Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 697: Chapter 695: Gu Xi Targeted

This time was no different. After completing the Soul Summoning Skill, Gu Xi glanced at his own mana and sat back down.

He extended his left hand, and a book appeared in it.

This book was transcribed by Gu Xi from the ordinary section of the Radiant Library.

The book’s title is ”Differences and Similarities between Summoning and Transformation,” and reading it slightly increases Gu Xi’s success rate in Undead Transformation.

However, the most important aspect of this book is that it informs Gu Xi of the difference between Undead Transformation and the Soul Summoning Skill.

Excess theoretical explanations will not be delved into; it’s enough to know that Undead Transformation is a method that can preserve the power in a corpse to the greatest extent possible.

For instance, the level 19 Yaksha Jade Tree King corpse still housed in Yalidu City; if Soul Summoning Skill is used, an undead of level 8 will emerge.

But using Undead Transformation, the produced undead will be between levels 17 and 19.

This is the fundamental difference between Undead Transformation and the Soul Summoning Skill.

It’s just that currently, Gu Xi is only a novice in Undead Transformation, and for such a high-level corpse, he isn’t very confident he can handle it well.

Moreover, processing such corpses certainly cannot allow their original levels to drop too much, so Gu Xi needs to add some materials, which are not yet prepared.

Gu Xi can only read this book when he’s relaxed to enhance his theoretical knowledge of Undead Transformation.

But just as Gu Xi began to read, his left hand flashed, and the carrier of the Spirit Lamp appeared in front of him, shielding Gu Xi behind.

With a movement from the carrier, Gu Xi knew there was a problem. He shook his hand, stored away the book, and stood up to inquire.

”What happened?”

The carrier couldn’t speak, but the Flame Light Six Paths Lamp transmitted the situation into Gu Xi’s mind.

It turned out that the Spirit Lamp felt someone was watching Gu Xi earlier.

Especially when Gu Xi took out the book ”Differences and Similarities between Summoning and Transformation,” the Spirit Lamp clearly sensed strong emotional disturbance.

It was precisely this emotional disturbance that alerted the carrier of the Spirit Lamp to something amiss, promptly protecting Gu Xi.

Understanding the situation, Gu Xi pointed at the carrier of the Spirit Lamp.

Most of the mana from the Flame Light Six Paths Lamp was injected into the Spirit Lamp, and then a dark red glow emanated from the carrier’s head.

Gu Xi placed a hand on the carrier; this was a discovery during Gu Xi’s research of Orange Armor over these past months.

While studying at the Chaoyang Radiance Guild, Gu Xi also discovered an issue with himself.

He rarely utilized the power of Orange Armor.

At the very least, he did not actively use this power extensively.

In the few previous instances, it was primarily the use of Mind Kill.

Gu Xi scarcely used any other effects.

This brought about an impact where Gu Xi’s understanding of his own Orange Armor was inadequate.

This was not a reasonable behavior.

During his studies in the Chaoyang Radiance Guild, when Gu Xi had spare time to read travelogue-like books, he found that no one casually used Purple Armor like Gu Xi did.

Most players, after acquiring Purple Armor, spent three to five months seriously studying the strengths and weaknesses of Purple Armor—how to leverage its strengths, how to avoid negative effects, which skills to use in which situations—everything was part of their research.

Some families, upon gaining one or two Purple Armors with weak negative effects, would even dedicate the whole family to research and pass down the Armor.

They might even reform their family’s growth around Purple Armor.

In essence, Gu Xi’s way of using Orange Armor was a waste of its resources.

Not to mention, how would he manage the few Purple Armors at hand without adequately leveraging the two Orange Armors he currently possessed?

Therefore, over these past months during his free time, Gu Xi also pondered how to leverage the role of Orange Armor.

But since the secrets of Orange Armor couldn’t be exposed, Gu Xi only researched bit by bit on his own.

The current method was one of Gu Xi’s discoveries during this period.

The Six Paths Disc suppresses Purple Armor, acting as both suppression and enhancement, while not preventing Gu Xi from contacting Purple Armor through the carrier.

Gu Xi’s current method is to directly use the effects of Purple Armor through the carrier.

As Gu Xi placed his hand on the carrier’s shoulder, his vision dimmed, and his perspective swiftly changed, with strands appearing before him, connecting in all directions.

This was the perspective of the Spirit Flame.

It allows the holder of the Spirit Lamp to identify targets that can be ignited with the Spirit Flame.

Gu Xi scanned along the strands and found that the golems and puppets weren’t targeted for ignition.

Most of the strands targeted beings with their own thoughts.

Among these numerous strands, one particular thread was gradually fading.

This thread originated from the waterway direction where Gu Xi had arrived earlier.

Upon seeing this, Gu Xi instantly understood that he had been watched since entering this world.

If not for taking out the book ”Differences and Similarities between Summoning and Transformation,” he might not have discovered anyone monitoring him.

Realizing this, Gu Xi slapped the shoulder of the carrier.

”Abandon other perspectives, lock on to this one, and find it for me.”

The carrier quickly leaped downwards, jumping into the Steel City Gate.

Seeing this, Gu Xi knew the carrier’s intention was to use the Steel City Gate to quickly move to the underground space where Gu Xi entered the world.

Although this avoids traveling underwater, spanning a city would require a significant amount of time.

However, Gu Xi quickly realized he had just released a batch of Giant Vampire Bats into the city.

These Vampire Bats can serve as flying mounts; Gu Xi’s previous plan was to have them act as flying points.

Borrowing the flight speed of the Vampire Bats, the carrier could travel from the Steel City Gate to the Garrison Gate in the shortest time.

This route would certainly be much faster than underwater travel.

With this in mind, Gu Xi’s eyes brightened. He glanced at the ongoing battle in front and casually called Mido.

”Mido, I now command you to manage the heroes here; right now, all recently summoned Undead Corps outside are for you to deploy.

Your mission is twofold: first, kill all enemies in this underground space and deliver the enemy’s corpses to the Soul Summoning Tower below.

Additionally, you must find the passage leading to the next underground space. I recall you have the Pathfinding Skill, enabling you not to get lost anywhere.

The task of finding the way out is entrusted to you.”

”Please rest assured, Master!”
