Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 657: Chapter 655: A Heavy Blow to the Emerging Enemy

Two hours later, Gu Xi was shaken awake by Eldest Princess Anna.

Glancing at the countdown for the forced mission, the enemy was about ten minutes away.

Gu Xi energetically slapped his own face, then got up.

After making himself a bit more alert, Gu Xi waved his hand, and numerous Stone Golems flew in all directions.

Simultaneously, the Crow Gunners originally stationed at Yaliduvi Tower also flew out.

These two types of forces flew at quite a speed; they were going to investigate external conditions.

The enemies were about to appear, and Gu Xi needed to ascertain their location.

Meanwhile, various units at Yaliduvi Tower had quickly taken their positions.

Corpse Poison Flies and Evil Bone Locusts took to the skies, hovering. Underneath them, the newly risen Bone Curtain shrouded the skies above Yaliduvi Tower.

On the ground, Bone-devouring Mud and Bone-devouring Swamp crept along. The previous incident with the worms had warned Gu Xi that the enemy might not attack from the front; they could emerge from underground.

To avoid being ambushed, Gu Xi had Bone-devouring Mud cover every inch of Yaliduvi Tower’s ground, preventing any enemies from emerging from below.

On the city wall, Skeleton Shooters, led by the Skeleton Shooter Boss, patrolled back and forth.

Somewhere at the rear of Yaliduvi Tower, Skeleton Mages were being led by the Skeleton Mage Boss, stationed beside Brave Fight.

Meanwhile, more than six hundred Corpse Children were already prepared, standing nearby.

These were intended for sacrifice at the Demon Sacrifice Camp; if the enemy came alone, they would serve as offerings.

Five minutes before the enemy’s arrival, Gu Xi stood on the Yaliduvi Tower’s city wall, the very spot Eldest Princess Anna had been before.

Undoubtedly, the view from here was so much better than from the Soul Summoning Tower.

From this position, Gu Xi could observe a vast range of surroundings.

While munching on food like roasted owl, Gu Xi kept his gaze on everything in the distance.

With three minutes left, the Stone Golems and Crow Gunners began to circle in the sky, searching for every single detail.

For them, finding a hint of the enemy’s emergence in advance meant a victory for Gu Xi.

With less than a minute on the countdown, a Stone Golem suddenly noticed a slight change in a certain area.

Unable to fly back and report, the Stone Golem soared into the sky, circling continuously to indicate Gu Xi and his team should pay attention to this spot.

Gu Xi and Eldest Princess Anna stood at the city gate, and seeing this situation, the most familiar with the area’s terrain, Eldest Princess Anna decisively spoke.

”Around three thousand five hundred meters from here, within our control range but not in our influence range, the enemy’s legion is advancing. They likely plan to regroup their forces here before moving forward.”

Gu Xi noted this situation.

Over three thousand meters away, beyond most of Gu Xi’s forces’ attack range.

Even with Gu Xi’s previous arrangements, it at most stretched to a little over a thousand meters in this area.

The opponent appearing at over three thousand meters suggests they’re advancing a large legion.

”Luna, Yalidu City is your turf; is there a way to move them forward?”

With about thirty seconds remaining, Gu Xi turned to look behind.

On hearing Gu Xi’s command, Luna immediately replied, ”I can try.”

After speaking, Luna vanished from behind Gu Xi, clutching the [Seal - Demon Blood Sacrifice Mirror].

Subsequently, Gu Xi raised his hand and loudly ordered, ”Brave Fight, get ready to begin.”

Upon hearing this, Brave Fight immediately started the magic ceremony.

The twelve hours were quite tense for Brave Fight.

During these twelve hours, he meticulously reworked the magic ceremony he had studied.

Abandoning the Blood Loss Curse, an evidently erroneous direction for the magic ceremony.

Also, he dismissed the Ice Ring Skill due to its ineffective impact.

He made adjustments to the Slowdown Skill, transforming it into a ritual that a Skeleton Mage Boss and a hundred Skeleton Mages could independently conduct.

This way, Brave Fight could unleash the Slowdown Skill magic ceremony, ensuring it’s constantly available.

Meanwhile, Brave Fight himself could step away from the Slowdown Skill magic ceremony to research and utilize other magic ceremonies.

As soon as Gu Xi issued the command, Brave Fight immediately ordered, ”First team commence ceremony, second team prepare, Cold Ice Element Skeleton Mages hold position, the remaining Skeleton Mages ready at the seventh altar.”

Under Brave’s command, all Skeleton Mages swiftly took their positions.

And at that moment, the forced mission countdown hit zero.

At the location previously discovered by the Stone Golem, a massive oriental-style Teleportation Gate silhouette appeared.

Behind that gate stood numerous human-like soldier figures.

Evidently, they intended to storm out from the Teleportation Gate once it stabilized.

Yet as soon as the Teleportation Gate silhouette emerged, the nearby mirrored light flashed, causing the unstable Teleportation Gate silhouette to move to within a thousand meters of Yaliduvi Tower.

As the Teleportation Gate shifted forward, Brave Fight had completed the magic ceremony.

”Mana Extraction!”

Under Brave Fight’s extraction, a substantial amount of mana was drawn from behind the Teleportation Gate.

Given the large number of Skeleton Mages extracting mana simultaneously, this time the Mana Extraction caused a great deal of mana to transform into a rainbow, directly falling from the Teleportation Gate onto the magic ceremony altar.

Even excess mana coalesced into liquid, flowing from the altar to the ground, with no one to manage it.

Brave Fight was enjoying the Mana Extraction.

The situation at the Teleportation Gate, however, was different.

While mana was being extracted, the newly solidified Teleportation Gate rapidly trembled.

About seven to eight seconds later, the newly landed Teleportation Gate vanished like a bubble in the wind before Gu Xi and his team, leaving behind about ten thousand mixed formation soldiers.

Among those soldiers, a bewildered young man looked around in confusion.

He seemed to be thinking, where are my soldiers?

What is going on?

At that moment, a ’ding’ sounded in Gu Xi’s ear.

[Forced Mission Update, Yaksha Jade Tree King appeared. Due to your advance preparations, Yaksha Jade Tree King’s forces were disrupted, only about one-tenth of the forces entered your territory. Thirty percent remained in place without coming over, the rest vanished during teleportation, their fate unknown.]

[Your odds of defeating Yaksha Jade Tree King have greatly improved!]
