Undead Mage from a Cell

”I remember you mentioning before that there are only five villages nearby.”

”That’s right, and there’s also a Ghost Village.”

The temple priest was well aware of some of the situations here.

”That’s the place for the souls of soldiers who died in this battle to return to.”

”And now?”

”When the Mountain God died, the Ghost Village also ceased to exist. The tiger wouldn’t allow a territory he couldn’t control.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi stopped dwelling on the matter and turned to ask, ”If I dismantle all these array hubs, will the ten thousand-strong army suppressed beneath emerge?”

”I heard when I arrived that there were Yin Soldiers passing through and Ghost Soldiers passing by.”

”Probably not anymore. To be honest, sir, when I was with the Old Mountain God, I saw similar situations, but they were no longer the heavy cavalry under the King of the Wheel; they were just newly dead ghosts from the battle.

But once they entered this valley, they were suppressed by the battle array here and could never come out again.

Only when heavy rain washes away some of the soil can they come to the surface for a turn, only to be buried underground again.”

Listening to the temple priest, Gu Xi laughed and said, ”What’s your name? I can’t keep calling you temple priest.”

Hearing this, the temple priest understood what Gu Xi meant, and he immediately replied, ”The old man’s surname is Wu, number six. You can call me Wu Liu or Old Wu.”

”Alright then, I’ll call you Wu Liu. Someone, move this stone for me.”

Under Gu Xi’s command, the huge stone in front of them was moved back to Yalidov City.

As the huge stone was lifted, Gu Xi also saw the attributes of the stone.

[Many Years’ Blood Sacrifice Pure Yang Array Stone (Blue): Used to arrange the Pure Yang Three Talents Array for suppressing ghost souls. After many years of blood sacrifice, the array stone has upgraded from its original green to its current blue quality.]

Just by looking at this attribute, Gu Xi wanted to throw it into the Evil Wood Lake.

But right now, Gu Xi had no time to deal with it.

As this Pure Yang Array Stone was moved, the cinnabar red soil on the ground was unearthed, and the nearby sky quickly darkened.

Dark clouds began to appear in the sky, seeming to suggest it was about to rain.

”Sir, if things continue like this, the commotion will be too large, attracting the attention of nearby Wenshan Dao. Even if you want peace, it might not be possible,” Wu Liu advised.

But Gu Xi wasn’t worried at all.

”Rest assured, nothing major will happen.”

Wu Liu no longer persuaded him, and under Gu Xi’s orders, he found the other two Pure Yang Array Stones buried in the valley.

These two Pure Yang Array Stones were somewhat different from the previous one.

The previous one had a prominent character, which was the earth stone in the Three Talents Array.

Of the remaining two, one was entirely black, half the size of the previous stone, and the other was carved into a human shape, corresponding to the positions of heaven and man respectively.

When these two Pure Yang Array Stones were being moved, a lightning bolt suddenly flashed across the sky, followed by a torrential downpour.

Amidst the thunder and lightning, an army composed of ghosts emerged from underground.

This army was mainly cavalry, having entirely turned into spirits, yet still maintained their original appearance, wearing heavy armor pierced with arrows and longswords, riding warhorses fully covered in heavy armor.

Upon their appearance, Gu Xi immediately recognized that the armor they wore was identical to the armor previously unearthed by Du Yuan.

They emerged from underground but paid no attention to the undead digging the mud; instead, they took advantage of the rain to leave.

Gu Xi did not stop them, merely watching them depart.

Gu Xi clearly saw that these ghost soldiers were shrouded in a friendly green hue.

Now was not the time to prevent them; Gu Xi wanted to see what they intended to do.

After these ghost soldiers left, they did not attack anyone else; they were heading to places where they previously battled.

Where they passed by, deceased ghost soldiers transformed into spirits emerged from the ground, quickly joining the ranks.

These ghost soldiers were unaware that the array that trapped them had been dismantled by Gu Xi; they were already free.

They thought they had encountered heavy rain, as happened in the past, allowing them to travel through it.

In their hearts was only the most simple idea.

While they could still move, they would bring their fallen brothers back.

Though after the rain ceased, they would be sealed underground again.

But staying together was better than becoming wandering spirits outside.

Thus, they took advantage of the rain and the swift movement of ghost souls to quickly run around and summon back the comrades not yet recalled.

In the torrential rain, they also saw the tens of thousands of White Impermanence working hard.

However, they did not approach or communicate; the two groups were like parallel lines unseen to each other, with no interaction.

After about three hours, the ghost soldiers started to realize something was off; today’s rain seemed to have no end.

Just as they were about to surpass the ambush line from the past decade, the ghost soldiers finally turned their horses around, heading back.

Now, upon closer inspection, one would find that the number of ghost soldiers in front was more than double compared to before.

There were about four thousand ghost soldiers on horseback, and those without horses, dressed obviously as infantry and auxiliary soldiers, numbered around fourteen thousand.

They were all in ghostly form, their bodies glowing bright green or phosphorescent blue, filled with various piercing items.

Now they were heading back to their original position.

This time, they finally had the thought to survey their surroundings.

As these ghost soldiers returned, Gu Xi stepped forward, blocking their path.

”Gentlemen, might we have a word?”

The ghost soldiers, eager to return before the rain stopped, were taken aback when blocked by Gu Xi.

The Death Lord’s ability made them feel positively towards Gu Xi; although he blocked them, they had no intention of attacking him, and one even spoke to Gu Xi.

”Sir, please step aside. Stopping us will do you no good.”

”The main suppression array here has already been dismantled by me; you are all free now.”

Gu Xi did not clear the way but stated directly.

Hearing this, all the ghost soldiers were shocked.

They displayed expressions of disbelief.

”If you don’t believe it, feel free to test it yourselves. Your coming out isn’t due to the rain but because what suppressed you is gone.”

Now the ghost soldiers came to realize; the cavalry immediately mounted their horses and rode around.

They wanted to see if they were truly free and if the suppression array that confined them was really gone.
