Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 698: Chapter 696: Target Confirmed

After arranging things on this side, Gu Xi turned and entered Yalidu City.

As soon as he entered Yalidu City, Gu Xi sensed the location of the Spirit Lamp bearer.

He was already hurrying towards the Garrison Gate.

Judging by the direction the bearer was moving, he had indeed borrowed the giant vampire bat to fly over.

And the bearer could be considered a personal guard under Gu Xi’s command. Neither Luna nor any other subordinates had any intention of stopping this.

Gu Xi didn’t need to ride a vampire bat; his Evil Coffin wasn’t much slower than a high-speed train.

After confirming the bearer’s direction, Gu Xi jumped onto the Evil Coffin and headed towards the Garrison Gate.

At the same time, Gu Xi’s personal guards also received his order and were moving towards the Garrison Gate.

All these guards were of the giant type, and they were very high level, making it inconvenient to place them in any battalion. In the end, they could only follow Gu Xi and fight alongside him.

This time, when Gu Xi came out, he did not bring them along because they were so large.

He just let them wait in Yalidu City.

But now things were different. Gu Xi felt it was time to let them out to stretch their legs. Not to mention, units like the Bone Armor Centipede could certainly strike at ground enemies again.

So while heading towards the Garrison Gate, Gu Xi decisively ordered them to prepare to go into action.

By the time Gu Xi reached the vicinity of the Garrison Gate, only a little over two minutes had passed. At this time, the bearer had just arrived; he did not communicate with Gu Xi and simply bowed his head and slipped out.

When Gu Xi and his subordinates emerged from Yalidu City, the bearer was already half-floating in the air, staring intently in a specific direction.

Gu Xi reached out his hand again and placed it on the bearer’s body, and the scene he saw was different once more.

Just as Gu Xi had requested, the bearer cut off the Spirit Flame’s sight from other creatures, only searching for the hidden enemy behind the scenes.

If this enemy had not been grasped by the tail, the bearer might have no way to deal with him.

However, having caught it, and with the Spirit Flame remembering its scent, the situation was different.

No matter how well hidden, it couldn’t escape the eyes of the Spirit Lamp.

Although the silk threads were occasionally interrupted.

Gu Xi could clearly see that the thread was leading to the other end of the underground space ahead.

”Let’s go have a look!”

Gu Xi immediately gave the order.

The bearer led Gu Xi, quickly moving in the direction indicated by the silk thread.

They soon reached the endpoint of the underground space.

Here was solid earth and rock. Gu Xi turned to the Bone Titan behind him and said, ”Give it a try.”

The Bone Titan decisively struck, driving its lightning-clad Bone Spear heavily into the rock wall.

The Bone Titan truly used full strength, yet this strike only penetrated a tiny bit.

The situation in front of Gu Xi made his brows furrow; it seemed the underworld was indeed as described in the books, with certain places that couldn’t be dug into.

However, seeing the silk thread disappear at this location, Gu Xi was unwilling to give up.

He thought for a moment and then proceeded to summon several Corpse-Transforming Worms from the city.

Those were converted into the city via Double Death during the Earth Demon Cave battle.

Anyhow, they weren’t difficult to maintain, so Gu Xi didn’t drive them away but raised them in the Bone-devouring Mud.

Now, Gu Xi had no other solution but to let the Corpse-Transforming Worms give it a try, to see if they could dig out a passage.

It wasn’t possible to leave a wall in place when they couldn’t get to the other side, right?

Soon the Corpse-Transforming Worms were brought over.

When not moving, they were exceptionally quiet, lying peacefully on the ground without eyes or anything.

Gu Xi took his Cold Wind Staff and knocked heavily on the wall.

”You find a way to dig through to the other side for me.”

Upon receiving Gu Xi’s command, the Corpse-Transforming Worms began to slowly move.

Seeing their leisurely pace, Gu Xi was a bit speechless. What kind of situation was this?

But something even more surprising happened to Gu Xi. The Corpse-Transforming Worms didn’t dig towards the location specified by Gu Xi but stuck close to the rock wall heading elsewhere.

Their actions puzzled Gu Xi, who wanted to guide them to the right position but eventually gave up.

Gu Xi could tell that these Corpse-Transforming Worms were not mindless.

In the field of digging, they were more expert.

So ultimately, Gu Xi gave up trying to guide them and let them dig according to their instincts.

However, as Gu Xi looked at the Corpse-Transforming Worms’ speed, some thoughts flashed through his mind.

Gu Xi thought carefully, raised his hand, and an owl appeared in it.

Gu Xi quickly scribbled a few lines, then released the owl.

About half an hour later, Mido, who was guarding the Steel City Gate, hurried over.

The owl released earlier was on Gu Xi’s command; he instructed Dali to take over Mido’s duties and had Mido come over.

Once he reached Gu Xi, Mido immediately said, ”Sir, I have found the entrance to another underground passage over there. We are currently sending personnel in to explore. That passage is not underwater, but it’s not easy to traverse.

I ventured in for a while; there are many blocked areas inside.”

Gu Xi understood why Mido said this; he was still a tool person, and after finally seeing a mission, he was called back by Gu Xi halfway through.

This could not help but make him anxious.

So he kept emphasizing his importance over there.

However, there was a reason why Gu Xi called him over.

”Did you see those Corpse-Transforming Worms? I have tasked them to dig through to the other side. Look at them now; they are finding another route.

I need your pathfinding skill and your ability to accelerate the pace of our staff.”

Upon hearing this, Mido realized he wasn’t just brought here to be idle.

Then it’s fine.

With half of his heart settled, Mido looked around quickly.

His pathfinding skill indeed had some advantages, and after observing, Mido confidently said to Gu Xi, ”Sir, there must be a space behind here, but it’s unrealistic to dig directly from here.

This kind of stone wall is the foundational rock of the underworld, so even if there’s a collapse in the underworld, these walls wouldn’t have issues.

Therefore, the Corpse-Transforming Worms have no way to dig through, but the space behind does exist.

They are now searching for a diggable position downward, planning to bypass the stone wall from below and enter the space behind the wall.”

After Mido explained this, Gu Xi understood. This was precisely why he brought Mido over.

”Keep an eye here; I’ll leave an owl with you. Notify me immediately once you find a passage leading to the space behind.”
