The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 242: Chapter 242 As Long As He Doesn’t Die, He Will Achieve Greatness_1

Leonard Reid understood at once upon hearing this.

”When people have bonds, they are restricted by all sorts of worldly rules. The fewer the bonds, the fewer the restrictions. You are so powerful and have no ties to anything; ordinary people who get angry can splatter blood within five steps. A master like you, once without concerns, can cause tremendous destruction.”

Carson Flores nodded in agreement with Leonard Reid’s opinion, ”Exactly, my master is known as the ’Madman’, and he has no attachments. Living alone, he is haughty and does as he pleases. He was once insulted by a powerful Great Sect, and then he started to strike out at the members of this sect when they were isolated. Catching one and crippling another, he ultimately drained the huge sect completely.”

”The cruel fear the stubborn, the stubborn fear those who are reckless. If my strength was weaker, they would not need to give me face because they have enough power to contain or even kill me. But when they lack the ability to restrain me, they would be afraid of me wreaking havoc recklessly.”

Leonard Reid laughed, ”Scoundrels grind down other scoundrels. Those big families are so arrogant on normal days, acting as if their eyes are set on the top of their heads. But today, you have taught them a lesson. I have really opened my eyes.”

Carson Flores chuckled, ”For the things that are to come, you don’t need to worry or get involved, Leonard. Once we have taken down the Miller Family, if you’re interested, you could step in and have a share in dividing up their assets.”

Leonard Reid chuckled, ”Okay, the Miller Family does have quite a lot of real estate holdings.”

Carson Flores asked, ”The Martinez Family, how much do you know about them, Leonard?”

Leonard Reid looked at Carson Flores in surprise, ”The Martinez Family and the Miller Family are business rivals, and their battle is quite fierce. Speaking of which, the Martinez Family and I are also competitors. We’ve been fighting over a piece of land recently... Are you planning to join forces with the Martinez Family?”

Carson Flores was stunned, ”The Martinez Family is also your competitor?”

Leonard Reid explained, ”Originally, a company that the Miller Family had shares in was competing with me for this piece of land. That’s also where Oscar Miller’s confidence came from when he proposed helping me acquire that land in exchange for a partnership in developing the Polgel Business District. However, the government recently made some policy adjustments, and apparently, the Martinez Family got wind of it and suddenly joined the fray with strong force. The Miller-affiliated company felt they couldn’t compete and backed out. Now it has become a battle between me and the Martinez Family.”

Carson Flores asked, ”Can you win against them?”

Leonard Reid gave a wry smile, ”The Martinez Family is one of the Top Four Families within the Eight Great Families of Seashore; their influence there is immense. I started from scratch, so of course, I can’t compare to them, but I still have to fight for it. This piece of land is very important for my development over the next few years, so I have to take a chance no matter what.”

Carson Flores asked, ”Very important?”

Leonard Reid nodded, ”Yes, it’s related to some plans for my company. But that’s how business competition is—if you want something, surely others will want it too. All one can do is to strive for it. The Martinez Family wants that land purely for profit. For me, as long as I don’t lose money, I stand a chance. If they don’t play any underhanded tricks and it comes to open bidding, I might still have some hope.”

Carson Flores kept this in mind; after all, Oscar Miller had used this project as leverage to trade, and Leonard Reid had refused Oscar Miller, choosing to stand by him instead. To Carson Flores, it didn’t really matter, but Leonard Reid had given up a huge benefit and taken a significant risk in his choice, which was a favor in and of itself.

”Okay, let’s leave it at that for now. I’m going to head back,” Carson Flores said.

Declining Leonard Reid’s dinner invitation, Carson Flores left with Lydia Howell. Watching their departure, Leonard Reid felt an inexplicable sense of admiration.

”The youngsters nowadays are truly fierce, to easily suppress Shiloh Fitzgerald...”

The old man behind Leonard Reid whispered softly, ”As long as this young man doesn’t die, in twenty years, I fear no one will dare to provoke him. For you, this is an opportunity.”

Leonard Reid laughed, ”Indeed, having such strength and boldness at only in his twenties, in twenty years, even if he remains alone, he’d still be someone who roams the world fearlessly. Such a person is definitely someone I should make a strong effort to befriend.”

The old man snorted, ”Why don’t you use the approach you took with me on him?”

Leonard Reid chuckled, ”He’s different from you. With him, the best approach is to exchange sincerity for sincerity. I’ll help him with all I’ve got while I still can. Once he has soared high in the sky, he naturally won’t forget about me. It’s fortunate enough to be friends with him; to expect him to guard me for twenty years like you is simply impossible.”

After a pause, Leonard Reid asked curiously, ”If in the situation just now, Carson Flores wanted to kill me, could you have protected me?”

The old man shook his head, ”If it was just him and there was no surprise attack, I should be able to stop him, allowing you to escape. But he was not alone; if he wanted to kill you, you would surely be dead.”

Leonard Reid stared at the old man, ”Stop him?”

The old man snorted coldly, his expression slightly sullen, ”I can’t beat him; the best I could hope for would perhaps be a draw...”
