Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 257: Chapter 219: Rising Phase: 55

He Yong had not expected Zhou Yun’s reaction to be so intense.

He thought he could handle this matter, thinking no matter what, it was a done deal, and at most Zhou Yun would have an outburst—what was the big deal?

But after speaking, Zhou Yun stood up to leave.

He Yong panicked and blurted out, ”Xiao Yun, Xiao Yun, don’t be rash, it’s not worth it over such a thing!”

”Not worth it?” Zhou Yun scoffed, ”He Yong, I thought that even if we hadn’t completely put our past differences behind us, we should at least share a bond of cooperation. But you never took me seriously at all, my attitude means nothing, my feelings mean nothing, for you the most important is Xu Siyao, go push your Xu Siyao, whether you have Li Ci hype her up or use some drama to boost her fame is your business, don’t fucking drag me into it, I don’t owe you.”

After that, Zhou Yun ignored He Yong’s apologies and persuasion and left with Zhou Lan without looking back.

Her face was as cold as ice.

All the way down the corridor, her expression was seen by everyone.

People murmured to themselves, curious about what had happened. Had Zhou Yun and He Yong fallen out?

Seeing this scene, although everyone was surprised, they weren’t puzzled.

In many people’s eyes, it was only a matter of time before Zhou Yun and He Yong would fall out.

Upon getting into the car, Zhou Yun finally dropped her icy expression and exhaled in relief.

Zhou Lan said, ”Your acting just now wasn’t bad.”

Zhou Yun replied, ”It was also mixed with some real emotions.”

Zhou Lan smiled.

”He Yong really messed up this time, playing it like this, we should be able to keep him on his toes for a while, he’s bound to come to you begging for forgiveness during this period,” Zhou Lan said.

”Then let him come,” Zhou Yun snorted, ”He was already supposed to explain the Xu Siyao matter to me.”

Zhou Lan spoke, ”That is indeed the case, but you need to think it through for yourself, no matter what, you were already standing on He Yong’s side before; you can’t just switch sides to Lu Yicheng now.”

”I’ve heard a saying since I was young, Sister Lan,” Zhou Yun said, ”If a tiger does not show its might, it is treated as a sick cat. There was one problem I truly hadn’t realized before, but now I have, so I need to change.”

”What problem?”

”Many people believe I should not stand on the same side as He Yong. Whether it was his neglect or suppression of me, whatever the reason, these are things he actually did. To others, it seemed like I was forgiving him without a reason. Not just strangers, look at He Yong, why did he dare to go behind my back and have Xu Siyao perform in ’Dingfengbo’? It’s because I was too easygoing before, he didn’t pay any price, and he got my forgiveness and truce. I shouldn’t give people this illusion; being too easygoing does not make you appear generous, but rather easy to talk to or to fool. So you see, He Yong thought he could fool me again this time.”

Zhou Lan admitted, ”I really want to argue with you, but I have to admit you’re right.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s said that kindness is taken advantage of by others.”

”What now? We’ve already signed the contract for ’Dingfengbo’; it’s not like we can just not perform it,” Zhou Lan said.

”Well, then we just perform,” replied Zhou Yun.

”Just thinking about the tricks Xu Siyao might pull gives me a headache,” Zhou Lan said with a hand on her forehead. ”That woman is too much trouble, a natural drama queen. Shall I talk to the production coordinator and get your scenes with her scheduled separately as much as possible?”

”Let’s not trouble the directors,” Zhou Yun replied. ”Splitting one scene into two will exhaust them, and we don’t have much time for filming as it is.”

”It’s okay, I’ll just perform my own part well and won’t say an extra word to her. But, Sister Lan, you must help me keep an eye on the publicity side, make absolutely sure they don’t bundle me and Xu Siyao together.”

”I will,” Zhou Lan said. ”Also, there’s another thing, Xiao Yun, I’ve taken an interest in someone, and I want to bring him with us.”

”Who? Do I know them?” Zhou Yun asked.

”You don’t, he’s a new signee at the company, hasn’t officially debuted yet,” Zhou Lan replied. ”He’s been a trainee at other companies before, and he sings very well.”

”Planning to go down the singer route?”

”Being a singer is too luxurious these days; let him handle both,” Zhou Lan said, ”I need your help.”

”No problem,” Zhou Yun nodded, ”What do you want me to do?”

”I want him to sing either the opening or ending theme song for ’Dingfengbo,’” Zhou Lan said.

As they had anticipated, He Yong came to apologize that very evening.

As Chengqian Entertainment’s Vice President, he naturally knew that Zhou Yun lived in the apartment provided by the company.

Zhou Yun saw He Yong through the peephole and didn’t open the door. She asked through the door, ”What are you here for?”

With an apologetic tone He Yong said, ”Xiao Yun, I’ve come to apologize. Now that I’m here, won’t you open the door to let me in?”

Zhou Yun replied, ”Better not, it’s late at night and bad for our reputations to be alone. It’s best not to let people know about it.”

He Yong suggested, ”Then I can take you out, and we can find a place to sit down?”

”It’s getting late, I need to sleep, President He, you should go back,” Zhou Yun said, ”There’s nothing more for us to talk about.”

After that, Zhou Yun left the entrance and went into the bedroom.

He Yong knocked on the door a few more times, but not getting any response, he left, feeling helpless.

His cousin, Yuh Jiangxing, was waiting for him in the car downstairs.

”Cousin, has Zhou Yun calmed down?” he asked.

”Calm down, I didn’t even see her face,” replied He Yong irritably.

Yuh Jiangxing couldn’t help but smile with a touch of schadenfreude, ”I told you, women don’t cool off so easily.”

”You’re laughing? If it weren’t for you repeatedly mediating with Xu Siyao, would I be in this mess?” He Yong glared at Yuh Jiangxing.

Now, Yuh Jiangxing was Xu Siyao’s agent.

Yuh Jiangxing raised his hands and said, ”Cousin, don’t put the blame on me, Xu Siyao is like a devil, I can’t stand up to her, she forced me to talk to you, what can I do? Didn’t you say you had already persuaded her to give up the ’Dingfengbo’ project? Why does she now want to take on this supporting role?”

”Because Zhou Yun is the lead actress,” He Yong scoffed, ”That woman knows exactly what she’s doing. A supporting role beside Zhou Yun will create bigger waves than her being a lead.”

Yuh Jiangxing clicked his tongue twice.

”None of them are straightforward.”

”Now what choice do we have? We have to stabilize both sides for now,” said He Yong, ”Anyway, we must prevent Lu Yicheng from coming into contact with Xu Siyao.”

”Don’t worry about that; I’ve made arrangements with her entourage, I’ll know everything that happens,” Yuh Jiangxing promised confidently, ”But as for the conflict between the two of them, cousin, how do you plan to resolve it?”
