Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 294: Chapter 256: Rising Phase: 92

Saturday, Song Chi specially reserved a place to treat Zhou Yun’s team to dinner.

Zhou Yun’s team is growing, but the private core still consists of Zhou Lan, Zheng Xiaojue, and Xiao Cao. Agent, assistant, driver. These three control all the big and small matters around Zhou Yun; anyone or anything that wants to get close to her has to go through them. After more than a year of being together, Zhou Yun has grown familiar, close, and trusting towards them.

The fact that Zhou Yun and Song Chi were dating could be hidden from others, but not from them. It was impossible to hide.

When Zheng Xiaojue and Xiao Cao learned that Zhou Yun and Song Chi were officially together, their reactions were not very big.

Zheng Xiaojue had an ”I knew it all along” expression and said, ”Finally.”

Her calmness made Zhou Yun feel incredulous, who asked, ”Why are you so composed?”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Oh, I always felt that you two would definitely end up together.”

Zhou Yun widened her eyes, ”But we weren’t really together before.”

”It was bound to happen sooner or later,” Zheng Xiaojue confidently stated, ”Anyone who sees how you two interact wouldn’t think you had no feelings for each other. Even a child could tell, no, even a child would have noticed.”

Zhou Yun felt humiliated.

”...”

They arrived at the ”I Love Bill” restaurant and were led by the waiter into a private room.

Song Chi was already waiting in the room with a man Zhou Yun was seeing for the first time.

Zhou Yun glanced at him curiously; he nodded and smiled at her slightly. He looked to be in his early forties from his appearance, but was very well-maintained. Dressed in a suit, with thick, black hair, he exuded an elite demeanor.

”This is my partner and agent, Wu Chengbao,” Song Chi introduced to Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun immediately smiled and said, ”Hello Mr. Wu, I am Zhou Yun.”

She reached out her hand.

Wu Chengbao shook her hand, saying, ”Miss Zhou.”

Everyone sat down.

Song Chi said, ”This is our first time dining together, and we will surely have many more such meals in the future. Regardless, Zhou Yun and I would like to ask everyone for their support.”

He raised his glass and sincerely toasted everyone.

Xiao Cao and Zheng Xiaojue, who hadn’t seen Song Chi’s personal side and were used to dealing with imperious celebrities, suddenly felt flattered and apprehensive.

This was the official announcement.

Halfway through the meal, Wu Chengbao said, ”When ’Heart Inquiry’ airs, one issue is that in the show you two play a couple who love but cannot be together. Should we coordinate with the drama’s promotion and prepare some promotional materials? After all, nowadays promotions tend to market the real-life ’CP-feel’ of the actors. If you two weren’t dating, marketing the ’CP-feel’ would be alright, but now it feels weird to market a real couple as a fictitious couple.”

Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve considered this problem. Actually, the rumors about Zhou Yun and Song Chi never really stopped, so I think we don’t need to specially focus on that for promotions. Compared to that, their fanbase for the CP is already quite vast. It might be better to allocate the promotional funds to Song Chi and Su Yan instead since in terms of the plot, the character Liu Ruyan that Zhou Yun plays is more of a tragic figure and can leave a deeper impression than Su Yan’s character.”

What Zhou Lan didn’t mention was that she had witnessed Zhou Yun and Song Chi acting together on set.

She knew well that such a duo didn’t need further marketing of the supposed ’CP-feel.’ The two characters in ”Heart Inquiry” were already compelling enough to move people and bring them to tears.

Wu Chengbao laughed and then, along with everyone, addressed Zhou Lan as Sister Lan, saying, ”We will need to communicate more in the future.”

Zhou Lan said, ”You are the senior, I have much to learn from you.”

After the dinner, Zhou Yun inquired about Wu Chengbao from Zhou Lan.

A rare look of respect appeared on Zhou Lan’s face.

”He is very impressive and nice. As an agent, I aspire to be like him,” Zhou Lan said. ”The artists he personally mentored, none have failed to become famous, and all are well-regarded, whether singers, actors, or hosts. He’s especially capable. What’s most impressive is that he has never had a falling out with any of his artists. Even after their collaborations ended, they remained true friends. His connections and influence in the industry are stronger than many top celebrities.”

Zhou Yun exclaimed, ”So he’s that impressive.”

”Yes, it was wise of Song Chi to recruit him,” Zhou Lan nodded. ”Running his own company, he indeed needs such a capable person to hold the fort.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

”It feels like he is not someone easy to deal with.”

Zhou Lan smiled.

”However, Xiao Yun, about the drama that Zheng Xiaowen is involved in, what are your thoughts?” she asked. ”What kind of male lead do you want?”

Zhou Yun said, ”I don’t know. I’ve gotten used to seeing the script first, then considering the actors from there.”

”It doesn’t necessarily have to have a male lead, but if it weren’t for He Yong’s insistence, I’d think not having a romance wouldn’t matter,” Zhou Lan shrugged. ”But if there’s no romantic storyline, the platform won’t buy it.”

”It’s a compromise,” Zhou Yun laughed. ”Honestly, I think Gu Huaichun would be quite suitable.”

”Don’t even think about it then. Right now, Gu Huaichun is Yuehai Network’s highly promoted Top Male Star. He’s not interested in roles that aren’t lead roles, and with such a minimal developmental part, Yuehai Network won’t agree to let him take it,” Zhou Lan said. ”We’ve also had some conflicts with Yuehai Network because of the ’Dark Sky’ drama. It would be difficult to have him play a supporting role for you. I still think it might be better to find a newcomer and potentially sign him.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Then I’ll leave it up to you. I really have no concept of this drama right now, starting to look for actors and setting things up without any real sense of it.”

”Because you are an actor, you don’t deal with these tasks. From my perspective, it’s actually quite good,” Zhou Lan smiled. ”Crafting roles tailored to actors, utilizing strengths and concealing weaknesses, maximizing an actor’s ability and charm.”

Yet, Zhou Yun didn’t expect the news to spread so quickly.

That night, Wen Xi suddenly called her, asking, ”Xiao Yun, are you preparing a drama about the fashion industry?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Yes, I am. What’s up, Sister Wen Xi? Are you interested in joining us?”

Wen Xi: ”Oh, I’m not cut out for acting. It’s Jin Su who heard about this and asked me to inquire if there’s a suitable role for him, and if so, could you consider him?”

Zhou Yun, feeling troubled, said, ”But right now, we still don’t have a script. We don’t even know what kind of male actors we are looking for. We’ve mentioned conducting auditions later. When the time comes, you can have Jin Su come to audition.”
