has a good personality.”

Zhou Lan smiled, ”I also think her personality will be her most useful charm in the entertainment industry.”

When they arrived at the restaurant, they saw Wang Jing already sitting with the staff of ’Geology Talk’, chatting and laughing, fully integrated into the group. This scene reminded them of their earlier comments about Wang Jing, leading them to exchange a knowing smile.
