Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 262: Chapter 224: Rising Phase: 60

When I was in school, there was a widely circulated saying: If no one offends me, I won’t offend anyone; if someone offends me, I will eliminate them completely.

Where this saying originated from, I no longer remember. But Zhou Yun has always remembered this saying. It’s not particularly kind or beautiful, but it truthfully reflects a person’s most authentic attitude and inner feelings.

Zhou Yun didn’t want to have a conflict with Xu Siyao, quarrel, or fight like two madwomen.

But Xu Siyao made it clear that she wouldn’t let her go; she insisted on taking a bite out of her. Zhou Yun was no Buddha, compassionate enough to do something like self-sacrifice to the extent of feeding her flesh to eagles.

She believed in the miracle of changing people’s hearts, but she knew she didn’t have the capability to change others.

Therefore, Zhou Yun had no intention of sitting back and waiting for doom.

If Xu Siyao was set on being her enemy, then there was no point in Zhou Yun continuing to tolerate her.

After hearing about Zhou Yun’s intentions from Zheng Xiaojue, Zhou Lan called Zhou Yun right away.

She asked, ”How did she provoke you? Are you really going to do this? This isn’t like your usual self.”

Zhou Yun said, ”She’s just short of stepping on my nose to provoke me.”

”This girl, she’s really not a pushover.” Zhou Lan actually had already heard the whole story from Zheng Xiaojue. However, something was always lost in relay, and now seeing Zhou Yun’s strong reaction, one could imagine how excessive Xu Siyao had been. Not many people could make Zhou Yun this angry.

Zhou Lan said, ”But by doing this, you’re dragging Li Ci down too.”

When Zhou Yun heard this, she hesitated.

Zhou Lan said, ”I’m all for you going after Xu Siyao, but do we really have to involve others?”

Zhou Yun’s previous idea was actually quite simple. Spread some rumors about Xu Siyao and Li Ci, claiming that there was something ambiguous between the two during the filming of ”Dingfengbo” and that they were often seen coming and going together. Such rumors didn’t need evidence; just scattering some hint and insinuation was enough to enrage Li Ci’s fans, who would then collectively attack Xu Siyao.

Zhou Yun had been through this.

Since Xu Siyao dared to fake a fall on the red carpet, grabbing the hand that Li Ci extended, and captured the attention of everyone.

Then, let her reap the consequences.

That was Zhou Yun’s thought.

But Zhou Lan reminded Zhou Yun.

After all, this matter had nothing to do with Li Ci; it was a grudge between Zhou Yun and Xu Siyao.

Zhou Yun came back to her senses and felt she should pull back from the brink.

”Forget it, you’re right, I shouldn’t involve other people.” Zhou Yun sighed, ”Sister Lan, do you have any good ideas?”

”A good idea?” Zhou Lan asked, ”You mean, how to suppress Xu Siyao?”

Zhou Yun originally wanted to say, not to suppress Xu Siyao. But after thinking it over, she felt, let it be that. Why beautify her actions? She simply didn’t want Xu Siyao to one day become more famous or better than her.

Zhou Yun said, ”Yes.”

Zhou Lan said, ”That’s simple, aren’t the two of you filming the same movie? Don’t forget, you are the leading lady.”

Zhou Yun had never flaunted her status as the protagonist or a popular celebrity.

She was always a calm and rational person, her rare romanticism and impulsiveness reserved for another person.

But Zhou Yun would never allow herself to become a passive Holy Mother.

If a threat is already knocking at your door, the only thing you need to do is to take out your gun and keep the threat outside your home.

On the set.

Zhou Yun had finished a scene and was chatting with Lei Zheng on the side.

Lei Zheng asked, ”Have you received systematic acting training?”

”No.” Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”I wasn’t trained in acting, I became an actor by chance.”

Lei Zheng nodded. ”Being an actor doesn’t necessarily require a professional background. It’s good for actors to come from all over, but if you want to pursue acting further, you will definitely need to systematically study acting. I guess a lot of people have told you that you are a talented actor.”

Zhou Yun felt somewhat shy, bowing her head and smiling, not quite used to accepting compliments—as is the Chinese custom of modesty.

”Don’t feel embarrassed. What I’m trying to tell you is not to waste your talent. Talent is so important for an actor. Having that certain something in acting makes all the difference. But talent alone is far from enough. Every year, a lot of talented actors pop up, only to vanish just as quickly. They might not have the same opportunities as you, nor do they have enough time to accumulate experience. Studying acting systematically doesn’t necessarily mean taking an acting class or anything like that, but it means systematically summarizing and learning things that can truly become your skills, instead of starting from scratch each time and relying solely on muscle memory and accumulated experience.”

Lei Zheng was speaking from the heart.

Zhou Yun understood clearly.

”Mr. Lei, what are you telling Sister Xiao Yun? Why don’t you share such good advice with me too?” Xu Siyao made an unwelcome appearance, belting out with a loud voice as if Lei Zheng really played favorites.

Lei Zheng, being a senior figure, naturally didn’t deign to argue with a junior.

He just snorted with amusement and said nothing more.

This time, Zhou Yun no longer held back. She said to Lei Zheng, ”Mr. Lei, I hope to receive more guidance from you in the future. Since we are being disturbed now, I’ll come ask again another time.”

After saying that, she acted as if Xu Siyao was invisible, sitting down in her chair without a sideways glance, leaning back lazily.

In front of everyone, Zhou Yun’s attitude was tantamount to openly slapping Xu Siyao’s face—Xu Siyao, who kept calling Zhou Yun ”Sister Xiao Yun”.

The gazes of the people around them crossed between the two.

Zhou Yun, who never embarrassed others in public, crossed her legs, picked up the script, and started to read it as if no one else was there.

Lei Zheng smiled thoughtfully and left as well.

Xu Siyao didn’t gain any advantage and was put in her place, her face darkened.

That afternoon, after finishing filming, Xu Siyao asked her assistant to get some food and bring it to her resting room.

She returned to her resting room with a grim expression.

”What’s going on with Xu Siyao and Zhou Yun?” Suddenly, a voice came from behind a backdrop.

Xu Siyao immediately stopped in her tracks. She frowned and turned to look.

Who was gossiping behind her?

Another person’s voice was a bit low, as if afraid of being overheard.

But the person speaking seemed unaware that someone had already heard.

”Keep your voice down, don’t you know about them? I’ve heard that the two of them have been at odds for a while.” The person whispered, ”I’m telling you, be careful, don’t get on their bad side. If you bump into their line of fire, you’ll definitely be the unlucky one.”

”No, what’s the situation between the two of them? Tell me.”
