Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 297: Chapter 259: Ascent Phase: 95

The idea is good, but the solution of the young and wealthy often tends to be simple and crude.

Wei Heyun made some inquiries and heard about the widely circulated words spoken by Su Yan. With further probing, he learned about the past conflicts and friction between Zhou Yun and Su Yan. It dawned on him that this was the trouble Zhou Yun was talking about.

Thinking he understood the crux of the matter, Wei Heyun couldn’t help but smile smugly, feeling a strange sense of relief: What kind of trouble is this? Zhou Yun is making a mountain out of a molehill. If Su Yan’s words are unpleasant, just teach her a lesson.

So, through his relatives, Wei Heyun made some moves and spread some rumors—ambiguous and insubstantial, but plausible enough.

Very soon, the rumor that Su Yan had offended some people spread within the circle, and it was hinted that there should be a careful review of her future actions.

The circle is small, and it’s just a handful of people going around in circles.

It wasn’t difficult to find out who Su Yan had offended, and similarly easy to trace who was behind the rumors.

Whether Wei Heyun’s actions would have any substantial impact on Su Yan was questionable. However, in the entertainment industry, even dubious rumors could influence people’s attitudes and thus affect some decisions. Su Yan’s normal work wasn’t affected, but wherever she went, people looked at her with strange insinuations in their eyes.

Many interpreted it as Wei Heyun taking out Zhou Yun’s anger.

Thus, the initial impression was further cemented.

”...”

”I really want to scold Wei Heyun; I’m so speechless,” Zhou Yun complained to Song Chi, ”What is going on with his brain? Did he grow anything else besides his body?”

That night, Song Chi went to Zhou Yun’s house.

Zhou Yun was in Song Chi’s arms, watching a movie.

But the movie wasn’t very interesting, and Zhou Yun’s mind wandered off, which soon led to a conversation about the incident.

Song Chi had always been considerate and never brought up the matter, as if he had heard nothing about it.

Only when Zhou Yun started talking about it did Song Chi smile and say, ”Wei Heyun has been protected by his family since childhood and flattered by outsiders. He does whatever pleases him.”

”Such a life is really... enviable,” Zhou Yun lamented, ”Why wasn’t I born into such a family? To live carefree.”

Song Chi couldn’t help but smile.

He caught the scent of Zhou Yun’s hair.

”Being born into such a family can mean a worry-free life, but it can also lead to wasted potential, don’t you think?”

”Many people long to be spoiled to that extent.”

”That’s just lip service,” Song Chi’s hand gently brushed through Zhou Yun’s hair, ”At least, I don’t think you’re the type to willingly lie down and accept mediocrity.”

”Me? I don’t know,” Zhou Yun shook her head, ”From a young age, I realized I could only rely on myself, so I never let up. Looking back from where I stand today, would I exchange my not-so-successful present for a past that didn’t require so much effort? If I really could choose, my choice might not be to avoid it.”

At this time, Wu Chengbao arrived.

Song Chi apologized, saying, ”There’s an urgent matter that needs to be discussed in person, so I had to invite him over.”

”It’s alright, you guys talk, I’ll head to the bedroom.” After saying that, Zhou Yun stood up, greeted Wu Chengbao, and went to read.

Wu Chengbao sat down and said to Song Chi, ”I met with Lu Hongjie from Yuehai Network. He’s very interested in our vision and is willing to meet our terms, but he has a requirement that I need to discuss with you immediately.”

”What requirement?” Song Chi asked.

Wu Chengbao replied, ”Yuehai Network wants to invest 60 million yuan in exchange for 20% of our shares.”

”20%? He really dares to ask for a lot,” Song Chi said.

Wu Chengbao’s expression was serious. ”I know it’s a tall order, but if we want to kickstart our film and television production quickly, we can’t do it without platform support. With Yuehai Network’s investment, it will be easier for us to produce many upcoming dramas, after all, having a platform as a safety net.”

”We don’t lack that 60 million yuan; there’s no shortage of willing investors.”

”But they don’t have Yuehai’s resources and platform advantages,” Wu Chengbao said, ”With you onboard, we indeed won’t lack investors, but breaking into the film and television production circle is no easy task, as you know. Many cogs in the machine, if there was someone with understanding to facilitate and bridge connections, we can avoid many detours. Yuehai itself has established mechanisms, and our company is not large enough to be self-sufficient in all aspects. With Yuehai, we can focus on production, get that solidified, build a competent team, and then consider what follows.”

Song Chi clenched his fist, his brows furrowed in thought.

”Song Chi, with Yuehai’s investment, we can greatly reduce our risks,” Wu Chengbao said, ”and it will make our future path smoother. It’s a good deal for us.”

After Wu Chengbao left, Song Chi knocked on Zhou Yun’s bedroom door.

Zhou Yun’s voice came from inside: Come in.

Song Chi opened the door and saw the sight of Zhou Yun sitting on the carpet reading a book.

The soft light cast down, enveloping Zhou Yun in a halo.

Her black hair flowed smoothly to one side, making her appear gentler than usual.

”Finished talking?” Zhou Yun put down the book, stood up, and walked towards Song Chi.

Song Chi nodded and showed a smile, ”I just made a decision, not sure if it’s right or wrong.”

Zhou Yun hugged Song Chi.

”It’s okay, I’m sure you’re right, even if wrong, you have the capacity to bear the consequences of being wrong.”

Song Chi: ”You say that as if no matter what decision I make, there won’t be any problems.”

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”Will there be any problems?”

”You’re right, there won’t be,” Song Chi looked down and nudged Zhou Yun’s forehead, ”But if I go bankrupt in the future, will you take me in?”

Zhou Yun smiled and replied, ”Well, my requirements are pretty high; you’d have to go through an interview first, then I’ll see how you perform.”

Song Chi: ”That’s a bit heartless.”

”You’ve only known me since today?” Zhou Yun sighed, ”Ah, I have to go to Hainan tomorrow to film ’Geology Talk’. After recording, I’ll fly straight to Venice, and I won’t be coming back in between. We’ll be apart for a long time.”

Song Chi: ”You’ll miss me?”

”I’ll miss you,” Zhou Yun looked up, her eyes sparkling like diamonds, ”Will you miss me?”

”Of course.”

”I thought so; how could you not miss someone as pretty as me?” Zhou Yun’s smile beamed, ”By the way, when will ’Heart Inquiry’ air? I heard it might be in September before; I won’t miss the premiere, will I?”

”Heart Inquiry” encountered some issues during the review process and is currently being modified; September might not be feasible. Rest assured,” Song Chi said with a smile, ”What was once a troublesome issue, why has it now turned into good luck?”

Zhou Yun became worried; she had not heard about any review issues with ”Heart Inquiry”.

”Is the issue serious?” she asked.
