Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 261: Chapter 223: Rise: 59

”Miss Zhou, do you need any adjustments made to this workstation?” the set designer asked.

Zhou Yun, who had been picking faults since yesterday, made the set designer dare not take any chances.

Unexpectedly, Zhou Yun said, ”It’s quite good.”

This surprised the set designer.

Sister Lan said to Zhou Yun, ”Let’s run through the scene.”

”Sure.”

In this scene, her face-off with the chief editor was the focus, but the camera would also capture other colleagues in the editorial department, so many actors were needed for the shooting.

For example, her rival in the play, Wan Yu, portrayed by Xu Siyao.

In this scene, Wan Yu didn’t have many lines, just a few sarcastic remarks towards Zhou Yun and that was it.

The actors gradually arrived, but Xu Siyao was nowhere to be seen for a long time.

Sister Lan asked the assistant director to hurry her.

Zhou Yun greeted the other actors one by one.

Among them, the chief editor was played by an experienced actor, Lei Zheng.

Lei Zheng was a big name, having won Best Actor in films and Best Actor in TV dramas, truly a powerhouse.

Privately, Lei Zheng was very amiable; he greeted Zhou Yun and even said, ”Let’s both do our best.”

Zhou Yun was pleasantly surprised.

”Mr. Lei, please give me more guidance,” said Zhou Yun.

”It’s not about giving guidance; let’s just communicate more,” Lei Zheng replied.

After waiting another ten minutes, Xu Siyao still hadn’t arrived.

The assistant director who went to hurry Xu Siyao came back and said awkwardly, ”Xu Siyao’s makeup is not done yet.”

Sister Lan frowned and said, ”She doesn’t have many lines and only a few shots. How long can makeup take?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Director, may Mr. Lei and I rehearse the scene first?”

”Mr. Lei, is that okay?” Sister Lan looked at Lei Zheng.

Lei Zheng nodded, ”Sure.”

He handed the script to his assistant and looked at Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun also handed her script to Zheng Xiaojue.

”Why are you looking for me again? Haven’t we already had a meeting? Your topic selection won’t work,” Lei Zheng said in a measured tone.

Zhou Yun looked steadily at Lei Zheng and said, ”Chief Editor, this really is a valuable topic.”

Lei Zheng, calm and composed, said, ”No topic is without value, but it’s not suitable for now.”

”Why is it not suitable?” Zhou Yun asked, looking directly at Lei Zheng without averting her eyes.

...

The scene went smoothly.

Everyone applauded.

Zhou Yun was astounded.

Sister Lan said, ”That was really well performed, let’s do it the same way later.”

Lei Zheng asked Zhou Yun, ”Did you practice this scene on your own?”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”I tried it a few times in the hotel yesterday.”

”No wonder, it was very smooth,” Lei Zheng remarked, ”I heard from others before that you act well, and seeing it today, it’s no exaggeration.”

Zhou Yun blushed.

”No, no, Mr. Lei, please don’t praise me like that.”

”Of course, good acting should be praised. Well done,” Lei Zheng said.

”Is Xu Siyao ready yet?” Cong Lan asked.

The assistant director hurriedly went to find Xu Siyao, and only then did she show up, fashionably late.

She wore a pink jacket and knee-high leather boots, with her makeup meticulously done, looking tough and very sharp.

A completely different style from Zhou Yun.

If Zhou Yun embodied a realistic, professional sharpness close to real life, Xu Siyao represented that very refined, fully-dressed professional sharpness.

Xu Siyao flashed her trademark sweet smile and said, ”Director, sorry, the makeup took a bit long, I delayed a little, thanks for waiting.”

Cong Lan stared at Xu Siyao for several seconds before saying, ”It’s okay, since you’re here, let’s have everyone rehearse once.”

Xu Siyao nodded, her gaze falling on Zhou Yun, but when she saw Zhou Yun’s plain outfit and appearance, she was stunned for several seconds before snapping back to reality.

She hadn’t expected Zhou Yun to dress so casually.

Just an ordinary person, it seemed.

Xu Siyao had come here early in the morning, spending so much time on makeup and choosing her outfit, all because she was going to shoot a scene with Zhou Yun today and didn’t want to be upstaged.

And to think Zhou Yun had no intention of competing with her at all!

At this moment, Xu Siyao suddenly felt humiliated.

”Xu Siyao, what are you dazing around for? Go to your position,” Cong Lan shouted through the megaphone.

Startled back to reality, Xu Siyao realized everyone around was looking at her.

Everyone else was ready; she was the only one left behind.

Standing there like a fool, motionless.

Embarrassed, Xu Siyao bit her lip and walked towards her position.

It was noon, break time.

Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue headed towards the cafeteria.

Zheng Xiaojue asked, ”Sister Xiao Yun, do you want me to get the food from the cafeteria and bring it to the lounge? It’s a bit crowded.”

”Let’s go and see first, if there are no seats I’ll go back to the lounge to eat,” Zhou Yun replied.

Then they encountered Xu Siyao on the way.

Zhou Yun did not want to interact with her and pretended not to see her.

But Xu Siyao thought otherwise. She walked up to Zhou Yun, pushed Zheng Xiaojue aside, and said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, didn’t expect me to come shoot ’Dingfengbo,’ huh?”

”Does it matter what I think? As long as you can do what you want to do, isn’t that enough?” Zhou Yun said. ”I’ll do my acting, and you do yours, we have nothing to do with each other.”

”Nothing to do with each other? How is that possible? Sister Xiao Yun, you’re too naive. Everyone online is saying I’m not even fit to carry your shoes. Have you thought about the humiliation I’ve suffered?” Xu Siyao’s face showed jealousy, ”If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be attacked by so many people.”

Zhou Yun looked at her incredulously and said, ”Why don’t you think about it? If it weren’t for all the things you did yourself, why would you be attacked? You’re quite skilled at rejecting blame.”

Xu Siyao clearly had no intention of reflecting on herself.

”I won’t let you go,” she said. ”Just wait and see, one day, I will crush you under my feet, and you will no longer be able to look down on me with that disdainful gaze.”

Even Zhou Yun, with her good temper, felt the rage ignited by Xu Siyao’s provocation at this moment.

”Are you crazy? What you want to do has nothing to do with me, but if you insist on provoking me, then fine, bring it on.”

Xu Siyao suddenly laughed.

”Finally showing your true colors, huh? Pretending to be so innocent, it’s truly disgusting.”

Xu Siyao turned away triumphantly, her head held high like a peacock.

Zhou Yun was left speechless and fuming inside.

Zheng Xiaojue spoke out indignantly on Zhou Yun’s behalf, saying, ”Xu Siyao is too despicable, I must tell Sister Lan!”

”Xiaoju, do something for me,” Zhou Yun said expressionlessly as she watched Xu Siyao’s retreating figure. ”Since she got a lot of positive reviews last time for walking the red carpet with Li Ci, let’s add more fuel to the fire and make it burn even brighter.”
