The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 225: Chapter 225: I Gave You the Chance, It’s Up to You to Seize It_1

”A lot has happened between us recently, and it’s hard to explain it all in a few words—not to mention it’s inconvenient to go into detail.”

Carson Flores reached out and patted Samantha Tate’s back. ”Let’s do this, three months! When three months are up, I will definitely give you a clear explanation!”

With these words, Carson also made up his mind.

If, after three months, he was still divorced from Shirley Miller, as they had previously agreed, then he would take Samantha Tate away from Polgel, away from Seashore, and consider his time with Shirley Miller to be nothing but a dream.

If, after three months, he wasn’t divorced from Shirley Miller, or if something new had developed, he would be honest with Samantha Tate about everything.

Samantha Tate suddenly became anxious. ”Brother, what do you mean by this? Are you saying you might not divorce her?”

Carson Flores smiled bitterly. ”Right now, I really don’t know what she’s thinking.”

Samantha Tate clung to Carson Flores desperately and said loudly, ”I don’t care, whether you get a divorce or not, I won’t leave you. If you don’t want me, I’ll be heartbroken, I really will cry.”

Carson Flores helplessly said, ”Nothing has happened yet; I was just talking about a possibility...”

Samantha Tate, hitting Carson Flores’ chest with her hand, said, ”There are no possibilities! You kissed me, you have to take responsibility, no backing out!”

Carson let her fists fall on him and held her tight. ”I didn’t say I would shirk responsibility. I’m telling you all this precisely to be responsible to you.”

Samantha Tate’s cheeks flushed slightly. ”You’re still a man, the opportunity was there for you, and you didn’t seize it, huh!”

Carson Flores had nothing to say in response, so he remained silent.

After resting in Carson Flores’ arms for a while, Samantha Tate suddenly spoke. ”The day Wenwen jumped off the building, we both went to the hotel, and at that time, you didn’t refuse. Was it because you had no feelings for her then, and you were certain about the divorce, so her thoughts didn’t matter to you? But later, when I asked you to go to the hotel, you refused. Did your relationship change during that time? Did you start thinking that it might be possible that you two wouldn’t get a divorce, so you’ve been deliberately keeping your distance from me?”

Carson Flores was surprised at Samantha Tate’s astute insight; indeed, women are very sensitive when it comes to relationships.

Carson Flores nodded. ”Yes.”

Samantha Tate did not speak again, and just lay quietly in Carson Flores’ arms. After a while, she disentangled herself from his embrace, took his arm with a smile, and said, ”Let’s go.”

As Carson Flores looked at the smile on Samantha Tate’s face, he said, ”If you’re not happy, you don’t have to force yourself to smile.”

Samantha Tate shook her head. ”I’m not upset.”

As if worried Carson Flores wouldn’t believe her, Samantha Tate said with a smile, ”When I first met you, I knew you were already married, even though it was just a marriage contract. But deep down, I considered the possibility that you might not be able to get a divorce. In the end, I thought it wasn’t important. What matters is your attitude towards me.”

”As long as you truly like me and treat me well, everything else is not a problem. I’ve been very independent since I was young. Even if we can’t be together all the time, I can take care of myself well when you’re not around.”

”I’ve stayed single at this age because I’m picky. I haven’t found a man I like, but now that I have, even if there are some imperfections, isn’t that normal? After all, nothing in this world is perfect.”

”Once I think about it that way, I’m honestly not upset. Besides, what you’re talking about now is just a possibility, and the fact that you consider me so much, instead of rushing to sleep with me—even though I laugh at you, I am actually very touched inside.”

”Look at those men in our class. No matter how discreetly they hide it, you can see the repressed greed and desire in their eyes. If it weren’t for my family’s decent circumstances, they would probably be more direct with their money, asking me to sleep with them or to become their mistress.”

”Compared to you, they’re nothing. Think about it, marrying a man who spends his days pondering how to sleep with young and pretty women—I’d rather be single and live well.”

”My family’s situation isn’t the best, but it’s not bad either. I never wanted to short-change myself. Between him liking me and me liking him, I’d rather choose the latter. Because when you like someone, you’re willing to give, and just being liked doesn’t let you experience the thrill of anticipation or the happiness of having your feelings returned.”

Samantha Tate spoke softly and warmly while Carson Flores listened carefully, then suddenly realized that Samantha Tate’s understanding of love was far more profound than his own.

It’s said that women mature early, and there’s truth in that.

Looking up with a light laugh, Samantha Tate said, ”You know, I even thought that you and my sister spending so much time together might have led to feelings developing...”
