Undead Mage from a Cell

About another two hours passed before the dark clouds in the sky dispersed, and the heavy rain ceased; only then did the ghost soldiers return to their ranks one by one.

At this moment, although these ghost soldiers still had the appearance of semi-transparent dead faces, the excitement on their faces was unmistakable.

After all, they had been trapped here for over a thousand years, and many comrades had faded away due to the lack of hope.

Only they had endured till now.

However, even so, they all knew that they wouldn’t last much longer under constant suppression.

It was Gu Xi who gave them a chance to survive.

No matter what Gu Xi’s thoughts were, all the ghost soldiers dismounted and knelt on one knee before Gu Xi, expressing their gratitude: ”Thank you!”

After this grand gesture, a ghost soldier led his warhorse to Gu Xi.

”Sir, for doing such a thing and releasing us brothers, you surely don’t just expect a thank you from us, right? If there’s anything, please, give us your commands, Sir.”

Faced with such a direct question from the ghost soldier, Gu Xi didn’t know how to respond at first.

In the end, he could only smile to ease his awkwardness and then said, ”I have a city. Would you be willing to live and fight there with me?”

The ghost soldiers exchanged glances, all falling silent.

Seeing them like this, Gu Xi was also somewhat puzzled, wondering if his Death Lord abilities were malfunctioning.

At this moment, the same ghost soldier spoke again: ”We discussed it just now; some of us who have some combat power plan to go see if we can rescue the brothers killed elsewhere.

Those of us without combat power will be entrusted to you, Sir.”

As soon as the ghost soldier finished speaking, a group of ghost soldiers stepped forward to stand before Gu Xi from the ranks.

Gu Xi glanced at them and noticed that among those who stepped forward, there were about thirteen hundred to fourteen hundred ghost soldiers on horseback, and more than three thousand infantry and auxiliary soldiers without horses.

Their bodies were noticeably paler, looking as if they would dissipate at the slightest breeze.

Faced with such circumstances, Gu Xi was at a loss for words.

The leading ghost soldier then spoke to Gu Xi again: ”Sir, I know you released us to subdue us.

But no matter what, you are a benefactor to us, Sir; we have nothing to repay with. This is something left behind by General Zhou, please, accept it, Sir.”

”General Zhou?”

Gu Xi looked at the ghost soldier, who was holding out a longsword-like item, and asked curiously.

”Yes, we belong to the vanguard under General Zhou Shikun from the Iron Cavalry King’s left path.

I am now the highest surviving officer, Captain Li Dayou.”

”Iron Cavalry King? Is that what you call your army?”

Gu Xi quickly understood that the so-called King of the Wheel was probably some propaganda by the Great Feng Dynasty.

”Yes, but our lord preferred to be called the Iron Cavalry Scholar; our lord once intended to participate in the imperial exams.

However, upon asking if it was possible, with fifty thousand heavy cavalry at home being discovered, in the end, they were forced into rebellion.”

Li Dayou spoke helplessly, ”We are not like they advertised, as Heroic Spirits brought back from reincarnation. We were personally led out by Sir as a heavy cavalry force.

Even though some are about to dissipate, their combat experience is still intact.

I hope Sir can offer them a peaceful place to survive.

So they won’t disappear like the others in infinite darkness, leaving nothing behind.

Even if it’s dying on the battlefield again, it’s better than leaving nothing behind.”

Gu Xi gave Li Dayou a look and reached out to grasp the longsword he was holding.

”Alright, I’ll take care of this for you; after this journey, we may part forever. I wish you a smooth journey, General.”

As soon as Gu Xi finished speaking, all the ghost soldiers, except those who had stepped forward earlier, disappeared before him.

Gu Xi tightened his grip on the half-transparent, ghostly longsword.

Holding this longsword felt like holding jelly; it seemed that with a bit more force, the longsword would spontaneously scatter.

Just then, a ”ding” sound rang in Gu Xi’s ears.

[You have obtained Vanguard Power - Shattering Array (Purple)]

[Vanguard Power - Shattering Array (Purple, Main Hand Weapon)]

[Attack: 25-33]

[Equipped: Agility +5, Constitution +4]

[Equipment Requirement: Power 5, Agility 6, Constitution 5]

[Special 1: Charge Slash, when executing this slash, it comes with a Cavalry Charge effect naturally, not needing a charge or build-up; simply slashing forward is equivalent to a cavalryman making a full-speed charge from a hundred meters away.]

[Special Effect 1: After equipping and activating the Charge Slash effect once, the arm holding the sword will remain in a state of fracture, unable to recover by any means.]

[Special 2: Array-Breaking Music, in battle, with each enemy killed, a burst of music will play, providing attribute boosts to nearby comrades.]

[Special Effect 2: After equipping and activating the Array-Breaking Music effect once, the ears will be affected, becoming deaf and unable to hear any sound (this effect cannot be eliminated by any means).]

[Special 3: Shattering Strike, causing the longsword to shatter into fragments that blast forwards in a fan shape, inflicting at least 500 points of damage to every enemy within the attack range (usable once a day).]

[Special Effect 3: After equipping and activating the Shattering Strike effect once, this sword hand will be completely shattered, unable to be repaired through recovery, vampire, or other effects.]

[Note: As a vanguard, one must have the conviction to break through all barriers; if unable to break through, then shatter together with the enemy.]

Looking at the attributes of this longsword, Gu Xi knew the sword’s effects were terrifying; ordinary people couldn’t withstand the effects of this longsword.

After all, these negative effects were not just fractures, but complete loss of arms.

The mildest one left one deaf in both ears, provoking a thought whether this Vanguard Power - Shattering Array intended to help or hinder.

But one thing is for sure, if genuinely desperate, this longsword is indeed an extraordinary weapon.

By ignoring its negative effects, it can undoubtedly manifest excellent combat power in battle.

Perhaps Gu Xi needs a Death Incarnation specialized in sword combat, or a Vampire Contracted Undead indifferent to arms.

Stowing away [Vanguard Power - Shattering Array], Gu Xi turned to the remaining ghost soldiers.

At this moment, a message also popped up before Gu Xi.

[Some undead feel your powerful strength and are willing to join your forces; would you like to accept their surrender?]
