After arranging everything at Blood Sacrifice Ridge, Gu Xi delegated all tasks to Mountain God Wu Liu.

Gu Xi himself led the troops back to the valley.

By this time, the valley had been pretty much excavated, the red soil was gone, and various armors and weapons were piled to the side.

The bodies were buried on the two sides of the valley, in as cool places as possible.

When Gu Xi arrived, Wang Li Zheng quickly came up to him.

”Sir, look, everything has been excavated. There is surely more below, but everything within the main area is here.”

Gu Xi glanced at the scene and understood that Wang Li Zheng wasn’t lying.

Unlike Du Yuan and Wu Liu, Wang Li Zheng was someone without much personal initiative, but as long as you defined a scope for him, he could get things done.

Such individuals, if turned into heroes, are best used near resource points to gather materials.

When it’s not possible to turn him into a hero, let him act as a supervisor instead.

Coincidentally, such manpower is exactly what Yalidu City needs.

”Well done, I’ve seen your capabilities. I’ll assign you two teams, you are to search outside the valley for me.

All those corpses that perished outside the valley back then, you must find them as well. The armors are to be sent to Blood Sacrifice Ridge, and the corpses brought back to this valley for burial.”

Seeing Wang Li Zheng’s honest face, Gu Xi quickly made this decision.

At the same time, with a wave of his hand, his Undead began transporting all the armors excavated by Wang Li Zheng back to Yalidu City.

Regarding Gu Xi’s instructions, Wang Li Zheng dared not say much. Meanwhile, since the red soil in the valley had been entirely excavated, Du Yuan also found himself idle.

Seeing Wang Li Zheng’s situation, Du Yuan stepped forward and said, ”Sir, the Reincarnation Mountain valley has been cleared out. Shouldn’t we clean up the road in the valley next?

Previously the valley was heavily steeped in Yin Qi, with the Mountain God Tiger’s suppression, merchants would rather detour a thousand miles outside than pass here.

It was just me, seeking a shortcut through here, ended up accidentally reciting a poem, and got myself killed by a tiger attack.

Now that the tiger is dead and the Ghost Qi in the valley has been cleared, this place has become a clear path. Sir, we could completely build a road here to connect the valley.

Then station someone here to collect toll fees from passing caravans, this would be a source of income.”

Listening to Du Yuan, Gu Xi just smiled and said, ”Building a road is simple, but for my purposes, it would be troublesome. Blood Sacrifice Ridge hasn’t yet completed control over the surrounding mountainous areas.

Building a road now would take about three days with my Undead, and it could be accomplished.

But what then?

Invite outsiders in? Letting others come and occupy this open land?”

Gu Xi shook his head, this area only needs one city.

He does not wish to attract unnecessary enemies before he has control over this region.

Upon hearing this, Du Yuan immediately shut his mouth.

He realized that his thinking had been too simplistic.

However, he glanced at the valley ahead, feeling somewhat regretful.

If this valley road were completed, passing caravans through here would save at least three days of travel.

If both endpoint roads were blocked, the toll fees collected could be sky-high.

Gu Xi was unaware of Du Yuan’s thoughts. If he knew, he might consider what roles Du Yuan had held before.

Could it be that Du Yuan had a nickname like Wit Star?

However, Du Yuan’s words did remind Gu Xi that although building a road to cut through the valley might be impractical, constructing a road directly to Blood Sacrifice Ridge was a good idea.

Gu Xi had the spirit of a construction fanatic in his bones.

He rejected Du Yuan’s earlier plan because he didn’t have solid control over the current region. Building a road now would equate to letting wolves into the house.

Without stabilizing things here, Gu Xi would not do it.

Building a road to Blood Sacrifice Ridge, however, was beneficial for Gu Xi.

Once Gu Xi thought of this, he decisively commanded, ”Du Yuan, since you’re free now, build a road from here to Blood Sacrifice Ridge. I’ll arrange new Undead for you.

As for how to build it?

I’ll assign an architect to accompany you. Build it as the architect says.”

Gu Xi thought seriously for a moment before making the decision.

Du Yuan was about to mention that he also had some expertise in road construction, but observing Gu Xi’s demeanor, he wisely kept silent.

Soon, all the armors excavated by Wang Li Zheng were transported back to Yalidu City.

With a wave of his hand, Gu Xi put away the Steel City Gate.

After securing the city gate, Gu Xi turned to Du Yuan and Wang Li Zheng, ”Alright, continue with your tasks.”

Wang Li Zheng responded quickly and left with the Undead Gu Xi had assigned him.

Du Yuan still hesitated because, in his view, this wasn’t what he wanted.

He didn’t become a Mountain God because his goal was to become a Military Advisor under Gu Xi.

This kind of menial work once was enough; having to do it again seemed a bit dismissive of him—a scholar eligible to enter the capital for an exam.

Just as Du Yuan wanted to explain his grand plans to Gu Xi, he realized that Gu Xi had already left with his men.

Gu Xi had no time to discuss too much with Du Yuan here.

While Blood Sacrifice Ridge was established and the area handed to Mountain God Wu Liu for management, many other matters remained unaddressed.

Gu Xi’s next destination was the only Ghost Village among the original six villages in this mountain region.

Wu Liu himself hadn’t been there, only knew its location at best.

He knew the Ghost Village disappeared a long time ago.

As for what was in the Ghost Village or why it disappeared, he was clueless.

Initially, hearing of Gu Xi’s intent to visit the Ghost Village, Wu Liu wanted to personally lead troops there.

But Gu Xi hoped Wu Liu could locate the nearby resource points.

Hence he stopped Wu Liu.

Gu Xi led his troops to check out the Ghost Village.

To see if any monsters remain there.

If there were neutral Undead, Gu Xi could make another profit.

So after arranging matters here, Gu Xi headed straight out.

Du Yuan hadn’t had the chance to say his piece before Gu Xi had already turned away.

By the time Du Yuan realized, Gu Xi was already driving off with the Evil Coffin in the distance.
