The Ghost Village is located directly to the east of the valley, which is the point of entry from the east into this mountainous area.

This place is also a key juncture for external connections in this mountainous region.

It can be said that if this village was not a ghost village, but a normal one, this place might have long since become overpopulated, transforming from a village into a town.

But this is a ghost village, not only limiting the population within but also preventing outside forces from entering.

Normal people, whether merchant caravans or others, would not want to pass through such a ghost village.

When Gu Xi arrived here, it happened to be getting dark.

He stood on a nearby hill, looking at the ghost village below. Only then did Gu Xi understand why Wu Liu didn’t know much about the ghost village and also said that one could recognize it at a glance once they saw it.

The entire village before him was completely opposite to the feng shui of normal villages.

Normal villages would be established on the sunny side of the mountains, with the water to the north, but here it was the opposite; the entire village was built on the shady side of the slope, and even if the sun was in the sky, the village wouldn’t receive much sunlight.

Normally, a village would have a pond at its front, while the pond of this village was at the back, as if hidden behind the village.

However, all this was still alright. What truly made Gu Xi feel the oddity of the village was that although this ghost village seemed gone, when standing on the hill looking down, Gu Xi saw the village illuminated brightly.

There were crimson lanterns hung in front of every house, yet he didn’t know who placed them.

By the light of the lanterns, Gu Xi noticed besides the old houses where villagers lived, there were many things that didn’t belong in a village.

Like the opera stage at the southwest corner or the inn in the northeast, these didn’t seem to be something a typical small village would have.

Though puzzled by the situation, Gu Xi wouldn’t leave having come this far.

He gently patted the Evil Coffin and then left the hill heading towards the ghost village.

As the Evil Coffin descended, Gu Xi noticed that the situation of the surrounding hills seemed to be changing.

The forests retreated, and the village expanded endlessly.

The ghost village, initially appearing to only accommodate about thirty households when viewed from the hill, slowly transformed into a small city occupying hundreds of acres as Gu Xi drew nearer.

This change wasn’t much different from the transformation of the Blood Sacrifice Ridge around the Mountain God Temple.

This made Gu Xi tense up, fearing another fight might be necessary against the ghost village ahead.

Just as Gu Xi was ready to deploy the city gates and order a troop attack, the Evil Coffin had already entered the ghost village through its main gate.

Upon entering the ghost village, Gu Xi found it completely deserted, devoid of any human presence, and without any trace of Yin Qi or Ghost Qi, like a newly built village yet to be inhabited.

Everything was brand new, even the ground was spotless.

If it were anyone else encountering this situation, they would have been terrified already.

But Gu Xi had seen the initial state of Yalidu City.

He immediately sensed that the village before him had died.

In this context, ’died’ does not mean it was occupied by ghost souls, but like the situation with Yalidu City and Luna, the village was already dead.

This feeling made Gu Xi squint his eyes. He raised his left hand, looking at the special mirror hanging on his wrist, saying, ”Luna, this city has died. Do you want to come and see?”

Upon receiving Gu Xi’s message, the special mirror lit up, and Luna appeared in front of Gu Xi using the mysterious power of the mirror image space.

Upon appearing, Luna glanced around.

”This city is not dead; it’s still alive.”

”But why do I always feel this city is already dead?”

Although he believed Luna’s judgment, Gu Xi still asked curiously.

Because the ghost village before him felt very similar to when he first entered Yalidu City.

Everything around exuded a sense of deathly stillness.

”Not sure, the city ahead gives off a very eerie feeling, but I can affirm this city is not dead.”

Luna inspected her surroundings, as an Elf of Yalidu City, Luna was well aware of what a dead city should look like.

The city ahead was just deserted, not dead. This point she was confident about.

Trusting Luna’s judgment, Gu Xi immediately chose to believe her.

If this city isn’t dead, then they still need to investigate whether any hidden ghostly entities exist nearby.

Yet just as Gu Xi was about to proceed, a sharp whistle sounded.

Gu Xi felt a chill around him, as if he were being watched by countless people, and his body became slightly stiff.

Gu Xi realized someone or something had focused on him. Without much thought, the phantom of the Steel City Gate appeared behind him.

But at that moment, Luna noticeably sensed something.

She hurriedly and loudly stopped him: ”Sir…”

But it was too late. The Steel City Gate landed in the middle of the ghost village, and in the next moment, all the lanterns in the ghost village turned from red to white.

A large number of spectral figures then appeared throughout the ghost village.

All these figures were floating slightly in the air, with pallid faces fixed right on Gu Xi’s location.

As these figures appeared, Gu Xi felt his life force rapidly depleting, like it was being sucked away by something.

Gu Xi regretted slightly, recalling that while preparing his magic potions earlier, he had focused on his usual battle habits, and most of the potions were aimed at restoring mana.

As for life force, Gu Xi never thought much about it, thinking his waist still had the Substitute Death Puppet hanging, meaning unless he was instantly struck down, Isabella could heal him anytime, eliminating the need to make blood replenishing potions.

Yet now facing the situation, Gu Xi found himself speechless.

While internally complaining, Gu Xi quickly brainstormed ways to handle the current predicament.

At that moment, Gu Xi noticed Luna had already rushed off in a certain direction.

Following Luna’s path, Gu Xi saw at the spot she rushed towards, a gigantic tree burst forth, forming into a lush humanoid figure. Its massive body stood eighteen meters tall, resembling an ancient giant.

This humanoid tree’s trunk was densely covered with layers of leaves, like a gorgeous green cloak.

In this leafy cover, countless black jars hung, each emitting an aura of mystery and eeriness.

As the wind blew through the leaves, the black jars produced a strange white powder.

This powder exuded an odd sweet fragrance when scattered but also had a somewhat harsh smell.

What shocked Gu Xi most was not this, but that each ghostly figure in the ghost village had a thread connecting their heads to the black jars amidst the white powders.
