The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 238: Chapter 238 Being Frank May Lead to Leniency_1

”The Martinez Family, mainly engaged in real estate and biotechnology, which includes drug research and development as well as sales, competes fiercely with the Miller Family in both domains. Though not exactly mortal enemies, the business world is a battlefield. If anyone wanted to destroy the Miller Family, the Martinez Family would welcome it with open arms and would be more than willing to give them a push.”

Remy Johnston explained, ”If the Miller Family falls, the Martinez Family will lose a competitor and inevitably reap great benefits.”

Carson Flores felt his interest piqued. Having an additional ally could only be good, even if they couldn’t lead a charge. If they helped rally behind us, took a few swings in the dark, and kicked someone when they’re down, that’d still be pretty decent.

As for healing, well, what’s difficult for some is not so for others. Since there’s a benefit, why not give it a try?

”Alright then. I’ll try, but I can’t guarantee I’ll manage to cure everyone when it comes to healing and saving lives.”

Remy Johnston smiled, ”Of course, now that you agree, shall I make arrangements?”

”Sure!”

After returning to the hotel and taking a shower, Shirley Miller came over in her robe as she had grown accustomed to.

It had become her routine before bed to chat with Carson Flores, discuss factory matters, listen to his opinions, as if it had become an unspoken agreement between them.

”Where did you go to socialize today? I find that you’re even busier than I am.”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Went to the Johnston Family today, to treat Taylor Johnston’s illness. I wanted to owe them a favor, might come in handy later on.”

Shirley Miller said softly, ”Against the Miller Family?”

Carson Flores replied with a smile, ”Yeah. Today I learned about the family dynamics at Seashore: Zhu, Qin, Zuo, Xu, Johnston, Lu, Miller, Wei, the Eight Great Families. Both the Miller and Johnston Families are among them. Completely taking down the Miller Family is not going to be easy.”

Shirley Miller said apologetically, ”I’ve never cultivated. As for news about cultivators, hardly anyone would talk to me about that. I’m not even clear on how many capable cultivators the Miller Family has... ”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Knowing a person or a family clearly isn’t only the privilege of that person or family itself. Enemies often understand them best. Someone will know, don’t worry.”

Shirley Miller hesitated before asking, ”The beautiful woman who came looking for you the other day is...?”

Carson Flores’s expression remained unchanged, ”Just someone I met by chance at a bar, the daughter of Seashore’s richest man, Miss Camille Rhodes of the Rhodes Family.”

Shirley Miller widened her eyes in surprise, ”Are you planning to join forces with the Rhodes Family?”

Even with thick skin, Carson Flores felt uncomfortable leading this conversation, ”No, it was purely coincidental. It was the day of our... little mishap. I went to a bar afterwards. She just happened to be sitting next to me...”

Little mishap?

Shirley Miller paused for a moment before it dawned on her, and instantly her face carried a hint of discomfort.

Back then, Carson Flores had kissed her cheek, and she had run off in a panic. He went to a bar afterwards?

Shirley Miller felt a twinge of sourness in her heart, ”Did you go to the bar to pick up girls?”

Carson Flores shook his head, ”No, just grabbed a private booth, played some games, blew off some steam. She was sitting in a booth behind me to the side, also alone with a bodyguard. She was watching me lose a few games from behind, started talking to me, and suggested we team up for some online gaming. We played a few games, had a few drinks, and then I went back.”

Shirley Miller breathed a sigh of relief, ”Why did you end up fighting with her bodyguard? Er, I’m just curious. If you don’t want to talk about it, just ignore my question.”

Asking the question, Shirley Miller felt an inexplicable sense of vulnerability.

He wasn’t really her husband, after all. Why was she digging so deep?

Carson Flores laughed, ”It’s fine, just casual banter. She made her bodyguard tease me at the time, and then we exchanged a few blows. I gave her a bit of a hard time. I didn’t know she was the Rhodes Family’s Miss, and I didn’t get her phone number. Thought that’d be the end of it after I left. But she tracked down the taxi license plate I took, found out the hotel we were staying at, where I worked, even our marital status...”

Shirley Miller was stunned, ”Is she that vengeful, going out of her way to investigate you? What did you do to her, exactly?”

Carson Flores looked a bit awkward, hesitated for a moment, then said, ”Outside the bar, when we were about to part ways, she deliberately teased me, saying I could go with her for the night if I could get in the car. But she had her bodyguard block the door, clearly just wanting to see me embarrassed. I was annoyed, so I floored her bodyguard, charged into the car, kissed her before she could react, coped a feel, and then ran off...”

”Uh...”

Shirley Miller was at a loss for words. Surprisingly, instead of feeling sour, she found the situation incredibly amusing.

Imagining the scene, it was like Carson Flores was a flower-picking bandit, rushing in for a kiss, snagging a feel, and making a quick getaway. With no one able to catch up, they could only watch him and fume...

”You’re really something, not afraid of being arrested for harassment,” she teased.

Carson Flores looked at Shirley Miller with a hint of surprise in his eyes, ”She started it, you can’t blame me... You’re not upset?”
