The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Money Can’t Corrupt You, What About Beauty?_1

The air suddenly grew quiet, and in that moment, no matter how suave these elites were, they all struggled to think of what to say.

Sarcasm? Comfort?

Clearly, neither was quite fitting.

Someone broke the awkward silence, asking, ”Miss Tate is from Polgel, right? Does Mr. Flores also work in Polgel?”

Samantha Tate said with a smile, ”He was previously a salesperson in the company’s sales department, but recently, due to work demands, he was transferred to Seashore. I wanted to accompany him, so I signed up for this class, partly to be with him and partly to learn something.”

For a moment, everyone didn’t know how to comment.

Work demands?

Not to mention how sales is as a job, but the company’s internal transfer of a salesperson to become a security guard? What kind of move is that?

Security guards are a dime a dozen. Post a job ad, and you’ll fill the spots in no time. Was it necessary to transfer someone from Polgel to Seashore?

You as a salesperson, a security guard, are you that charming?

And to have Samantha Tate, such a stunning beauty, travel all the way to Seashore to be with you?

Are you living off her?

That watch was bought by Samantha Tate for you, wasn’t it?

At Samantha’s words, Carson Flores felt a bit embarrassed.

You woman, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you!

Watching the group of wealthy individuals who couldn’t understand, he guessed that she must’ve been nearly laughing inside.

But speaking of which, Samantha Tate was able to speak about her occupation with a light tone and even seem proud of it, without caring about other people’s views and even taking pleasure in their reactions—this could only mean that she genuinely adored herself.

Only if she believed her man was outstanding and good enough could she be so indifferent to others’ opinions.

Not wanting to become the public enemy of men at the dining table, Carson Flores took the initiative to explain, ”I’m not particularly skilled, just know some medical techniques and I’m pretty good at fighting. My boss probably thought I wasn’t selling much in the sales department anyway, and decided to put me to good use at Seashore guarding the door. After all, she shouldn’t be paying a salary for nothing, right?”

Good at fighting?

Everyone understood then. Although it wasn’t considered a special talent, it did seem quite fitting for a security guard.

Samantha Tate pursed her lips and chuckled, saying no more—it’s better not to overdo it.

”Come on, let’s drink.”

Around the dining table, drinks flowed and the atmosphere gradually enlivened.

Just as Carson Flores had said, most of the conversations among everyone at the table were about company management, policy trends, and some affairs within the circle. Carson Flores didn’t understand a thing and had no way to join in.

Carson Flores didn’t mind at all. He and Samantha Tate chatted quietly, focusing on the various delicacies.

Samantha Tate kept serving Carson Flores food, whispering with a laugh, ”Where do you usually eat?”

Putting down a rib he was holding, Carson Flores laughed, ”In the morning I buy buns and fried dough sticks from a roadside stall, I eat at the factory canteen at noon, and in the evening I go to the food stall near the gate. Most people in the security department are young, the majority unmarried, so we gather in groups, solve dinner together, and can also have a few drinks.”

Samantha Tate said cheerfully, ”That sounds quite lively, no wonder you enjoy it so much.”

Carson Flores responded, ”It’s pretty good, I don’t plan on changing spots for the time being.”

Samantha Tate asked curiously, ”Any new happenings?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”A bunch of moths in the factory, relying on being locals, colluded with some social riffraff outside to extort money from your sister. They brought a gang to block the door and got a beating from me. They weren’t happy, so they called in more people, and the road at the factory gate was jammed full...”

Samantha Tate’s eyes lit up with anticipation, asking, ”What happened next?”

”No fight broke out.”

Carson Flores answered with a cheesy grin, ”Before, when I went out to eat with your sister, we saved an elderly person who had collapsed on the ground. That person’s family is quite influential. His son came to treat me to a meal, just as he arrived on the scene. He slapped the gang leader twice, gave his name, and the gang leader scuttled off with his tail between his legs. Later, they also gave the factory moths a thrashing as an apology and helped clean up the pests in the factory. It was sort of like making amends.”

With a look of longing, Samantha Tate said with regret, ”Ah, it’s a pity I wasn’t there to see you unleash your power. But my sister really has it tough, a woman having to face situations like that. Big bro, you should help her out, okay?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Haven’t I already helped? From now on, no one dares to trouble the pharmaceutical factory, the moths have all been cleaned out, and they’ve returned all the company property they had embezzled. I reckon it’s quite a lot...”

While he was speaking, Carson Flores’s phone screen flashed with a new message.

Carson Flores looked at his phone and his eyes held a touch of surprise.

Seeing Samantha Tate’s curious face, wanting to peek at his phone screen but too shy to look directly, Carson Flores turned his phone and showed the screen to her.

”Your sister is really generous. All the money those people returned totals twenty million, and she just gave me half of it...”

Samantha Tate’s eyes widened, ”Ten million, that much?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”That’s why I say your sister is generous.”

Samantha Tate blinked, ”My sister is very magnanimous in handling things, but you have to stay true to your principles, not be corrupted by money, you know?”

Carson Flores smiled faintly, ”Money can’t corrupt me.”

Samantha Tate stared wide-eyed and huffed, ”Money can’t corrupt you, but beauty can, right?”
