Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 288: Chapter 250: Rising Period: 86

Ma Chunlin and Li Ge really do get along very well.

Song Chi has been in Shanghai recently, so Zhou Yun and Song Chi met up a few more times and also saw Ma Chunlin and Li Ge a few times.

Gradually getting to know them, Zhou Yun discovered Ma Chunlin and Li Ge aren’t as enthusiastic in reality as they were during their first meeting. It’s not that their enthusiasm when they first met was fake, but it was clear that the warmth they showed initially was specially prepared for Zhou Yun.

It makes sense, after all. There aren’t many people who are always that lively and animated.

They acted like a couple of fun-loving people, creating an atmosphere, so Zhou Yun wouldn’t feel unfamiliar and indifferent, to quickly dispel the awkwardness of their first meeting.

Song Chi told Zhou Yun that Ma Chunlin was indeed single and quite fond of Yuk Chu, asking if Yuk Chu was single.

Zhou Yun nodded, smiled, and said, ”She’s single, but it seems like Yuk Chu doesn’t have any interest in dating. I rarely hear her talk about these things, she hardly ever goes out on dates.”

Song Chi: ”As long as we know she’s single, that’s good. The rest is up to Chunlin to make an effort.”

A smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

On Friday, Zhou Lan flew back from Hong Kong and met with Zhou Yun, staring at Zhou Yun with surprise for quite a while, which made Zhou Yun feel puzzled. Zhou Yun touched her face and asked, ”What’s wrong with me?”

”You look so radiant, did something good happen?”

”What good things? Nothing at all.” Zhou Yun denied.

Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve noticed you’ve been meeting Song Chi quite frequently lately, meeting every few days for a meal. Any progress?”

Zhou Yun clicked her tongue, ”Why are you always focusing on me and Song Chi? Are you fixated on me because you haven’t dated in so long yourself?”

”Starting to attack me now?” Zhou Lan said, ”If I go off to date, who would handle all these things for you? I’ve actually clinched an endorsement deal for you in Hong Kong, a pretty impressive one.”

”It’s not another deal snatched from someone else’s jaws, is it?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Heh, big sis, what kind of endorsement deals these days are waiting pure and untouched for you? This time, rest assured, it was a clean breakup, the brand wanted a fresh face. The previous endorser has a good reputation in the industry, not as petty as Su Yan. This kind of contract naturally ending without renewal, everybody understands the concept of parting on good terms, only Su Yan would still bother to call you. To be frank, it’s mostly your personal grudge playing a part,” Zhou Lan rolled her eyes upward.

Zhou Yun inquired, ”What endorsement?”

”A brand that specializes in high heels, a Hong Kong brand that’s also been in the mainland for many years. You’ve worn their shoes before, called seven o’clock.”

”Ah, I know that one,” Zhou Yun said, ”I really like their shoes.”

”I know, that’s why I specifically flew to Hong Kong to negotiate this endorsement,” Zhou Lan said, ”It’s for two years.”

”You settled it that quickly?” Zhou Yun asked.

”We had been in contact before, they hope you would wear their heels on the Venice red carpet, and I agreed.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I didn’t expect everyone to be so focused on me walking the Venice red carpet.”

”What did you think? Of course, you know how much exposure the Venice red carpet gets?” Zhou Lan said, ”Do you remember how a certain top-tier celebrity actress rose to fame? Didn’t she make her way through by striking on the international film festival red carpets?”

Zhou Yun raised both hands, ”I hardly think I’m capable of that.”

”If you don’t have the capability, the brands will help shape it for you,” Zhou Lan said, ”Actually, the more people or parties you cooperate with, the easier it becomes for you, because you are in a community of shared interests. You contribute a little, and everybody else will help promote it tenfold, and in return, they also benefit tenfold.”

Zhou Yun stretched lazily.

”But speaking of which, what’s the actual situation with you and Song Chi?” Zhou Lan asked.

Zhou Yun glared, ”Why did it go back to him again? Sister Lan, can you let it go, please?”

Zhou Lan: ”You have to satisfy my curiosity a little.”

”We’re not together for your curiosity,” Zhou Yun retorted.

Zhou Lan let out a piercing scream.

”Have you finally admitted that you two are together?” She pointed at Zhou Yun with an excited expression that screamed ”I’ve caught you now, haven’t I?”

Zhou Yun realized she had just let something slip.

”...”

Zhou Lan: ”Come clean, when did you two get together?”

Zhou Yun: ”... Actually, we’re not really together. It’s just that, I don’t want to deceive myself anymore by saying we’re just friends.”

Zhou Lan: ”Haha, you’re aware that you’ve been deceiving yourself before.”

Zhou Lan’s laughter was unabated, and Zhou Yun could only give her an annoyed glance.

At the end of July, the already high temperature climbed even higher. Heat waves piled on top of each other, as if the air itself was twisted and deformed by baking, entering fully into the sweltering heat of midsummer.

The cicadas’ cries were boiling over.

Yuk Chu suddenly came to Zhou Yun.

”I’ve encountered a very serious problem,” Yuk Chu said.

”What’s wrong?” Zhou Yun was somewhat surprised. Because Yuk Chu had never spoken to her like this before.

As mentioned before, Yuk Chu is a person whose life is rather simple. Even though she’s also an actress and films movies, she’s not the same type as Zhou Yun. Yuk Chu doesn’t have such a strong desire or urgency for fame. And it must be admitted that, sometimes, the troubles a person encounters are directly proportional to their desires and ambitions. Desires and ambitions mean competing for lanes with others, competition implies friction and conflict.

Many of the issues Zhou Yun has faced, Yuk Chu has never encountered.

Therefore, Zhou Yun couldn’t guess what Yuk Chu meant by ”a very serious problem.”

Yuk Chu said, ”Xiao Yun, Ma Chunlin confessed his feelings for me.”

Zhou Yun was surprised that this was the serious problem Yuk Chu was talking about.

”He confessed to you... What’s the issue? Why is it a serious problem?”

”I don’t like him,” Yuk Chu said. ”But I don’t know how to reject him.”

So, it was disinterest.

For a moment, Zhou Yun felt a bit disappointed for Ma Chunlin, but Yuk Chu was her friend, so within a moment, she stood on Yuk Chu’s side and said, ”If you don’t like him, just tell him directly that you don’t like him.”

”I... He just broke up with his girlfriend, wouldn’t it be too hurtful to reject him outright?” Yuk Chu asked.

Zhou Yun: ”Men are not as fragile as you think.”

”It’s so annoying, why did he have to confess to me? I quite like being friends with him,” Yuk Chu said. ”He’s quite an interesting person.”

”Do you think he’s interesting?”

”Yes,” Yuk Chu said.

Zhou Yun asked, puzzled, ”But you don’t like him?”
