Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 256: Chapter 218: Rising Phase: 54

”Hard work, hard work.” Long time no see, Zhou Lan started with a big bear hug for Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”It’s not hard.”

Zhou Lan: ”It seems you and Wen Bing had a great time cooperating.”

”It was very enjoyable, he is really talented,” Zhou Yun shrugged, ”After filming for these twenty days, I actually felt quite at ease.”

Zhou Lan: ”So confident? That’s not your usual style.”

Zhou Yun said: ”Yeah, I can hardly believe, I could be this confident.”

Zhou Lan said: ”Let’s work hard and hope this film can help you win an award.”

”Sister Lan, you’re exaggerating.”

”How is that an exaggeration.”

”Those major domestic awards are now all given to high-box-office, high-impact films; it’s rare to see art films get nominated anymore,” Zhou Yun said.

”Wow, you seem quite knowledgeable about this, must have been keeping an eye on it,” Zhou Lan teased.

Zhou Yun: ”...”

”You yourself must have wanted to try for an award already,” Zhou Lan asked curiously.

Zhou Yun: ”What’s wrong with wanting an award? A soldier who doesn’t want to be a general isn’t a good soldier.”

Zhou Lan said: ”Then keep pushing.”

Zhou Yun couldn’t help but keep pushing.

”Dingfengbo” has already started filming, she had to join the crew seamlessly tomorrow, but she still hadn’t fully memorized her script lines.

Thinking about this, Zhou Yun felt very uneasy.

Zhou Lan said: ”How about having a good meal? You seem to have lost weight again, is the food not good in the crew?”

”No, I’m just controlling my weight,” Zhou Yun said. ”Getting fat doesn’t look good on camera.”

Zhou Lan took out her phone and said, ”Let me book a place, take you to replenish some nutrients.”

”Ah, I’m not going, I still need to go home and pack up, memorize lines,” Zhou Yun said. ”I have to join the crew tomorrow, and I haven’t memorized my lines yet.”

”That’s fine then, I know, I’ll take you home.”

Fortunately, the filming of ”Life” is in Shanghai, so it’s very convenient for Zhou Yun to go home.

She is still living in the apartment suite provided by the company.

Zhou Lan asked, ”Do you want me to order food?”

Zhou Yun shook her head, saying no.

Zheng Xiaojue helped Zhou Yun carry her luggage back to her apartment first. Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan went to the company first, as there were some matters to communicate with He Yong.

He Yong had been waiting in his office, and as soon as he heard that Zhou Yun had entered the company’s main gate, he immediately got up and personally came to the elevator entrance to welcome her.

Other people in the same company floor saw this and marveled secretly.

Such treatment was only previously granted to Wei Ru Xue.

Now everyone at Chengqian Entertainment knows that Zhou Yun and He Yong have a deep relationship, even stepping into ”Dingfengbo” for supporting He Yong, this signal is known to everyone.

As for Li Ci, it’s irrelevant, since he was solely discovered and promoted by He Yong.

How Zhou Yun was treated in the company previously, everyone isn’t blind or deaf, they know a thing or two, so they find Zhou Yun’s actions somewhat puzzling.

Logically, Zhou Yun should have opted for Lu Yicheng, not He Yong.

No one expected this.

When Zhou Yun exited the elevator, He Yong immediately approached with a smile and hugged her.

”Hard work, another film done!”

Zhou Yun wasn’t used to He Yong being so warm and attentive. She wasn’t blind to his true nature.

”President He, let’s go inside to talk,” Zhou Lan proactively helped Zhou Yun speak her mind.

The three entered the office.

Once inside, He Yong’s face fell, complaining, ”You don’t know, these past days Lu Yicheng has been saying that the company shouldn’t give you the autonomy to choose scripts, also mentioning that if it weren’t like this, Zhou Yun definitely wouldn’t go filming art films, getting mocked online for poor resources. I almost wore out my lips to persuade the other executives not to listen to him and to trust your judgment.”

Zhou Yun sat down and said, ”Whether you believe my judgment or not, you now have no right to interfere with my freedom to select scripts.”

”Yes, of course,” nodded He Yong.

”President He, I’m here about another matter, about ’Dingfengbo’,” Zhou Yun’s face darkened as she spoke, ”I’m taking on this film for reasons you are very aware of.”

”Yes, yes, I totally understand,” He Yong groaned with a headache.

”Then why is Xu Siyao suddenly also starring in this film?” Zhou Yun lifted her gaze, her eyes shooting a sharp light.

He Yong thought, as expected she’s here to ask this.

He sighed and said, ”I can’t be blamed for this, recently, she attended that event with you, became famous after that fall, the headquarters specifically named her to participate, I couldn’t refuse.”

Zhou Yun scoffed.

He Yong said: ”I assure you, this time Xu Siyao will definitely keep her distance from you, and both of your press releases absolutely won’t be put together.”

”Your assurance holds no credibility,” said Zhou Yun, ”you also assured me before that Xu Siyao would never appear in the same scenes as me.”

He Yong stumbled, unable to produce a complete sentence for a long time.

Zhou Yun said, ”It seems like next time I need to write into my contract not to star in the same film with Xu Siyao.”

He Yong, trying to appease, said, ”It’s not necessary, Xiao Yun, Xu Siyao’s participation in this film isn’t completely without benefits, her current popularity and fan base aren’t low, her presence could enhance ’Dingfengbo’’s performance.”

Zhou Yun: ”Does President He mean to say that Li Ci and I together still aren’t enough, that we need Xu Siyao to boost star power and popularity?”

He Yong: ”Of course not, you two are the hottest male and female celebrities now, how could it be? But, Xiao Yun, this film is too important to me, it cannot afford any mistakes, if it can have an extra layer of insurance, that would be beneficial too.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”I get it, in the end, in President He’s eyes, I’m no better than an insurance.”

”How can you say that! In my heart, you are the most important person,” He Yong claimed, patting his chest, ”Believe me, if it wasn’t for headquarters’ strong demands, I would definitely not agree to let Xu Siyao star in this movie. I care deeply about your thoughts and feelings, not to mention, aside from you, Xu Siyao is another celebrity that rose to fame this year. Under these circumstances, if there were a choice, why would I place you both in the same film? I wouldn’t. Why wouldn’t I arrange a newcomer for the second female role? It could even promote another actress.”

Zhou Yun shook her head, ”President He, you always have various reasons. I don’t want to judge whether your words are true or false. I’m just here to tell you, since you’re unable to fulfill the conditions we agreed on initially, then I have no reason to continue adhering to our agreement. I’ve already signed the contract for ’Dingfengbo’, I cannot breach it, I’ll still have to film it, but other than that, it stops here.”
